Abstract

Underweight is a condition of body weight based on the toddler's age (BW/A) with a Z-score value <2SD. This study aims to develop TikTok animated videos to help toddlers overcome being underweight. The type of research uses Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, including Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. However, this study is only up to the development stage. Video validation involved three experts, namely material, language, and media experts, with an average result of 80.3 (feasible category, minor revision). Furthermore, trials were carried out on prospective users (n=10) selected by purposive sampling. The results of the product assessment by prospective users were 91.08 (very feasible category, no need to revise). The impact of using the video was measured by a knowledge questionnaire (reliability = 0.743). The results of the knowledge score based on the pretest and posttest on mothers of toddlers obtained an average N-Gain score of 0.84 with a high category. Developing the TikTok animated video product is feasible based on the results of the analysis. It can be applied as educational media to increase the knowledge of mothers of toddlers and overcome the problem of underweight toddlers.

Abstract

Background:  Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) has a significant impact on patients' quality of life (QoL), including physical, psychological, social, and economic aspects. However, a culturally and linguistically adapted Diabetes Quality of Life Brief Clinical Inventory (DQoL-BCI) for Indonesian patients remains limited. A validated Indonesian version of this instrument is necessary to ensure accurate assessment and effective interventions for diabetes management. Objective: This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the Diabetes Quality of Life Brief Clinical Inventory (DQoL-BCI) among patients with T2DM in primary care. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 30 T2DM patients at a primary health care center in Singkawang City, West Borneo, Indonesia. Data were collected through interviews. The DQoL-BCI, a 15-item questionnaire, was used to measure QoL, with responses rated on a 5-point Likert scale. Construct validity and internal consistency were assessed using Pearson’s r and Cronbach’s alpha. Results: All items showed Pearson’s r values greater than 0.361, indicating an adequate correlation with the overall scale and thus validating the items. The highest Pearson’s r values were for satisfaction with the time to determine sugar levels (0.688) and sex life (0.680). The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for all items was 0.887, exceeding the minimum requirement of 0.70, demonstrating excellent internal consistency. Conclusion: The Indonesian version of the DQoL-BCI is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring the QoL in individuals with T2DM in primary care settings.

Abstract

Background: Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors represent a novel class of medications for managing dyslipidemia. Although previous meta-analyses have confirmed their efficacy in lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), few have evaluated their effects on broader lipid parameters. Moreover, most studies focus on the general dyslipidemic population, provided limited insight into specific subgroups. This study specifically investigated the effects of PCSK9 inhibitors on multiple lipid parameters in individuals with dyslipidemia who were statin-intolerant, statin-resistant, or required intensified lipid-lowering treatment. Methods: This study systematically searched PubMed, ScienceDirect, and the Cochrane Library for phase 3 randomized controlled trials (2013-2023), evaluating PCSK9 inhibitors against placebo or non-statin standard care in dyslipidemic patients aged ≥18 years. The main outcome was the changes from baseline in lipid parameters. Random-effects meta-analyses were conducted using RevMan. Results: Eight studies involving 2,343 participants met eligibility criteria. PCSK9 inhibitors significantly reduced LDL-C (MD -46.8, 95% CI [-53.2; -40.4]), non-HDL-C (MD -41.1 [-46.9; -35.3]), total cholesterol (MD -31.5 [-37.8; -25.2]), triglycerides (MD -11.7 [-15.0; -8.4], Lp(a) (MD -19.2 [-25.7; -12.6]), and ApoB (MD -39.4 [-45.0; -33.7]). PCSK9 inhibitors also significantly increased HDL-C (MD 6.3 [4.7; 7.9]) and ApoA-I (MD 4.1 [2.8; 5.5]).Conclusion: PCSK9 inhibitors significantly improve a broad spectrum of lipid parameters, including non-traditional markers such as non-HDL-C, ApoA-I, ApoB, and Lp(a), underscoring their potential role in managing dyslipidemia, particularly in patients inadequately controlled with standard therapies.

Abstract

Murraya koenigii (curry leaf) is a tropical plant known for its diverse phytochemical content and potent antioxidant activity. However, limited studies have provided comprehensive quantitative data on its bioactive compounds, especially from Indonesian varieties. This study aimed to quantitatively analyze flavonoid, saponin, and tannin content in young and mature curry leaves and evaluate their in vitro antioxidant activity using the DPPH assay. An experimental design was conducted from January to March 2025. Ethanolic extracts of young and mature M. koenigii leaves from Aceh were prepared via maceration. Phytochemical quantification was performed using spectrophotometric methods, and antioxidant capacity was assessed using the DPPH radical scavenging assay with IC₅₀ determination. Young leaves showed higher levels of total flavonoids (0.19%), saponins (3.34%), and tannins (5.77%) compared to mature leaves (0.13%, 2.53%, and 4.58%, respectively). However, mature leaf extract exhibited stronger antioxidant activity with an IC₅₀ value of 46.77 μg/mL (very strong category), while young leaves showed 53.14 μg/mL (strong category). This suggests that antioxidant efficacy is influenced more by compound maturity and synergistic effects than total concentration. Mature M. koenigii leaves have superior antioxidant potential despite lower phytochemical concentrations, highlighting the importance of compound quality and interactions between compounds.
