Abstract

This article examines how waqf reform in the waqf law and how it is relevant to waqf reform in Muslim countries. This paper is qualitative with a normative juridical approach. This paper reveals that there are many waqf legal updates contained in the waqf law that are very different from the classical fiqh concept. These legal updates include the possibility of term or temporary waqf, the permissibility of movable waqf such as money, the obligation to record waqf pledges with PPAIW and many more. This spirit of renewal has also occurred in Muslim countries such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia. This shows that Indonesia is somewhat late in responding to the times related to the utilization of waqf institutions in a modern context, and it turns out that these updates show that the boundaries of madzhab become more flexible, although Indonesia is considered an adherent of the shafi'I madzhab, but in the context of waqf, many Maliki legal concepts are adopted by the waqf law.

Abstract

Abstract

Muslims are taught to eat clean and safe food. Islam is very concerned about the source and cleanliness of food, how to cook, how to serve, how to eat to how to dispose of leftovers.  The concept of Islam in food is actually the same as the concept of Islam in other respects, namely the concept that maintains the safety of the soul, body, and mind.  Halal food is allowed because it benefits the mind and body.  Conversely, bad food is not allowed because it will damage the mind and body. The research method used was descriptive qualitative research methods. Data obtained from a variety of literature that discusses The Effects of Haram Food on Human Emotional and Spiritual Intelligence Levels, both in the form of books and journals. Data collection techniques by means of literature study, data analysis needed in library studies obtained from a number of references in the form of books, journals, encyclopedias, documents and others that are considered to have a relationship and can support the solution of existing problems. Data was analyzed by using qualitative data analysis techniques. Halal food and haram both have a big influence on someone's life, both influential for morals, peace of mind, and fulfillment of prayer. People who always fill themselves with halal food, then the morals will be good, his heart will be calm and his prayers will be answered. Conversely, people who fill themselves with haram food will be bad in character, their hearts will be sick, and their prayers will not answered.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the ḥifẓ al-dīn program is designed, implemented, and interpreted in realizing the motto of SMA Plus Al-Azhar Jember. The study addresses the need to understand ḥifẓ al-dīn not only as a normative concept within Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah, but also as a managerial framework for organizing school-based religious formation. Its key argument is that religious preservation becomes educationally meaningful when it is institutionalized through structured programs, daily habituation, and character-building activities. This study employed qualitative field research with a phenomenological orientation. Data were collected through two in-depth interview sessions with the principal on 24 April 2025 and 27 April 2025, supported by field observations of routine religious activities and documentation of school programs. The data were analyzed through reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, while credibility was strengthened through methodological triangulation and member checking. The findings show that the ḥifẓ al-dīn program is managed through two main orientations: strengthening students’ spirituality and forming Islamic character. Spiritual strengthening is reflected in Asmā’ al-Ḥusnā recitation, Qur’anic tadarus, Shalawat Nariyah, Duha prayer, congregational prayers, and Rohis activities. Islamic character formation is developed through leadership training, digital da‘wah, and Ta’lim Senin. These programs shape three main expressions in students’ daily lives: worship, adab, and achievement orientation. The study contributes to Islamic education scholarship by positioning ḥifẓ al-dīn as a practical framework for religious program management. However, because this study was limited to one school and one key informant, future research should involve broader participants and comparative school contexts.

Abstract

Bureaucratic simplification through the structural-to-functional position equivalency policy represents one of the most transformative civil service reforms in Indonesia. This study examines the extent to which this policy has optimized the duties, functions, and career development of nine civil servants at the Badan Kepegawaian dan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia Daerah (BKPSDMD) Kota Jambi who underwent the equivalency process. Employing a qualitative descriptive case study design, data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews with all nine transitioned officials, two HR managers, and the agency head, supplemented by three months of non-participant observation and systematic documentary analysis of performance records from 2020 to 2023. The findings indicate that while the initial transition period generated genuine challenges—including role ambiguity, loss of formal managerial authority, career pathway uncertainty, technical competency gaps, and psychological adjustment to perceived status change—these difficulties were confined to the first three to six months and proved entirely surmountable. Once officials adapted to their functional roles, performance outcomes improved markedly: the proportion rated 'Good' or 'Very Good' rose from 56 percent pre-transition to 89 percent post-adaptation. Career development engagement also intensified, with annual training participation increasing by 65 percent, the domain-specific technical training share rising from 33 percent to 69 percent, and eight of nine officials on track for functional grade promotion within three years. The study concludes that the equivalency policy has fulfilled its core objectives at BKPSDMD Kota Jambi, and that the quality of institutional transition support—particularly peer mentoring, targeted technical training, and individualized career counseling—is the decisive factor determining the speed and quality of adaptation outcomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the motives of Sumedang residents in consuming Sumedang Ekspres as their primary mass media. People in the Sumedang region, West Java, are significant to examine because of their unique characteristics in using mass media. They are among the few who still rely on print newspapers for news, especially Sumedang Ekspres, in the age of online media. That is the main reason for looking at their motivation in consuming this newspaper as their primary source of information. This study used quantitative research methods with explanatory case studies, using questionnaires as instruments for collecting data. Theoretically, the audience's needs would be satisfied if their motives in consuming media were met. As a result, certain media that can fulfill the needs will be considered effective outlets. This is a basic assumption of the Uses and Gratifications Theory, which is employed as a theoretical basis of this study. The sample in this study was 95 respondents, taken from residents of Sumedang who consume Sumedang Ekspres on regular basis. The results show that the informational motive, as well as social motive, were implemented moderately by the respondents in terms of consuming Sumedang Ekspres as the major media. It is recommended to conduct further research by looking at the impact of people's motives toward newspaper reading satisfaction.
