Abstract

Strategi pemenuhan asupan protein dalam rangka peningkatan produktivitas ternak  ruminansia, selain berasal dari protein mikrobial (protein endogeneous) maka juga diperlukan protein exogenous melalui asupan pakan.  Pakan berprotein tinggi umumnya berasal dari hewan. Keong mas berpotensi sebagai sumber protein hewani, akan tetapi protein tersebut perlu diproteksi agar tidak didegradasi oleh mikroba rumen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek level tanin pada proteksi protein tepung keong mas terhadap profil fermentabilitas dan kinerja kecernaan secara in vitro. Penelitian in telah dilaksanakan dengan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap empat perlakuan, meliputi perlakuan P0 = 0% tanin, P1= 1,5% tanin, P2= 3,0% dan P3= 4,5% tanin masing-masing diulang lima kali. Analisis in viro telah dilakukan untuk mengukur fermentabilitas melalui indikator produksi konsentrasi NH3 dan total VFA, serta analisis terhadap kecernaan bahan kering dan organik.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fermentabilitas tepung keong yang diproteksi tanin pada level 1,5% menurun, sedangkan kecernaannya meningkat.  Disimpulkan bahwa tanin mampu melindungi protein tepung keong mas terhadap degradasi mikroba rumen. Kata kunci : keong mas, tanin, fermentabilitas, kecernaan, in vitro

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh proteksi protein bungkil kedelai oleh cairan batang pisang terhadap konsentrasi amonia dan Undegraded Dietary Protein (UDP) (in vitro). Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Nutrisi Ternak Ruminansia dan Kimia Makanan Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Padjadjaran. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan empat perlakuan dan lima ulangan. Perlakuan disusun seperti berikut: T0 (bungkil kedelai+tanin 0%), T1 (bungkil kedelai+tanin 0,5%), T2 (bungkil kedelai+tanin 1%), T3 (bungkil kedelai+tanin 1,5%). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis statistik dengan uji Polinomial Ortogonal dan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proteksi tanin cairan batang pisang pada bungkil kedelai menurunkan konsentrasi amonia  mengikuti persamaan y=6,267-11,27x+16x2-6,2x3(R2=0,803) dan meningkatkan UDP  mengikuti persamaan y=29,224+17,025x(R2=0,955). Konsentrasi amonia terendah dihasilkan oleh T1 (bungkil kedelai+0,5% tanin) dan kandungan Undegraded Dietary Protein tertinggi dihasilkan oleh T3 (bungkil kedelai+1,5% tanin).Kata kunci: Bungkil Kedelai, Tanin, Amonia, Undegraded Dietary Protein, Proteksi Protein, Cairan Batang  Pisang, In Vitro

Abstract

The objective of this study was to study reproductive performance of Friesian Holstein (FH) dairy cows in the three different agro-ecosystems at the operational area of Bayongbong’s cooperative, Garut regency, Indonesia. The method used in this study was the survey method.  The study was carried out in Lebakjaya village, which has drylands and rainfed agricultural ecosystem (AES DL-Rainfed); Cintanagara village which has drylands and irrigated rice field agricultural ecosystem (AES DL-IRF); and Pamalayan village which has drylands tropical forest (AES DL-Forest). The total samples were 208 dairy farmers and 315 head of FH dairy cows from the three places, 18 dairy farmers and 44 head in Lebakjaya village, 95 dairy farmers and 120 head in Cintanegara village, and 95 dairy farmers with 151 head in Pamalayan village. The study used a simple random sampling and the reproductive performances data were obtained from the field and artificial insemination practices. The data were descriptively analyzed using SPSS 22.0.  After that, it was  tested using  T-Student statistical analyses. The results showed that the reproductive performances in AES DL-Rainfed were S/C 2.23 ± 0.45  times, days open (DO) 148.89 ± 65.52 days, and calving interval (CI) 431.00 ± 65.18 days. The reproductive performances in AES DL-IRF were S/C 2.31 ± 0.54 times, DO 161.95 ± 61.99 days, and CI 444.47 ± 61.21 days, and the reproductive performances in AES DL-Forest were S/C 2.11 ± 0.62 times, DO 138.38 ± 47.18 days, and CI 419.86 ± 46.95 days.  The reproductive performances of AES DL-Forest were more efficient (P<0.05) than the AES DL-IRF. It was concluded that the reproductive performances in the three study locations, for the characters of reproductive value S/C and DO deviated from the ideal estimation, whereas the CI was around the ideal estimation.

Abstract

Altitude contributes and plays an important role in the development dairy cows in Indonesia. Altitude is directly related to temperature and humidity, both of which affect cardiovascular function and energy metabolism in dairy cattle. The 120 samples, consisted of 4th-5th lactation Friesian Holstein dairy cows were used in this study. The 40 samples of cattle each spread in three maintenance sites with different altitudes, namely 300 to 500 m above sea level (a.s.l.); 600-900 m a.s.l. and >1,000 m a.s.l. All the study sites located in West Java, Indonesia, to study the effect of altitude on the cardiovascular biomarker and lipid regulation in the dairy cow. Based on the result in this experiment showed that the CRP high sensitivity, H-FABP, homocysteine, and γ-Glutamyl Transpeptidase in Frisian Holstein dairy cows expressed higher levels (P <0.05) at low altitude site (300-500 m a.s.l.) than dairy cows at altitude sites higher (600-900 and >1,000 m a.s.l.), These results indicated, these compounds can be biomarkers for cardiovascular function. This study also showed, the lipid regulation also showed higher levels (P <0.05) at low altitude sites than altitude sites higher.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the simplest quality of milk with organoleptic tests (color, taste, flavour) and milk content of dairy cows before and after treatment. In vivo testing was carried out at PT. Citra Agro Buana Semesta (CABS) Malangbong. The study design used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications. Treatment P1: Complete Ration, P2: P1 + DFM, P3: P1 + DFM + Protein by pass, P4: P1 + DFM + PFM. Analysis of organoleptic test results using the Friedman test and water content in dairy cows was tested by analysis of variance with Duncan's advanced test. Organoleptic research results and water content in milk of dairy cows showed a significant (p<0,05 The organoleptic test results for each treatment showed changes to the control treatment and the low water content obtained in the complete feed supplemented with DFM and PFM that was 86,74 ± 0,609%.

Abstract

Serangkaian kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat telah dilakukan pada bulan Juli sampai dengan November 2019 di Desa Haurngombong Kecamatan Tanjungsari Kabupaten Sumedang. Tujuan dari PPM yang dilaksanakan adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat mengenai manajemen pemeliharaan dan formulasi ransum untuk pedet sapi perah. Sasaran pelaksanaan kegiatan adalah peternak sapi perah anggota kelompok peternak Harapan Jaya di Desa Haurngombong Kecamatan Tanjungsari, Kabupaten Sumedang.  Metode penyuluhan yang digunakan adalah ceramah dan pelatihan. Peserta yang hadir pada kegiatan penyuluhan sebanyak 24 orang terdiri atas peternak dan mahasiswa peserta KKN di desa Haurngombong. Hasil kegiatan disimpulkan bahwa secara umum peternak anggota kelompok Harapan Jaya di desa Haurngombong sangat antusias dalam mengikuti penyuluhan dan limpah keterampilan formulasi ransum pedet dan penerapannya untuk mempercepat pertumbuhan pedet betina kearah bobot badan 325kg.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian tepung Keong Mas yang diproteksi berbagai level tanin terhadap kecernaan serat kasar dan energi tercerna dalam ransum domba lokal jantan. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Perlakuannya yaitu P0 = 60% Rumput Gajah + 40% konsentrat, P1 = 60% Rumput Gajah + 37,5% konsentrat + 2,5% tepung Keong Mas, P2 =  60% Rumput Gajah + 37,5% konsentrat + 2,5% tepung Keong Mas tanin (1,5%), P3 = 60% Rumput Gajah + 37,5% konsentrat + 2,5% tepung Keong Mas terproteksi tanin ( 3%) dan P4 =  60% Rumput Gajah + 37,5% konsentrat + 2,5% tepung Keong Mas tanin (4,5%).  Data yang diperoleh diuji dengan  kontras ortogonal untuk mengetahui respon percobaan terhadap perlakuan yang diberikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penambahan tepung Keong Mas yang diproteksi tanin sampai level 4,5% ke dalam ransum tidak berpanguh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap kecernaan serat kasar dan energi tercerna domba lokal jantan

Abstract

Carrot waste grows in the highlands and has the potential to feed of dairy cows. The aim of this research is to utilize carrot waste in dairy cow ration and its impact on fermentability and digestibility in vitro. The study was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design. Data were analyzed using variance analysis and Duncan's test. Analysis of the relationship between variables using correlation-regression analysis. The treatments (as fed) consist of: T0 = Concentrate + 100% Native Grass (Basal Ration), T1 = Concentrate + 50% Native Grass + 50% Carrot Leaves, T2 = Concentrate + 50% Native Grass + 25% Carrot Leaves + 25% Carrot Meal, T3 = Concentrate + 50% Native Grass + 50% Carrot Meal, each repeated 4 times. The results showed that the use of carrot waste did not affect ammonia production, but affected the production of flying fatty acids, dry matter digestibility and organic matter digestibility. Flying fatty acids, digestibility of dry matter, digestibility of organic matter is higher in rations using carrot waste compared to basic rations. The highest value of volatile fatty acids, dry matter digestibility and organic matter digestibility were obtained in the treatment of 50% carrot tuber replacing field grass (T3), which were 139.53 mM, 56.21% and 58.86%, respectively. Between the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter has a very close relationship with the regression equation y = 0.9135x + 7.3654 and a correlation value of r = 0.8814. The results of this study can be concluded that the use of carrot waste can increase the production of volatilr fatty acids, dry matter digestibility and organic matter with the use of carrot male by 50% (as fed) as a substitute for field grass gives the best results.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui efektivitas manajemen pemberian kolostrum dan pakan starter pedet sapi perah di PT UPBS Pangalengan. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua puluh ekor pedet sapi perah FH yang lahir pada bulan September 2020 untuk dilihat pertumbuhannya selama enam bulan dan dua puluh ekor pedet yang lahir pada bulan Maret 2021 dilihat kandungan imunoglobulinnya sebelum dan setelah mendapatkan kolostrum.  Parameter yang diukur yaitu kadar imunoglobulin G (IgG) total pada pedet sebelum dan setelah pemberian kolostrum, serta pertambahan bobot badan. Pengambilan darah pedet dilakukan sebelum pemberian kolostrum (satu jam setelah lahir) dan pengambilan darah berikutnya adalah ±24 jam setelah pedet lahir. Kadar IgG total yang ada dalam serum darah, diukur dengan menggunakan analisis Immunoturbidimetric Assay, dan pertambahan bobot badan dilakukan selama enam bulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kadar IgG total dalam serum darah berbeda nyata (P<0,05) antara sebelum dan setelah pemberian kolostrum. Rataan kenaikan kadar IgG pedet setelah pemberian kolostrum adalah 12,18 g/L. Rataan pertambahan bobot badan pedet sapi perah berkisar antara 609,72–650 gram/hari. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa manajemen pemberian kolostrum dan pakan starter di PT UPBS Pangalengan sudah efektif.

Abstract

Mangosteen peel extract contains good antibacterial compounds and is thought to be better when microencapsulated is formed. This study aimed to determine the effects of formulation of mangosteen peel ethanol extract associated to maltodextrin on activities of Escherichia coli. It was conducted by disk diffusion method according to Kirby-Bauer test in Mueller Hinton Agar (MHA) using three different concentrations namely: 100, 75, and 50 (%). Each formulation was tested as many as 10 µL disk -1 consisted of each treatment. The employed maltodextrin was obtained by enzymatic processing of arenga starch. Nine formulations were tested by measuring their bacterial inhibition activity in a Mueller Hinton Agar (MHA) medium.  The results showed that the effects of formulation between mangosteen peel ethanol extract and maltodextrin had the significant effect (P<0.05) on the antibacterial activities of Escherichia coli. It had been shown the ability to actively inhibit the bacterial growth at medium levels.
