Abstract

For the sake of reinforcing the local knowledge (that seems to be abandoned by local community of West Lampung themselves) and to make corrections against agroforestry malpractices as well as of accommodating to the poor performance of extension programs on recharge area of West Lampung (including of media lacking of extension), we have developed the entertainment media of pictorial story books of coffee agroforestry. The media were designed especially for the low literate community (Nurhaida et al., 2004) to affirm the tao of knowledge of the four tribes dwell in the recharge area: Lampungese, Semendonese, Sundanese and Sundanese of villages of Way Mengaku, Sukananti, Sidomakmur and Gunung Terang respectively (see Nurhaida et al., (2005). There are four languages edition in accordance with the locally mother tongues of the four tribes plus Indonesian to accommodate the other tribes exist in West Lampung. Desk activities were conducted at the Laboratory of Multimedia, Departmentof Communication Science, The University of Lampung Indonesia. Media pretesting were conducted twice in August-September 2005 to measure the variables of attraction, self involvement, acceptability and comprehension of the media in accordance with Bertrand’s suggestion (1978). Between the two and the second of the media pretesting, there had been conducted the media improvements. The research showed that the entertainment media have been used up to be a learning media for the propose of extension program in the recharge area successfully. This claim is supported by the high effectiveness of the five editions: (Lampungese, Semendonese, Javanese, Sundanese and Indonesian of 85, 89, 88, 89, and 86% repectively) that brookthrough aggaints the severely heavied barrier of low litteracy : 27, 44, 39, 77, dan 88 words per second respectively. It is strongly recommended that: (1) reproduce the media and disseminate into community dwell on the recharge of West Lampung to reinforce the tao of knowledge, and (2) conduct the similar research on other recharge areas.

Abstract

Data base provided for a bottom-up development communication program and for given farmer voice in a debate of recharge area function sustainability at West Lampung, was conducted by inventory to local knowledge of agroforestry practices in August up to September 2004. Based upon the tribe dominant existed in the areas, four villages have been chosen as the area of study, i.e., Way Mengaku (Lampungese), Sukananti (Semendonese), Sidomakmur (Javanese), and Fajar Bulan (Sundanese). Four or five informants from 25 farmers visited have been founded in each village. The survey also intended to observe physical, socioeconomical and cultural characteristic. The main result achieved was 1) The Tao of local knowledge in the agroforestry practices needed to be affirmed was (a) seed selection, planting space for both coffee and shading trees, and multi-strata planting system exist in four tribes; (b) minimum tillage and litter basalt ground covering (Lampungese and Semendonese); (c) legume cover cropping (Javanese); (d) tuakh sakhak (Lampungese), kapak kulai (Semendonese), pungkak and stek of both tribes as the practices of coffee crop rejuvenation; (e) sheep, chicken, goose, duck poultry (Lampungese, Javanese, and Sundanese); and (f) fishery existed in Sudanese tribe. 2) The wrong practices in coffee agroforestry that need to be halted were (a) land clearing, cutting tree in the forest, slash and burn that existed in four tribes; (b) intensive soil tillage (Javanese); (c) litter basalt removing from land surface (Javanese). 3) The custom and the habituation found such as ngumbai (Lampungese), tunggu tumbang (Semendonese), and the custom in determination of planting event based on part of crop anatomy (Lampungese) or the star revolution (Semendonese) did not need to be halted.

Abstract

Application Programming Interface (API) is an interface built by system developer so some or entire functions of the system can programatically be accessed. Representational State Transfer (REST) is one of API development architectural style that uses Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) for data communication. This research implemented REST in developing API as the back-end of the skincare clinic patient information system. API was developed using Javascript Object Notation (JSON) as the standard format for data communication and JSON Web Token (JWT) as user authentication code. This research indicates that the development of API successfully performed on the patient administration of skin care clinic and implementation of REST makes it easy to develop API structures. This research produced REST API-based back-end for the patient administration information system of skin care clinic. API was tested in three stages: JWT testing on multiple back-end servers, API testing with Equivalence Partitioning and system functional testing. Keywords: application programming interface (api), hypertext transfer protocol (http), javascript object notation (json), json web token (jwt), representational state transfer (rest).

Abstract

Gita Persada Butterfly Park is the only breeding of engineered in situ butterflies in Indonesia. It is located in Lampung and has approximately 211 species of breeding butterflies. Each species of Butterflies has a different texture on its wings. The Limited ability of the human eye to distinguishing typical textures on butterfly species is the reason for conducting a research on butterfly identification based on pattern recognition. The dataset consists of 600 images of butterfly?s upper wing from six species: Centhosia penthesilea, Papilio memnon, Papilio nephelus, Pachliopta aristolochiae, Papilio peranthus and Troides helena. The pre-processing stage is conducted using scaling, segmentation and grayscale methods. The GLCM method is used to recognize the characteristics of butterfly images using pixel distance  and Angular direction 0o, 45o, 90o and 135o. The features used is angular second moment, contrast, homogeneity and correlation. KNN classification method in this study uses k values1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21 and 23 based on the Rule of Thumb. The result of this study indicate that Centhosia penthesilea and Papilio nephelus classes can be classified properly compared to the other 4 classes and require a classification time of 2 seconds at each angular orientation. The highest accuracy is 91.1% with a value of  in the angle of 90o and error rate8.9%. Classification error occured because the value of the test data features is more dominant with the value of the training image features in different classes than the supposed class.  Another reason is because of imperfect test data.

Abstract

Writer identification is a sub-field in handwriting recognition which its objective is to determine the identity of the writer based on handwriting input. The goal is usually for forensic purposes such as finding the perpetrators of crimes that leave traces of evidence in the form of written messages. In addition, writer identification can also be used to determine the identity of a historical actor if he or she leaves a valuable written artefact. The object of this research is the traditional character of the Lampung region which is so-called Had Lampung by the local community. The traditional character of Lampung consists of 20 main characters and 12 diacritics. Based on selected characters, the writer will be recognized using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) feature. PCA is one linear feature extraction method of an object in pattern recognition. The PCA algorithm consists of several stages, namely the calculation of the average dataset, the subtraction of the vector dataset with averages, the calculation of covariance, the calculation of eigenvectors and eigenvalues, eigenvector reduction, and the projection of the dataset against reduced eigenvector space. PCA in this paper is used as a feature in image recognition. The dataset utilized in this study is the Lampung Dataset which is a handwritten character recognition (HWCR) dataset. Lampung Dataset consists of 82 Lampung handwritten documents. All Lampung character images in the dataset were extracted from these documents using the connected component extraction algorithm and eventually generated 32,140 images. Furthermore, these images are converted into grayscale images. In this research, as many as 12,500 grayscale images of Lampung handwriting characters were chosen to represent 82 different writers. This data is employed as training and testing data on the proposed method. The highest accuracy of the identification of the writer using this PCA feature is 82.92%, while the lowest accuracy is 28.29%.

Abstract

Furniture catalogs display items statically in 2-dimensional form only. Buyers often want to observe furniture in a real room. Home-View application in this study can display 3D furniture objects as they want. Home-View App has been developed with Augmented Reality technology. Application is developed using the Vuforia SDK library and User Defined Target (UDT) method in the Unity3D software. UDT is utilized to display 3D furniture on a target like magazine and book covers. Home-View application has two menus namely Marker Katalog and HomeView. Marker Katalog serves as a method to view 3D furniture in a small form in the furniture catalog. HomeView serves as a way to view 3D furniture in the desired room. This application has a positioning feature on the x and y axis and rotating feature on the z axis. The application can run by displaying 3D furniture to its actual size at the HomeView menu and successfully displaying 3D furniture as listed on the catalog at the Marker Katalog menu.

Abstract

Beberapa faktor menyebabkan rendahnya kualitas dan produktivitas kopi di Indonesia. Alasan utama permasalahan ini adalah gangguan hama dan penyakit. Sebagian besar petani kopi di Indonesia, khususnya di Provinsi Lampung adalah petani kopi yang tidak terdidik. Para petani masih menggunakan cara tradisional dalam mengidentifikasi hama dan penyakit. Dengan menggunakan sistem pakar diharapkan petani dapat melakukan diagnosis hama dan penyakit kopi secara akurat. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah membangun sistem pakar berbasis web untuk mendiagnosis hama dan penyakit tanaman kopi. Untuk mengidentifikasi hama dan penyakit tanaman kopi, teknik Breadth First Search digunakan. Data terdiri dari 5 hama, 5 penyakit, dan 28 gejala dari hama dan penyakit pada tanaman kopi. Certainty Factor digunakan untuk menentukan bobot setiap gejala dan nilainya ditentukan oleh pakar dan pengguna. Selanjutnya Certainty Factor secara iteratif dihitung oleh sistem untuk mengukur persentase hasil diagnosis. Untuk mengevaluasi sistem ini, 30 pengguna dipilih dan dikelompokkan menjadi 3 kelompok (pakar kopi, petani dan mahasiswa Fakultas Pertanian, mahasiswa jurusan Ilmu Komputer). Pengguna diminta untuk menilai sistem dengan mengisi kuesioner. Pengguna menyimpulkan bahwa sistem pakar berjalan dengan baik dengan persentase masing-masing 75.56%, 73,78% dan 83.39%.

Abstract

Audit teknologi informasi pada PT XYZ dilakukan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana tingkat kapabilitas teknologi informasi perusahaan dan memberikan rekomendasi guna memperbaiki kinerja teknologi informasi untuk mencapai tujuan bisnis perusahaan. Standar kontrol yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) yang terdiri dari komponen Control Environment, Risk Assessment, Control Activities, Information and Communication, dan Monitoring. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi apakah sistem sudah dilengkapi dengan kontrol yang dijalankan dengan baik dan benar. Dari hasil penelitian, capability level pada PT XYZ dalam layanan teknologi informasi berada pada level 4 (Predictable Process) dengan nilai 4,17. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa proses atau kegiatan teknologi informasi pada PT XYZ telah dilakukan dengan konsisten dan memiliki batasan yang ditentukan oleh perusahaan. Nilai expected level yang ingin dicapai berada pada level 5 (Optimizing Process). Perbedaan hasil level ini terjadi karena bagian IT PT XYZ belum melakukan pengawasan dan evaluasi lebih lanjut untuk menunjang kegiatan perusahaan.
