Abstract

A novel niobium oxychloride cluster compound, RbNb6Cl12O2 was obtained by solid state synthesis from stoichiometric mixture of RbCl, Nb2O5, NbCl5 and Nb powder, heated at 675 °C. Its structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system (a = 6.8097(4) Å, b = 11.6700(9) Å, c = 12.5090(9) Å, ß = 101.337(4) °, V = 974.68(12) Å3, and Z = 2) with the space group of P21/c. The cluster framework of this compound is based on  units connected via oxide ligands in the a-direction with two Nb-O linkages between adjacent clusters, which resembles intercluster bonding in Chevrel-Sergent phases. In the other two directions, the linkages occur through single Cla-a bridges. The framework generates channels where the cations Rb+ are located. This compound contains valence electron concentration (VEC) of 15 per cluster unit and therefore exhibits the paramagnetic behavior.

Abstract

Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) is one of the potential feedstocks for bioethanol production due to their higher cellulose content. It needs the optimization of pretreatment to remove lignin and release cellulose and hemicellulose from lignocellulosic complex. Pretreatment was done using sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, and calcium hypochlorite as soaking agents. Experiment was carried out at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Pretreatment with 1% sulfuric acid decreased lignin by 6.74%, 4.0% sodium hydroxide reduced lignin content by 11.23%, whereas pretreatment with 0.3% calcium hypochlorite removed lignin by 8.30% from original lignin content lignocellulosic substrate. Therefore, sodium hydroxide pretreatment showed highest efficacy in delignification processes, followed by calcium hypochlorite, and sulfuric acid pretreatments. Keywords: Lignin reduction; Lignocellulose; Pretreatment; Water hyacinth

Abstract

The Chinese language has developed rapidly in recent years, especially after the launch of the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Chinese language proficiency test. The HSK Standardization Exam intended for foreign students consists of basic levels namely HSK 1 and HSK 2, intermediate levels namely HSK 3 and HSK 4, and high levels namely HSK 5 and HSk 6. HSK 3 which is classified as an intermediate level is the starting point for learning difficulties for foreign students in where the use of pronunciation aids began to be phased out. This study focuses on analyzing the needs of developing interactive multimedia using the Lectora Inspire application to increase the proficiency of students who have been studying for the HSK 3 exam. The ability and fluency of teachers in the use of multimedia equipment and multimedia-based learning processes is a strong foundation in future product development. The results showed that the use of interactive multimedia can help students understand HSK 3 learning and increase student motivation in learning. Students stated that the existence of interactive multimedia made the learning process more interesting and easier. This underlies the development of interactive multimedia-based HSK learning materials.
