Abstract

Abstract

Energy is the stored capacity to perform work. Energy management is a systematic approach to using energy efficiently without reducing the primary function of a building. This study aims to calculate the Energy Use Intensity (EUI), detail energy consumption, and identify potential energy-saving opportunities in the Faculty of Science and Technology building at Labuhanbatu University. Through preliminary and detailed energy audits, EUI values were obtained using three approaches: 41.74 kWh/m²/year (operational time), 77.74 kWh/m²/year (daily usage) — both categorized as efficient, 6.44 (AC room, highly efficient), and 26.18 (non-AC room, very inefficient). Energy-saving opportunities include replacing fluorescent lights with LED lamps, utilizing natural lighting through windows or glass blocks, and reducing water pump usage by installing storage tanks.

Abstract

Public health challenges in rural areas of Indonesia are often influenced by low nutrition literacy, suboptimal clean and healthy living behaviors (CHLB), and limited access to healthcare services. This community engagement program aimed to improve nutrition literacy, promote preventive health behaviors, and facilitate early detection of health problems among residents of Gung Pinto Village, Karo Regency. The intervention was conducted on July 24, 2025, at the village hall, involving 30 participants from various age groups. The activities included balanced nutrition and CHLB education through interactive lectures and group discussions, as well as anthropometric measurements, physical examinations, and free medical treatment provided according to medical indications. Results revealed that most participants had a waist circumference above the standard threshold (80%), indicating central obesity, alongside complaints of gastritis/dyspepsia (20%), hypertension (6.7%), acute respiratory infections (3.3%), and mild neuralgia (6.7%). The combination of balanced nutrition and CHLB education, along with health screening and medical services, effectively increased awareness and facilitated the early identification of health issues. These findings underscore the need for integrated, context-specific public health approaches that align with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target three on good health and well-being.

Abstract

Abstract Harvesting energy system from RF signals has great potential as an alternative energy source. This research focuses on the performance of an energy harvesting system that converts RF signals into DC Power using components such as Schottky BAT-17 diodes and MKM 100V 1nF capacitors. The main components used in this matching network are a 100 Ohm resistor, 100nH inductor, and 0.33pF capacitor. The 100 Ohm resistor was selected based on impedance analysis to achieve good matching, reduce signal reflections, and increase power transfer efficiency. A 100nH inductor is used to match impedance and filter out unwanted frequencies, chosen because this value provides appropriate inductance at the target frequency. Tests were carried out at distances of 1m, 3m and 5m with Vpp results of 30.4 mV at distances of 1m and 3m, and 45.6 mV at a distance of 5m. The obtained voltage decreases with increasing distance: 3.35 V at 1m, 3.19 V at 3m, and 2.85 V at 5m. Energy conversion efficiency also decreases with increasing distance. In the long term, performance shows good stability even though there is a decrease in voltage and efficiency. Technical obstacles such as signal degradation and efficiency can be overcome by network matching optimization.

Abstract

Developing and modeling strategies for sustainable renewable energy always involve complex optimization problems including design, planning, and control, which are often computationally intractable for conventional optimization methods. Advances in artificial intelligence technology have provided many optimization methods to handle these complex problems effectively and inspired by their promising performance and becoming increasingly popular nowadays for future energy. In this paper, we summarize recent advances in optimization methods inspired by advances in artificial neural network technology, evolutionary algorithms, and hybridization applied to the field of sustainable energy development. Modeling for the prediction of operational solar radiation is very important for decision-making, resource variability, and energy demand. This paper presents an ANN-based method to generate DNI forecast operations using weather and aerosol forecasts of each data. The ANN model is designed to predict weather and aerosol variables at a certain time as input, while the other models use the DNI forecast improvement period before the instant forecast. The developed model uses observations of the North Sumatra location and the results of DNI forecasting are obtained every 10 minutes on the first day with DNI forecasting compared to the initial forecast that comes down based on modeling with R2, MAE, and RMSE and provides a good fit to the experimental data. Energy modeling strategy is one of the basic concepts in maintaining security, comfort, and privacy by creating a green and emission-free environment. The concept of development and modeling strategy of new renewable energy for the future is increasingly attracting attention to be studied and observed more deeply to prepare for sustainable future energy.
