Abstract

The rapid expansion of built-up areas in Makassar City has led to an increase in Land Surface Temperature (LST) and intensified the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon. This study aims to analyze the relationship between Local Climate Zones (LCZ) and surface temperature distribution across three districts: Tallo, Panakkukang, and Manggala. The methods involved rule-based LCZ classification using Sentinel-2 imagery and high-resolution (10-meter) LST prediction through a Random Forest model based on Landsat 8 and Sentinel-2 data, processed in Google Earth Engine. The results indicate that built-up zones such as compact low-rise and sparsely built areas exhibit significantly higher surface temperatures compared to vegetated and water zones. These findings confirm that the spatial distribution of LCZs strongly influences urban thermal variation and highlight the importance of climate-responsive urban planning through increased green spaces and water body preservation to mitigate localized heating in Makassar City.

Abstract

Pesatnya pertumbuhan penduduk di Kota Bekasi mendorong konversi lahan yang signifikan dan memunculkan kawasan aglomerasi pendidikan di Jalan K.H. Agus Salim, Bekasi Timur. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan dinamika spasial-temporal perkembangan fasilitas pendidikan dasar hingga menengah serta perubahan tutupan lahan pada periode 2001, 2012, dan 2023. Data citra resolusi tinggi Google Earth Pro, informasi sekolah dari Dapodik, serta validasi lapangan digunakan untuk klasifikasi tiga kategori lahan: vegetasi, terbuka non-vegetasi, dan lainnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan jumlah sekolah dari 9 unit pada 2001 menjadi 15 unit pada 2023, seiring penurunan luas vegetasi, terutama di zona tengah dan timur. Sementara itu, zona barat relatif stabil dengan adanya pemulihan vegetasi pada lahan eks industri. Temuan ini mengungkap bahwa perkembangan fasilitas pendidikan tidak selalu sejajar dengan perubahan lahan, melainkan dipengaruhi faktor tata ruang, aksesibilitas, dan pertumbuhan penduduk usia sekolah. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya integrasi perencanaan kawasan pendidikan dengan perlindungan ruang terbuka hijau dan pengendalian alih fungsi lahan untuk mendukung keberlanjutan lingkungan perkotaan.

Abstract

Tourism is essentially a geographical phenomenon, encompassing the movement and flow of people and spatial distribution patterns relating to land use consumption. The impacts of tourism on LUCC must track and monitor regrading effected to environment and human side. For decades, Banyumas Regency has been known for its famous tourist destinations such Baturaden District and numerous waterfalls. However, the development of tourism infrastructures within its vicinity has sparked complaints from communities, particularly damaged roads and decreasing tourist visits. From environmental perspective, excessive tourism development might cause decreasing natural carrying capacity. Therefore, to provide deeper analysis regarding the current tourism development, this article describes the Land Use/Land Cover Change (LULC) in Banyumas Regency in 2000, 2010, and 2020 based on satellite data analysis using Google Earth Engine (GEE). Sentinel satellite data in 2020 were processed to generate LULC, while Landsat TM 5 data were used to provide LULC in 2000 and 2010. LULC classification was performed using Random Forest with accuracy assessment (Kappa) reach 0.81 for 2000, 0.91 for 2010, and 0.96 for 2010. Furthermore, based on CA-Markov method, the predicted LULCC in 2030 will be 84.28% unchanged and 15.72% change. In addition, several tourism development policies need to be evaluated based on the predicted LULCC in Banyumas Regency in order to avoid disturbance to natural resources.

Abstract

Rapid urbanization and the planned establishment of the Proposed New Autonomous Region (PNAR) of Purwokerto have intensified pressure on rice-field conversion, threatening the sustainability of regional rice supply. This study offers a GIS-based approach to assess the biophysical suitability of paddy fields and determine LP2B protection priorities. The objective is to identify paddy-field zones that should be preserved to maintain long-term food security. The Spatial Multi-Criteria Evaluation (SMCE) method was used to integrate seven biophysical parameters, producing a suitability map dominated by S2 class (19,096.56 ha). An overlay with existing rice fields shows that all 7,040.78 ha fall within the S2 class. The LP2B prioritization analysis reveals the need to retain at least 6,642.18 ha of rice fields to maintain the 2029 rice surplus, with five peri-urban subdistricts required to protect more than 90% of their existing fields. These findings underscore the urgency of land-suitability-based paddy-field protection to balance PNAR development with regional food security.   ABSTRAK (Bahasa Indonesia) Urbanisasi pesat dan rencana pembentukan Calon DOB Purwokerto meningkatkan tekanan konversi sawah, mengancam keberlanjutan pasokan beras wilayah. Penelitian ini menawarkan solusi berbasis SIG untuk memetakan kesesuaian biofisik lahan padi sawah serta menilai prioritas perlindungan LP2B. Tujuannya adalah mengidentifikasi zona sawah yang layak dipertahankan guna menjaga ketahanan pangan jangka panjang. Metode Spatial Multi Criteria Evaluation (SMCE) digunakan untuk mengintegrasikan tujuh parameter biofisik, menghasilkan peta kesesuaian yang menunjukkan dominasi kelas S2 (19.096,56 ha). Overlay dengan sawah eksisting menunjukkan bahwa seluruh 7.040,78 ha sawah berada pada kelas S2. Analisis prioritas LP2B mengungkap kebutuhan mempertahankan minimal 6.642,18 ha sawah untuk menjaga surplus beras 2029, dengan lima kecamatan penyangga harus melindungi lebih dari 94% sawah eksistingnya. Temuan ini menegaskan urgensi perlindungan sawah berbasis kesesuaian lahan untuk menyeimbangkan pembangunan DOB dengan ketahanan pangan wilayah.
