Abstract

ABSTRAK Prevalensi Covid-19 yang muncul pada akhir 2019 terus meningkat hingga saat ini dan masih dikategorikan sebagai pandemi. Berbagai upaya telah dilakukan mulai dari penerapan protokol kesehatan, mengonsumsi vitamin, hingga melakukan aktivitas dari rumah. Upaya tersebut harus dilakukan oleh setiap individu untuk menekan dan memutus rantai penyebaran virus ini. Oleh karena itu perlu diberikan penyuluhan dengan tujuan meningkatkan kesadaran dan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang Covid-19 serta nutrisi yang diperlukan selama pandemi. Kegiatan ini diikuti sebanyak 30 responden di Kecamatan Tampan, Pekanbaru dengan menggunakan media leaflet. Pada saat pemberian informasi juga diberikan masker serta vitamin C. Vitamin dapat berfungsi sebagai antioksidan dan digunakan untuk meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh selama pandemi. Berdasarkan kegiatan, terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat yang dibuktikan dengan nilai rerata pre-test 44,04 menjadi 92,87 pada saat post-test. Disarankan kedepannya untuk melakukan pengabdian dengan ruang lingkup yang lebih besar. Kata Kunci: Covid-19, Nutrisi, Pengetahuan ABSTRACT The prevalence of Covid-19 which emerged at the end of 2019 continues to increase until now and is still categorized as a pandemic. Various efforts have been made, starting from implementing health protocols, vitamins consumptions, and activities or work from home (WFH). These efforts must be made by each individual to suppress and break the chain of infection stopping covid-19. Therefore, it is necessary to provide counseling with the aim of increasing public awareness and knowledge about Covid-19 and the nutrition needed during the pandemic. This activity was attended by 30 respondents in Tampan District, Pekanbaru using leaflet media. At the time of providing information, masks and vitamin C were also given. Vitamins can function as antioxidants and are used to increase body resistance during a pandemic. Based on the activity, there was an increase in public knowledge as evidenced by the mean value of the pre-test from 44.04 to 92.87 at the time of the post-test. It is recommended in the future to do service with a larger scope. Keywords: covid-19, nutrition, knowledge

Abstract

The tendency of society at this time to return to nature (Back to nature) is by using plants as treatment. The use of star fruit as the main ingredient in the manufacture of a hand sanitizer spray on the basis of star fruit has flavonoid compounds that have the potential as antibacterial. Hand sanitizer spray is made into 3 formulas with a concentration ratio of F1 (10%), F2 (12%), and F3 (15%). Each formula was subjected to physical tests in the form of organoleptic tests, pH tests, homogeneity tests and freeze and thaw stability tests for 6 storage cycles at 4°C and 40°C. The organoleptic results showed that the preparation did not change during four weeks of storage. On examination, the pH of the preparation decreased for F1 with a pH of 5.25 to 4.88; F2 with a pH of 5.14 becomes 4.77, and F3 with a pH of 4.87 becomes 4.60 but this value is still included in the specified range. The homogeneity of the preparations F1, F2, and F3 was only homogeneous in the first week and for the stability of the preparations F1, F2 and F3 were only stable in cycle 1 and cycle 2.

Abstract

Jerawat merupakan salah satu penyakit kulit yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus dan Staphylococcus epidermis. Salah satu bahan alam yang dapat dimanfaatkan yaitu ekstrak etanol buah belimbing wuluh (eBW) yang berkhasiat sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasi sediaan serum wajah yang stabil secara farmasetik dan memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus dan Staphylococcus epidermis dengan metode difusi cakram. Sediaan serum wajah diformulasi pada beberapa konsentrasi eBW yaitu FI (10%), FII (15%), dan FIII (20%). Evaluasi sediaan serum wajah meliputi pemeriksaan organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, daya sebar, freeze and thaw, serta aktivitas antibakteri. Analisa data secara deskriptif dan uji statistik One Way ANOVA. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan formulasi serum ekstrak etanol buah belimbing wuluh pada semua formula memiliki stabilitas fisik yang baik yang ditunjukkan dengan pengujian stabilitas freeze and thaw tidak mengalami pemisahan fase, tampilan fisik, bentuk, bau, warna tidak berubah serta susunan yang homogen pada semua sediaan. Namun pada bagian pemeriksaan pH dan daya sebar mengalami penurunan dari minggu pertama ke minggu terakhir. Hasil uji One way ANOVA terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan (p<0,05) antar formula terhadap diameter zona hambat. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi eBW, maka akan semakin tinggi aktivitas antibakterinya. Formula III (20%) memiliki daya hambat paling besar dibandingkan formula lainnya dengan daya hambat secara berurutan pada bakteri Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus, dan Staphylococcus epidermis yaitu 18,10±0,20 mm, 17,03±0,35 mm dan 17,00±0,26 mm.

Abstract

Degenerative a disease that continues to grow and can affect a person's productivity and quality of life. Usually, people only check themselves after their symptoms, even though early detection is important. The aim of the service is to provide an overview and improve the status of the community both promotively, preventively, or curatively by providing counseling about degenerative diseases. The method used is to conduct a health examination and continued with the provision of counseling. The activity was attended by 42 people in the Car Free Day area of Pekanbaru city. The activity begins with a health check that is tailored to the symptoms felt and continues with counseling. Many factors cause degenerative diseases, such as genetics, age, physical activity, and diet. This activity can increase public insight and knowledge about degenerative diseases.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Aloe vera (Aloe chinensis Barker.) has been shown to be efficacious as an antibacterial which has the potential to treat acne caused by the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes. The use of this combination can increase the viscosity, dissolution, diffusion, and bioavailability of the preparation. This study aims to determine the effect of the combination of Carbopol base and HPMC as a gelling agent on the physical properties and antibacterial activity of aloe vera gel against P. acnes bacteria. Aloe vera flesh extract was obtained using 70% ethanol maceration method. The gel preparation has an active substance concentration of 0.50% using a combination base of Carbopol:HPMC with a ratio of 1.00:0.50; 0.75:0.75; and 0.50:1.00. The tests included tests of adhesion, dispersibility, and viscosity as well as measurement of antibacterial activity by measuring the diameter of the inhibition zone formed on the media. The resulting data from the physical properties of the gel were analyzed by linear regression correlation. While the data on the results of the antibacterial activity were analyzed by statistical tests using the ANOVA method. The results showed that with increasing concentration of HPMC, the adhesive power and viscosity decreased, but the dispersion power increased. The three gel formulations had different zones of inhibition due to differences in diffusion that occurred in the test medium.  Keywords: Aloe Vera, Gel, Propionibacterium Acnes.

Abstract

Quercetin possesses low solubility and decreases oral bioavailability. One way to increase the bioavailability of quercetin is by formulating a self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (SNEDDS). In vitro dissolution testing of SNEDDS needs to be carried out using a validated analytical method. This study aims to validate the quercetin analytical method in in vitro dissolution testing. Validation was carried out with two solvents, namely hydrochloric acid buffer pH 1.2 (HCl-1,2) and phosphate buffer pH 6.8 (PO-6.8). It tested some parameters, including linearity, detection limit (LoD), quantification limit (LoQ), accuracy, and precision. The quercetin calibration curve for both solvents has a value of r≥0.999. The LoD at HCl-1,2 and PO-6,8 were 0.26 ppm and 0.27 ppm, respectively. The LoQ of HCl-1,2 and PO-6,8 were 0.86 ppm and 0.91 ppm, respectively. The percentage recovery in both solvents was in the range of 80-110%. The relative standard deviation of the two solvents was less than 7.3%. The quercetin analytical method has been successfully validated as indicated by the results of linearity, detection limit, quantification limit, accuracy, and precision that met the requirements

Abstract

Minyak nilam (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) yang memiliki konstituen utama patchouli alcohol menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan. Karakteristik khusus dari minyak nilam yaitu memiliki sifat volatilitas yang tinggi sehingga perlu untuk diformulasi menjadi bentuk sediaan yang lebih stabil seperti nanoemulsi. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendapatkan konsentrasi optimum dari masing-masing komponen penyusun nanoemulsi yang melibatkan proses yaitu waktu pengadukan yang menghasilkan sediaan nanoemulsi dengan karakteristik yang baik   menggunakan Box Behnken Design (BBD) serta melakukan uji aktivitas antioksidan nanoemulsi minyak nilam. Konsentrasi Smix (surfaktan dan kosurfaktan), air, dan waktu pengadukan merupakan faktor yang diamati dalam optimasi formula dan sebagai respon digunakan persen transmitan. Karakteristik yang diamati antara lain rata-rata ukuran partikel, indeks polidispersitas, dan zeta potensial. Berdasarkan data diagram fase digunakan minyak nilam 5%. Data hasil optimasi diperoleh nilai konsentrasi Smix 24%, air 35,511%, dan waktu pengadukan 5,516 menit, memberikan nilai rata-rata ukuran partikel 12,76 nm, indeks polidispersitas 0,162, dan zeta potensial -26,1 mV. Aktivitas antioksidan nanoemulsi minyak nilam menunjukkan nilai IC50 >1000 ppm. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa Box Behnken Design (BBD) dapat digunakan untuk optimasi nanoemulsi minyak nilam yang menghasilkan nanoemulsi dengan karakteristik yang baik. Penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk menentukan konsentrasi minyak nilam yang diformulasikan sebagai nanoemulsi untuk penggunaan sebagai antioksidan.

Abstract

There are still considerable levels of drug use in several Indonesian regions. For health practitioners, like pharmacists in this case, raising public awareness about drug usage is still a task and struggle, particularly during the month of fasting. Meal timings will vary during Ramadan, thus it is necessary to modify the time you take your prescription as well. Medication that is taken every six or eight hours needs to be controlled in order for the patient to continue fasting. This project involved using pamphlets and surveys to educate 24 respondents about drug usage during the month-long fast at the Rumbai Bukit Community Health Center. The purpose of performing this community service is to perhaps educate the community on when to take medications during the fasting month, how to take medications correctly, and which medications do not interfere with fasting. Based on data analysis results, respondents who answered five questions correctly on the pre-test (i.e., with errors of 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1) had an average score of 0%, 4.16%, 50%, 41.6%, and 4.16% to 0% on the post-test, indicating an increase in public knowledge. In an attempt to educate or empower the community, it is advised that a planned and organized community service project be implemented.

Abstract

Emulgel is a pharmaceutical formulation that integrates the characteristics of both emulsions and gels, resulting in a semisolid product. The utilization of emulgel formulations has been shown to enhance the efficacy of drug delivery by facilitating deeper skin penetration and subsequently augmenting its pharmacological activity. The antioxidant and sunscreen properties of cinnamon bark extract make it suitable for incorporation into an emulgel formulation. Variations in the concentration of extracts and gelling agents can have an impact on the physical properties, stability, and pharmacological efficacy of the emulgel. The objective of this review is to ascertain the optimal concentrations of extracts and gelling agents in emulgel formulations for enhanced efficacy. The employed methodology entails conducting a comprehensive review of scholarly articles pertaining to emulgel formulations containing cinnamon bark extract. These formulations encompass a range of concentrations of both the extract itself and gelling agents, while also possessing antioxidant and sunscreen properties. The formulation that is recommended is one that satisfies the criteria pertaining to its physical attributes, stability, and pharmacological efficacy. The emulgel formulation that best meets the specified criteria consists of a 1% concentration of cinnamon bark extract in combination with the gelling agent Viscolam MAC 5%.

Abstract

Penyakit kronis merupakan penyebab utama morbiditas dan mortalitas di seluruh dunia, termasuk di Indonesia. Penyakit seperti diabetes mellitus, hipertensi, penyakit jantung, dan penyakit paru obstruktif kronik (PPOK) tidak hanya berdampak pada kualitas hidup individu, tetapi juga memberikan beban ekonomi dan sosial yang signifikan bagi keluarga dan sistem pelayanan kesehatan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas kesehatan masyarakat melalui pemberian edukasi mengenai penyakit kronis, meliputi pemahaman tentang gejala, faktor risiko, serta strategi pencegahannya. Edukasi diikuti oleh 50 orang masyarakat yang menghadiri Car Free Day Jalan Sudirman, Pekanbaru, Provinsi Riau. Metode yang digunakan adalah edukasi secara langsung menggunakan media leafleat dan diskusi tanya jawab. Materi edukasi adalah penyakit kronis seperti hipertensi, diabetes dan asam urat, dengan tema CERIA (Cegah Hipertensi Diabetes dan Asam Urat), mulai dari cara pencegahan, mengetahui gejala dan faktor risiko penyebab penyakit kronis tersebut. Untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat maka dilakukan pemberian lembar ceklis tes awal dan tes akhir. Hasil dari analisis tes awal dan tes akhir menggunakan uji Wilcoxon. Hasil uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan p value sebesar 0,000 dimana nilai tersebut lebih kecil dari 0,05 sehingga dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan antara tes awal dan tes akhir pengetahuan responden. Kegiatan pengabdian ini telah berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang penyakit kronis. Diharapkan dengan adanya program pengabdian masyarakat ini dapat mencegah tejadinya hipertensi, diabetes dan asam urat serta dapat meningkatkan derajat kesehatan masyarakat.
