Abstract

Food products currently compete with each other based on price and physical appearance. Many traders are competing to make food with attractive colors by adding synthetic dyes. However, in order to make big profits, there are some who make food products but are not honest. Such as adding rhodamine-B, which is a textile dye, as a coloring agent in foods such as chili sauce. People often use chili sauce to add a spicy taste to food. If there is rhodamine-B in food, it can cause health problems such as stomach inflammation, skin irritation, respiratory tract and liver cancer and can cause death if it accumulates in large quantities. This community service activity through outreach will increase public knowledge about the dangers of rhodamine-B. Where PkM material will be presented through lecture, discussion and question and answer methods. The number of PkM participants is 20 traders who sell around the Tanjung Morawa traditional market, where PkM participants are determined randomly. The increase in participants' knowledge was measured through pre and post-tests. The service results show that there are several chili sauce products that contain certain levels of rhodamine-B so it is not recommended to use this chili sauce. Apart from that, through this outreach activity, PkM participants experienced an increase in average knowledge about the dangers of rhodamine-B by 26.5. Where the average pre-test score is 52 and post-test is 78.5, which means there is an increase in knowledge after the counseling activities.

Abstract

Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Hand hygiene must be carried out before and after contact with patients, before carrying out aseptic procedures, after exposure to body fluids, and after touching objects around the patient, which is a crucial step in maintaining the safety of patients, health workers, visitors and the community around health care facilities. This activity took place at Grandmed Lubuk Pakam Hospital. This activity was aimed at 96 patients in the hospital, with the aim of increasing knowledge regarding preventing HAIs by washing hands properly. One very effective method for preventing the spread of infection is washing hands with soap and using hand sanitizer. Lack of knowledge about efforts to prevent exposure to infectious diseases can influence the frequency of disease occurrence. This activity is carried out through counseling which involves the use of learning videos and direct practice using hand sanitizer. In service activities by providing education related to material on the meaning of hand washing, the importance of washing hands in hospitals, the right time and mandatory hand washing for hospital patients, correct hand washing techniques, use of hand sanitizer, visuals and demonstrations, and education for families and visitors. In this activity, patients are asked to practice correct hand washing procedures.  The results of the activity were obtained from 96 people, 85 people (89%) understood how to wash their hands properly as an effort to prevent and prevent the risk of infection while in hospital or after leaving the hospital.  It is hoped that hospital management will work together with the Infectious Disease Prevention Committee (PPI) officers periodically to prevent and overcome the occurrence of nosocomial infections (HAIs) in the hospital.

Abstract

Background: Adolescence pregnancy poses risks for both mothers and infants, often due to insufficient prenatal care resulting from societal stigmatization and lack of awareness. Around 16 million adolescents aged 15-19 years in the world give birth each year; in Indonesia, the first pregnant women aged <20 years are 45.10%, while in West Sumatra, it is 33.7%. To address this issue, integrated programs and midwifery care have been implemented. However, providing such care to adolescent mothers comes with its own set of challenges.Purpose:  This study aims to conduct a midwifery assessment and intervention protocol for adolescent pregnancy.Method: Qualitative approach The Delphi method involved two rounds of evaluation, with twenty-one participants who were independent practice midwives, six midwives involved in the mother and child health program, and nine midwifery lecturers from accredited educational institutions A (excellent). Participants had at least five years of clinical experience and were selected using purposive non-probability sampling. Participants evaluated statements related to midwifery care during the Delphi process. The validity of these statements was determined by participants providing a minimum score of 3, and the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) was calculated. Statements with a CVR greater than 0.8 were considered valid. Results: Based on expert consensus, important assessments for adolescent pregnant women include addressing issues of gender equality and domestic violence, reproductive and sexual health, risks associated with smoking and substance abuse, maintaining a healthy pregnancy, and adequately preparing for labor and parenthood. Conclusion: Midwifery management and midwifery information were deemed valid dimensions of midwifery care; relational care had one invalid item.

Abstract

Standard precautions are needed to implement the IPC program in hospitals. Implementation of Standard Precautions can be carried out because it is driven by the PPI Committee or Team. The PPI Committee or Team is formed based on needs, workload, and type of health service facilities. The eleven components of standard precautions can be implemented in every health service, especially in Indonesia which is trying to reduce HAIs. HAIs are known as nosocomial infections that occur in hospital patients, where infection has not occurred while the patient has been hospitalized for more than 48 hours. The large risk of infection in hospitals encourages the need to reduce the risk of infection through the PPI Program. A descriptive qualitative research method was chosen to obtain meaning from a number of individuals and social groups. The qualitative research process includes asking questions, collecting data, analyzing data, and interpreting the meaning of the data. The sample in this study was 8 informants, including Hospital Leaders, heads of Hospital Quality, Nurses in charge of the field, Daily Executive Officers, and Executive Nurses in service units. The results show that the PPI policy has been implemented well which includes the PPI Structure and Team, Infection Surveillance Manual, Standard Precautions and implementation of Hand Hygiene and PPE, as well as the budget. Meanwhile, the condition of facilities and infrastructure is not optimal, such as hand hygiene facilities and use of PPE, collection of HAI infection surveillance data, and training. Conclusion: The Standard Precautions Implementation Policy already exists and is based on Minister of Health Regulation No. 27 of 2017. The results of the Hand Hygiene and PPE compliance audit do not match the Quality Profile, facilities, and infrastructure are not optimal, namely below 100%, and stock in the premises is still limited
