Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of physical fitness and physical activity among students at SDN 2 Dangdeur. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with a survey technique. The population and sample consisted of 74 students (38 boys and 36 girls), selected using total sampling. The instrument used to measure physical fitness was the Indonesian Student Fitness Test (TKSI) Phase C, while physical activity was assessed using a modified daily activity questionnaire tailored to elementary school students. The results showed that most boys had a Moderate level of physical fitness (65.8%), followed by Good (15.8%), Poor (15.8%), and Very Poor (2.6%). Meanwhile, most girls were in the Poor category (63.9%), followed by Moderate (33.3%) and Very Poor (2.8%). In terms of daily physical activity, boys were generally quite active, with 13.2% categorized as Less Active, 65.8% as Moderately Active, and 21.1% as Very Active. Girls were also quite active, with 13.9% in the Less Active category, 66.7% Moderately Active, and 19.4% Very Active. These results indicate that boys have higher levels of physical fitness and activity compared to girls. The findings highlight the need for structured physical activity programs in schools to optimally support students' physical fitness.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the experiences of Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) teachers in implementing character education at private elementary schools in Cimahi City. Character education has become a central issue in education due to the moral decline among the younger generation. PJOK teachers play a strategic role in shaping students' character through physical activities that emphasize values such as discipline, sportsmanship, cooperation, and responsibility. This research employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with two experienced PJOK teachers from private elementary schools in Cimahi. Data analysis was conducted thematically based on Miles and Huberman's framework, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that PJOK teachers integrate character values through modeling, group games, reflective discussions, and positive reinforcement. The main obstacles encountered include limited instructional time, lack of facilities, and students' low awareness of character values. In conclusion, PJOK learning plays a crucial role in holistic character development, and teachers' experiences can serve as valuable insights for prospective educators to implement effective character education in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of animated media in improving basketball shooting performance among children aged 10–11 years through an experimental method, revealing that animation-based instruction significantly enhances training outcomes compared to conventional methods. The research was conducted at Cimahi Mandiri 2 Elementary School with a total of 40 students participating in extracurricular basketball activities. Using a total sampling technique, participants were randomly divided into two equal groups: one received animated media during training, and the other followed traditional instruction without animation. A basketball shooting test was used to assess performance improvements. The results demonstrated that the group exposed to animated media showed a significant increase in shooting performance (t=23.59>t-table=2.262), while the non-animation group also improved but to a lesser extent (t=12.68>t-table=2.262). Furthermore, a comparative test between the two groups yielded a significant difference (t=25.98>t-table=2.101), indicating a stronger impact of animated media. In conclusion, animated media significantly improves basketball shooting skills in children, and the results and conclusions are consistent with the study’s objectives.

Abstract

Background Problems: Nutrition is an important factor in improving athlete performance, but many athletes still experience problems such as ignorance about the right portion and type of food, unbalanced energy intake, and a lack of knowledge about the nutrients the body needs. Research Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the nutritional intake of hockey student-athletes who are members of indoor hockey clubs in Tangerang City. Methods: This study used a quantitative descriptive method with a survey approach. Data were collected using a single and 24-hour reported food recall, and as many as 24 research subjects were involved in this study, there are student-athletes in the club’s indoor hockey in Tangerang City. Data analysis used a statistical approach in the form of percentages. The nutritional analysis in this study focused more on the percentages of carbohydrate, protein, fat, and caloric intake eaten by athletes within a 24-hour period. Findings and Results: This study showed the average results of the nutrition intakes include 83% for protein, 53% for carbohydrates, 72% for fat, and 52% for calories. The results show that the knowledge of indoor hockey athletes was still lacking. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that the nutritional intake of indoor hockey athletes in Tangerang City is still far from optimal. It is vital for athletes to enhance their understanding of proper nutrition and energy needs, as this can significantly impact their fitness levels and performance outcomes. Coaches and trainers should prioritise nutrition education as part of regular training programs, collaborating with nutritionists to ensure that athletes receive the necessary guidance on their dietary habits. In the future, developing integrated nutritional programs tailored to the specific needs of indoor hockey athletes will be crucial. This research contributes to a growing understanding of the importance of nutrition in sports and underscores the need for continued efforts to address the dietary challenges faced by student athletes.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate an application-based training model that integrates technical skill development and water confidence in freestyle swimming. A research and development approach was employed using the ADDIE framework, encompassing analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The developed model was implemented through a mobile application featuring progressive freestyle swimming drills, visual demonstrations, and confidence-oriented learning activities. Participants consisted of 20 freestyle swimmers selected through simple random sampling. Model validity was examined through expert review using Aiken’s V coefficient, while practicality was assessed based on responses from coaches and swimmers. Effectiveness was evaluated using a pretest–posttest design and analyzed with nonparametric statistics. The results indicated high content validity and practicality of the training model. Significant improvements were observed in overall freestyle swimming skills following implementation, with notable gains in breathing coordination, arm-leg coordination, and movement efficiency. Improvements in observable confidence-related behaviors, such as more relaxed breathing patterns and stable body alignment, were also identified. These findings suggest that integrating skill-oriented drills with confidence-enhancing strategies within an application-based framework can effectively support motor learning in aquatic environments. In conclusion, the proposed training model offers a theoretically grounded and practically feasible approach to improving freestyle swimming skills and water confidence. The integration of digital technology, motor learning principles, and confidence-oriented pedagogy provides a valuable contribution to swimming education and coaching practice.
