Abstract

This study aims to critically examine how Butonese local wisdom values are internalized within school management practices and how these values are negotiated in response to modern educational and socio-cultural dynamics.  This study employed a qualitative approach with a critical ethnographic design. Data were collected through prolonged participant observation, in-depth semi-structured interviews with key informants (principals, teachers, students, and community leaders), and document analysis. Data were analyzed using an interactive model involving thematic coding, categorization, and interpretation. The findings indicate that local wisdom values such as gau and pombala (deliberation), poromu inda posaangu (collectivity), and tuturakana sara (honesty and justice) are institutionally embedded in school management processes. However, the internalization of these values does not occur linearly but is shaped through ongoing negotiations between institutional expectations and the realities of students' lives. Tensions arise especially when students face the conflicting influences of digital culture and the social environment, resulting in adaptive, selective, and sometimes resistant behaviors aligning with cultural norms. This study highlights that value internalization is a dynamic socio-cultural process, not a fixed outcome. Schools function not only as transmitters of cultural values but also as mediating spaces where local and global values are negotiated. This study contributes to broadening the understanding of culturally responsive character education by emphasizing the importance of adaptive, context-sensitive strategies. Keywords: buton society, character education, cultural negotiation, ethnography. local wisdom.

Abstract

Background: Previous translation systems for the Lampung dialect of nyo to Indonesian achieved bilingual evaluation understudy (BLEU) scores below 40%, primarily due to challenges in processing affixed words. Objective: This research aims to perform stemming on affixed words in the Lampung dialect of nyo to enhance the performance of the translation system. Methods: We developed an n-gram stemming approach that reduces affixed words to their base forms by measuring similarity between n-grams using the Dice coefficient method. When similarity exceeds a specified threshold, the system identifies the corresponding base word. Results: Using a dataset of 700 words from the Lampung dialect of nyo, we constructed a comprehensive stemmer covering all affix variations. The optimal threshold was determined to be 0.5, achieving bigram accuracy of 93.86% and trigram accuracy of 89.14%. These accuracy levels demonstrate the method's effectiveness in identifying base word forms, which directly impacts translation quality improvement. Conclusion: N-gram stemming with a 0.5 threshold effectively processes the Lampung dialect of nyo morphology and shows potential for enhancing translation accuracy. This work represents the first comprehensive stemming system specifically designed for the Lampung dialect of nyo, contributing to the development of natural language processing tools for underrepresented regional languages in Indonesia.

Abstract

Bubiti oral literature, poetry from the Lampung Pubian tradition that is starting to become extinct due to limited documentation, is rarely used by the Lampung community, and there is a lack of digital teaching materials. Other Lampung literary research only focuses on social functions or other general types of literature; this study specifically digitizes Bubiti literary texts that have never been documented in learning media before. This study aims to develop and test the feasibility and effectiveness of Bubiti text e-modules based on Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) for elementary school students. This study uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) method development design. The feasibility test was carried out through expert validation, while the effectiveness test used a one-group pretest-posttest design for 27 fourth-grade students. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a learning outcome improvement test (N-Gain). The product feasibility assessment obtained an average score of 3.64 (91%), involving material experts, learning media experts, and Lampung language educators to ensure the quality of the media content and appearance. The effectiveness test showed an increase in learning outcomes with an N-Gain value of 0.67 (medium-high category). Student responses also demonstrated a high level of practicality. The TPACK-based Bubiti e-module proved valid, practical, and effective in improving Lampung literary literacy while also serving as a digital-based cultural preservation medium.

Abstract

Integrating local cultural knowledge into digital mathematics learning remains underexplored despite growing interest in culturally responsive education. This study developed and evaluated **Etnolamp**, an interactive ethnomathematics learning environment that combines Lampung cultural contexts with Articulate Storyline to support contextual learning of Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SPLDV). The study employed a research and development approach adapted from the Borg and Gall model, encompassing needs analysis, product design, expert validation, revision, and limited classroom implementation involving 16 ninth-grade students in Indonesia. Data were collected through interviews, expert validation instruments, and student response questionnaires to evaluate the product’s validity and practicality. The findings indicate that Etnolamp achieved high expert validation and was perceived by students as a practical and engaging learning resource. By integrating instructional materials, interactive videos, contextual exercises, educational games, and culturally relevant mathematical problems into a single digital platform, the media promoted meaningful connections between abstract algebraic concepts and students’ everyday cultural experiences. This study contributes a culturally responsive multimedia design framework that demonstrates how ethnomathematics and interactive digital technologies can be integrated to support contextual mathematics learning, providing a foundation for future investigations into its effectiveness in improving mathematical understanding and problem-solving

Abstract

Abstract This study developed and evaluated a project-based learning (PjBL) module for Grade 5 Indonesian language lessons on the intrinsic elements of literary texts. Following the ADDIE model, the study combined expert validation, limited practicality testing, and a one-group pretest-posttest field trial. Three experts assessed content, language, and media; six teachers and six students joined the limited trial; and 33 students at SDN 3 Karang Anyar, Bandar Lampung, completed the field implementation. Data were collected through validation sheets, observations, questionnaires, interviews, and creativity tests. Aiken’s V coefficients were .765 for content, .776 for language, and .938 for media. Practicality scores were 88% from teachers and 85% from students. Mean creativity scores increased from 37.73 to 88.11, with a normalized gain of .81. The findings provide preliminary evidence that the module is usable and can support creative responses to literary texts, although the single-group design does not permit a causal inference. Abstract

Linguistic politeness is an important aspect of social interaction, yet existing studies still show differing perspectives that have not been comprehensively integrated. Furthermore, variations in culture, social norms, and power relations make politeness practices difficult to understand comprehensively without systematic synthesis. This study aims to analyze previous research on linguistic politeness across various communication contexts. This is a qualitative study with a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) design. The research subjects were twelve selected scientific articles that met the inclusion criteria as study subjects, without direct trial subjects. The data collection method used documentation techniques with a systematically designed data extraction sheet instrument. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of identification, screening, feasibility assessment, and thematic synthesis. The results of the study indicate that linguistic politeness is contextual and influenced by cultural values, social norms, social distance, and power dynamics between speakers, with variations in politeness and impoliteness strategies emerging across the interpersonal, institutional, and digital realms. The conclusion of this study confirms that linguistic politeness is an adaptive social practice and is not universal. The implications of this research include strengthening the theoretical framework of pragmatics, developing contextual language learning, and increasing the effectiveness of cross-cultural and professional communication in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines Piil Pesenggiri as the basic framework of education based on local wisdom and its role in promoting cultural identity and social cohesion among the people of Lampung Pepadun. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with a case study in Baradatu District, Way Kanan Regency. The research data were obtained through in-depth interviews with traditional leaders as well as document studies of the Kuntara Raja Niti customary law book and ethnopedagogical literature. The data were analysed thematically through the flow of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, with validity tested through the triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of the study show that Piil Pesenggiri functions as a cultural norm of the Lampung Pepadun community, which animates four main values:  Nemui Nyimah (friendliness), Nengah Nyappur (social involvement), Bejuluk Beadek (recognition of customary titles), and Sakai Sambayan (mutual cooperation). The consistency of this value in the oral traditions and the text of  Kuntara Raja Niti confirms its position as an adaptive living law. Ethnopedagogically, the integration of Piil Pesenggiri in education effectively shapes the character, social responsibility, and tolerance of students. Viewed from the perspective of Durkheim's social functionalism, this local wisdom provides a common moral framework that strengthens the social cohesion of society. In addition, these values align with the fulfilment of SDGs 11 (Sustainable Communities) and SDGs 16 (Peace and Resilient Institutions), positioning Baradatu's local wisdom as the strategic foundation of culture-based sustainable development.
