Abstract

The success of a culture depends on the quantity and quality of water used in fish culture without water exchange, the concentration of aquaculture waste such as ammonia (NH3) will increase very rapidly and is toxic to the cultivated organism. One of the innovations applied in fish farming is integrating plants through an aquaponics system. This study aims to determine the effect of using a settling tub in reducing ammonia waste (NH3) and growth in tilapia aquaculture using an aquaponic tidal system. The size of the initial tilapia seeds used is 3-4 cm. There are two treatments used, without settling tub (A) and addition of settling tub (B) with three replications. However, the results showed no significant differences (P>0.05) between treatments for all parameters observed. It is necessary to carry out further research on different fish and plants to see the optimization in reducing ammonia waste (NH3).

Abstract

Kiluan Bay is one of the marine conservation areas in Tanggamus Regency, Province of Lampung through which dolphins migrate. This research aims to analyze the relationship between the distribution of sea surface temperature and chlorophyll with the appearance of dolphins in Kiluan Bay. This research uses an exploratory survey method. The research results show that the highest appearance of dolphins was in the Transition Season I, around 117 in the temperature range of 29,44-29,88°C with a chlorophyll concentration of 0,120-0,184 mg/m³ and the lowest in the West Season was around 31 in the temperature range of 28,56-29,34°C with a chlorophyll concentration of 0,096-0,134 mg/m³. The appearance of dolphins is more strongly related to sea surface temperature than to chlorophyll concentration because dolphins do not eat phytoplankton directly where there is a time lag where increasing the chlorophyll concentration value does not immediately have an impact on increasing the intensity value of dolphin emergence, but requires some predation time.

Abstract

Bertambahnya populasi penduduk di Kota Bandar Lampung mengakibatkan permintaan pasar terhadap ikan air tawar terus meningkat. Kondisi ini membuka peluang bagi masyarakat di Rajabasa Jaya untuk mengembangkan budidaya ikan air tawar, khususnya ikan nila. Ikan nila mulai diminati karena mudah dibudidayakan. Namun, rendahnya kualitas genetik ikan nila menyebabkan banyak ikan yang mati akibat rentan terhadap penyakit, sehingga hasil panen menjadi sedikit. Tim dari Jurusan Perikanan, Fakultas Pertanian UNILA melaksanakan proyek percontohan berupa usaha pembesaran ikan nila monoseks. Ikan nila monoseks dipilih karena memiliki daya tahan lebih tinggi terhadap penyakit, pertumbuhan yang cepat, waktu pembesaran yang relatif singkat, dan prospek pemasaran yang baik. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan warga Kelurahan Rajabasa Jaya dalam budidaya ikan nila monoseks gesit. Metode yang digunakan mencakup penyuluhan dengan pendekatan berbagi pengetahuan, pelatihan, dan simulasi teknologi budidaya ikan nila monoseks. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah kelompok pembudidaya ikan di Kelurahan Rajabasa Jaya. Hasil yang diharapkan dari kegiatan ini meliputi implementasi teknologi budidaya ikan nila monoseks dan publikasi artikel ilmiah di jurnal pengabdian masyarakat. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan meliputi penyuluhan dan pelatihan budidaya ikan nila monoseks. Warga Rajabasa Jaya menunjukkan antusiasme yang tinggi selama kegiatan berlangsung. Evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan warga mengenai budidaya ikan nila monoseks. Dari kegiatan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengetahuan warga tentang cara budidaya ikan nila monoseks telah meningkat dengan baik.

Abstract

Bencana di kawasan pesisir dapat terjadi kapan saja dengan skala bencana dan cenderung berdampak besar bagi masyarakat terutama kelompok rentan. Amanat UU No. 24/2007 tentang Penanggulangan Bencana menyatakan bahwa kelompok rentan merupakan kelompok masyarakat berisiko tinggi, karena berada dalam situasi dan kondisi yang kurang memiliki kemampuan mempersiapkan diri dalam menghadapi risiko bencana atau ancaman bencana,  Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan dalam upaya meningkatkan kemampuan mengidentifikasi peluang bencana di sekitarnya dan meningkatkan keterampilan penanganan diri untuk mengurangi resiko kebencaan yang diderita. Peningkatan kapasitas kelompok mayarakat rentan dilakukan dengan mengadakan kegiatan penyuluhan tatap muka, dan kegiatan simulasi bencana kepada sejumlah siswa sekolah dasar (SD) dan masyarakat desa setempat. Pemilihan kelompok rentan tersebut didasarkan pada kondisi demografi masyarakat setempat. Kegiatan pengabdian mendapatkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan kemampuan kelompok masyarakat rentan dalam mengidentifikasi dan menangani jenis dan resiko kebencanaan di daerahnya.

Abstract

Mangroves scattered in the shore of Lampung have considerable potential to be used as medicines and antibiotics, because the distribution of various mangroves on almost every shore of Lampung is overgrown with various mangrove plants. Mangroves have a symbiotic relationship with microbes, so that mangrove endosymbion microbes generally have the same bioactive compounds as their hosts. Mangrove Avicennia sp. is one of the mangrove species that has the ability to be antibacterial. Mangrove endosymbion microbes can also have the ability to inhibit antibacterial pathogens that cause disease. Diseases whose cases are found in the community, one of which is caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and Escherichia coli. The purpose of this study is to screen the potential isolate of the endosymbion fungus Avicennia sp. as an antibacterial against S.aureus and E.coli bacteria. Isolation results of Avicennia sp. 12 isolates of endosymbion fungi were obtained that have inhibitory activity against S. aureus and E. coli. and 5 isolates (WBJ-R01, WBJ-R04, WBJ-R05, WBJ-R09, and WBJ-R12) that had the best inhibitory zone activity. Extracts from the five endosymbion fungi isolates have inhibitory zones in both pathogenic bacteria. It is proven that the five extracts at the highest concentration are in a strong inhibition zone. WBJ-R01, WBJ-R04, WBJ-R05, WBJ-R09, and WBJ-R12 isolates had inhibition zones of 11.4 mm, 11 mm, 11.73 mm, 12.3 mm, and 13.23 mm, against S.aureus bacteria respectively. and against E.coli bacteria 14.03 mm, 10.3 mm, 13.13 mm, 9.73 mm, and 6.5 mm.

Abstract

Abstrak Perairan Pulau Pasaran memiliki sumber daya laut salah satunya adalah kerang darah (Anadara granosa). Limbah yang bersumber dari daratan dan perairan sekitar mengandung logam berat seperti Pb dan Cu yang dapat mempengaruhi organisme. Kerang darah memiliki potensi yang digunakan sebagai bioindikator untuk mewakili logam berat dalam air karena kerang darah memiliki kemampuan untuk mengakumulasi logam berat dalam konsentrasi rendah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis konsentrasi Pb dan Cu pada sedimen dan kerang darah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah purposive random sampling untuk menentukan stasiun penelitian dan metode sampling. Konsentrasi logam berat dianalisis menggunakan metode MP-AES. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi tertinggi pada kerang darah adalah Pb 206,51 mg / kg dan Cu 95,11 mg / kg. Konsentrasi tertinggi pada sedimen adalah Pb 634,49 mg / kg dan Cu 366,85 mg/kg.Kata kunci: kerang darah (Anadara granosa); logam berat; Pb; Cu; sedimenAbstract Pasaran island waters have marine resources such as blood cockle (Anadara granosa). The amount of waste from land and around of waters contain heavy metall such as Pb and Cu than can affect for the organism. Blood cockle has a potential used as bioindicator to represent the heavy metal in water because blood cockle has capabilities to accumulate the small concentration of heavy metal. The aim of this research are to analysis concentration of Pb and Cu in sediment and blood cockle. Method used in this research purposive random sampling to determine research station and sampling method. The concentration of heavy metal analyzed using MP-AES method. The result showed that the highest concentration in blood cockle of Pb is 206,51 mg/kg and Cu is 95,11 mg/kg. The highest concentration in sediment of Pb is 634,49 mg/kg and Cu is 366,85 mg/kg.Keywords: Blood cockle (Anadara granosa); heavy metal; Pb; Cu; sediment

Abstract

Lampung is one of national marine tourism destination. Seagrass is one of fragile coastal ecosystem and it is a habitat and feeding ground for a number of Echinoderms species.  Echinodermata are nutrient recyclers that will in turn provide benefits to the seagrass ecosystem. This research aimed to assess the community structure of Echinoderms and seagrass as well as the relationship between Echinoderms abundance, seagrass densities, and water quality in Mahitam Island and Ketapang Beach. Observations were conducted at 7 stations, namely 3 stations on Ketapang Beach and 4 stations on Mahitam Island. Observations included the type and number of echinoderms, as well as the type, number of individuals, and number of seagrasses stands. Habitat quality that was observed were included water quality such as temperature, salinity, pH, DO (dissolved oxygen), current speed, brightness, and TOM (total organic matter) and also observed substrate type at each station. The result elucidated nine species of echinoderms and 4 species of seagrasses were found in both study sites. The average value of Echinoderms diversity index in Mahitam Island and Ketapang Beach was low. The uniformity index of Echinoderms in Mahitam Island was medium and Ketapang Beach was low. The dominance index of Echinoderms on Mahitam Island was categorized as low and Ketapang Beach was considered high. There was a domination of an Echinoderms species in some stations. The association between Echinoderms abundance, seagrass density and habitat quality in both locations showed a positive relationship and was influenced by the habitat quality parameters of seagrasses.
