Abstract

Abstract. Bilingual Instruction Model for Elementary Students Based on Contrastive Analysis. This study aims at (1) developing a learning model guide book, (2) developing a set of instructional devices, (3) describing student learning outcomes as a result of the implementation of contrastive analysis model, and (4) describing the effectiveness of contrastive analysis model. The results showed that the student learning through contrastive analysis model—experimental treatment increased. The average score of the experimental class is significantly higher than the control class (p<.05). This contrastive analysis-based model of bilingual instruction at elementary school effectively minimizes the occurrence of interference in student essays. Abstrak. Model Pembelajaran Kedwibahasaan Murid SD Berbasis Analisis Kontrastif. Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) mengembangkan buku panduan model pembelajaran, (2)  mengembangkan  perangkat  pembelajaran, (3) mendeskripsikan  hasil belajar  murid  sebagai dampak pelaksanaan  model analisis kontrastif, (4) mendeskripsikan  keefektifan model  analisis  kontrastif.  Hasil   penelitian  menunjukkan  hasil  belajar  murid  melalui model  analisis  kon-trastif  mengalami peningkatan.  Skor  rata-rata pada  kelas  eksperimen  lebih tinggi dari  pada  kelas kontrol, yaitu 52,53 berbanding 66,22. Hasil  analisis uji-T menunjukkan  adanya  perbedaan  yang signifikan  antara  hasil belajar  murid pada kelas  eksperimen  dan kelas kontrol.  Model pembelajaran  kedwibahasaan  murid SD  berbasis analisis  kontrastif  efektif  meminimalkan  terjadinya  interferensi  pada  karangan  murid. Abstract

This research aims to explain the Toraja people’s perspectives regarding the lexicon of kuburan existed in their area. This is a qualitative research using the ethnosemantic approach. Data related to the lexicon of kuburanin the Toraja people were collected by interviewing the natives and traditional leaders there. The data collected then were analyzed using the componential analysis to find out the features from each lexicon of kuburan, so then it can be discovered how the cultural influences of the Toraja people affect the various lexicons of kuburan. The result of this research shows that there are nine lexemes of kuburanknown by the Toraja people, such as liangsilli, liangerong, liang toke, liangpak, tangdan, patani, lamunan, and pasillirankayu. These nine lexemes can be classified based on their social stratification level, age category, and any shapes or positions of the grave. Generally, each lexeme has differences in their function and features. The Toraja culture considers death as the orientation in life. Hence, they relate many things to death, and one of them is grave.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how to use Indonesian sentence patterns on German speaking skills in class XI students of SMA 2 Bantaeng. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The population of this study were all students of class XI SMA 2 Bantaeng. The sample in the study amounted to 32 students. The data obtained were analyzed using percentage techniques. The results of the data analysis showed that the interference with the use of Indonesian sentence patterns on students' German speaking skills was 11.4%.

Abstract

Tujuan  penelitian  ini adalah  untuk  mendapatkan data tentang efektivitas media kartu bergambar dalam keterampilan menulis karangan sederhana bahasa Jerman siswa kelas XI IPS SMA Negeri 1 Segeri. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimen  yang  mengumpulkan datanya melalui tes menulis. Adapun data penelitian ini dianalisis dengan analisis statistik inferensial uji-t. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPS SMA Negeri 1 Segeri yang terdiri atas 4 kelas. Sampel yang digunakan  sampel acak (Random Sampling). Jumlah sampel adalah 2 kelas yakni  kelas XI IPS 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen yang terdiri dari 20 siswa dan kelas XI IPS 4 sebagai kelas kontrol yang teridir dari 20 siswa. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan t hitung 2,98 > t table 2,03 pada taraf signifikan 0,05. Hasil  penelitian  menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media kartu bergambar efektif dalam keterampilan menulis karangan sederhana bahasa Jerman siswa kelas XI IPS SMA Negeri 1 Segeri

Abstract

There are many factors that can influence students' vocabulary mastery in foreign language learning. This study aims to determine the relationship between logical thinking skills and students' mastery of German vocabulary. Research is an experimental study involving only the experimental class without the control class. Data collection techniques are done through writing test and logical thinking test in the form of Intelligent Structure Test (IST). The sample in this study were 21 high school students selected through random sampling techniques. The results of the analysis of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between the ability to think logically with students' mastery of German vocabulary. Students who have good critical thinking skills, tend to more easily remember and understand new vocabulary in learning foreign languages.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the verb conjugation process of German, Bahasa, and English. This study used a contrastive analysis which is one of approaches in applied linguistics. Data consisted of words and sentences in German, Bahasa, and English, and were analyzed descriptively. This article is a preliminary study which aims to do need analysis in developing German grammar book based contrastive analysis approach. Finding shows that there are 4 factors causing verb of a sentence should be conjugated: 1) Verb Conjugation Adjusted with Person as Subject,  2) Verb Conjugation Adjusted with active-passive voice sentence, 3) Verb Conjugation Adjusted with tenses of sentence, 4) Verb Conjugation Adjusted with quantifier factor of sentence subject.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of PBL (Project Based Learning) learning models in Deutsch für Tourismus courses in foreign language majors. This research is an experimental study using one group design as an experimental group without involving the control group. Respondents in this study were 30 students who were programming the Deutsch fuer Tourismus course. Student speaking skills data were measured using assessment rubrics with intervals of 1 to 9. This assessment rubric was adapted from assessments in the IELTS test specifically in aspects of speaking skills. The intervention given was in the form of implementing the PBL model for 6 meetings, where each meeting was 2 hours long. Data analysis techniques used are descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. There are 4 types of advantages of the PBL model that are felt by students when implemented in the learning process namely 1) can trigger students to find and explore ideas or ideas that they want to express when speaking. 2) train students to work in groups to solve a problem. 3) This model produces products that are self-developed by students. 4) The PBL model requires students to read a lot, so that it can have a positive effect in increasing student reading interest. Keywords: Learning Model; Project Based Learning; Deutsch für Tourismus; Speaking Skills

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of teacher’s language impoliteness in triggering students’ bullying behavior. The participants are the primary school students in Makassar by using purposive sampling approach. The participants are students who have bullying cases as a perpetrator in the last one month.  Observation, in-depth interview, and questionnaire are used to collect the data. Data Analysis technique employed was simple linear regression analysis. This study shows that impolite language uttered by the teacher influences students’ bullying behaviors. Students who are used to hearing these impolite utterances from their teachers tend to commit bullying behavior verbally at schools since they tend to consider this behavior as an acceptable behavior.

Abstract

Tujuan dari pelatihan ini ialah untuk meningkatkan  pemahaman pengelola jurnal terkait cara mengelola jurnal khususnya terkait indeksasi nasional dan internasional, serta meningkatkan kemampuan (skill) pengelola jurnal terkait cara mengelola jurnal khususnya terkait indeksasi nasional dan internasional. Berdasarkan hasil analisis respon peserta pelatihan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelatihan pengelolaan jurnal ilmiah yang dilakukan sangat bermanfaat dalam meningkatkan kualitas pengelolaan jurnal ilmiah dalam lingkup Universitas Negeri Makassar. Hal tersebut tentunya akan berdampak positif secara langsung pada peningkatan akreditasi jurnal ilmiah tersebut. Selain itu, berdasarkan respon peserta selama pelatihan dan pendampingan dapat disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan kualitas pengelola jurnal ilmiah merupakan salah satu kompenen dasar yang sangat mempengaruhi kualitas jurnal yang diterbitkan. Pengelola jurnal yang tidak dibekali dengan kemampuan pengelolaan jurnal yang baik tentunya tidak akan mampu melakukan proses manajemen jurnal yang baik.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implication of contrastive analysis in the mastery of prepositions in German and Indonesian by identifying the similarities and differences in terms of morphology, semantics and syntax. This study employed library research technique to collect data related to the use of prepositions in German and Indonesian. The results of analysis found that there are similarities and differences in using the prepositions in German and Indonesian. Based on the word structure or the morphological aspect, prepositions in German and Indonesian are divided into two: primary/pure/basic prepositions and secondary/derivative prepositions. In German and Indonesian, primary prepositions are single words, which are called prepositions with one case in German (Präpositionen mit festem Kasus). From the semantic point of view, German prepositions are divided into four types: 1) prepositions indicating locative relationship, 2) temporal relationship, 3) modal relationship, and 4) cause-effect relationship. In Indonesian, however, prepositions are divided into several types: 1) prepositions indicating location, 2) movement, 3) agents, 4) tools, 5) comparison, 6) a thing or problem, 8) effects, and 9) prepositions indicating purpose. In general, those prepositions have similar meanings with prepositions in German, but the formations are different because prepositions in German use one of the cases: accusative, dative or genitive
