Abstract

The presence of media in the midst of human life certainly had an impact on our behavior patterns, either in the form of understanding, mental attitudes, as well as concrete actions. In every use of the media must be contained messages or accompanying information and consciously accepted by its users, which in turn will affect their behavior. This study aims to identify and obtain an overview about media literacy study conducted in the Junior High School. The method used in this research is qualitative method with case study approach. While the theory used in this research is the theory of the Media Literacy by Potter. The results of this study found that basically media literacy is an alternative that aims to empower the public in the middle of the media siege. This concept has the aim to educate the public to be able to interact and use the media intelligently and critically, so that the public does not easily "fooled" and exploited by the media's interests are not aligned on the needs of the public. Meanwhile, the teenager mentally junior high school students are very vulnerable public to easily affected by media content, while seen from the number of media they use the most widely used.

Abstract

At the end of 2016, Muslim religious leaders are under the spotlight in relation to the success of 411 and 212 action calls that demand a judgment on Basuki Cahaya Purnama. This event shows that in this era of digital media, Muslim religious leaders still have an influence to mobilize the masses. Therefore, scholars need to be considered to participate to successing the development programs and become agents of change in the diffusion of innovation. Rural communities need ulama as opinion leaders or information legitimators, especially in the era of digital media that is developing today. Ulama is important to increase knowledge of rural communities including the field of finance and banking.Our Public Service Programme performed in Desa Cikondang, Kecamatan Cibeber, Kabupaten Cianjur Jawa Barat. In this location there are financial problems in the form of "mobile bank" which is the camouflage of moneylender activity. The program is done in three stages, mapping the digital media access of ulama, mapping the moneylender problem, and mapping the role of ulama in overcoming the problem by utilizing digital media.

Abstract

This study aims to explore marriage between Indonesian women and the western men (laki-laki bule) from western culture and to describe the meaning of role and position of Indonesian women married with western men. Individual perspective on the role and gender position in marriage life is mostly influenced by neighbours, community, and family. The process of interpreting the role and gender position for Indonesian women is a part of community construction. This research deploys phenomenological perspective, particularly symbolic interactionism and the theory of the social construction of reality. Data have been collected by in-depth interviews and observation to seven Indonesian women married to western men in Jakarta selected through snowball sampling. This research found a construction meaning model related to the role and position of Indonesian women doing mix marriage. Through interaction with their husband, the informants define their role and position in marriage life which is inline with equality principle done by their husband including four different equality meaning, such as partial equality, natural equality, absolute equality, and pragmatic equality. The contribution of this study is to provide a model of construction of meaning on the role and position of Indonesian women doing mixed marriage in family and community.

Abstract

The phenomenon of migrant workers has been a social problem that has to be solved by many stakeholders. This is that it greatly impacts economy, family, law, and other aspects of community. This study seeks to reveal how participatory development communication is applied in the empowerment of Indonesian former migrant workers. This study employed qualitative method with case study approach because its aim was to generate holistic, systemic description and reveal the meaning of empirical facts about participatory development communication in empowering the Indonesian former migrant workers (PMI). Data were collected through interviews with five key informants of community leaders and sources of relevant agencies as well as direct observations. The study found: (1) Forum of Indonesian Former Migrant Workers (Forum Purna PMI) seeks to empower the economy of former migrant workers in Desa Celak; (2) Community participation in Desa Celak, particularly among former migrant workers, is considered well-conducted; and (3) Local public figures as opinion leaders hold a significant role in encouraging the community in village development.

Abstract

Ulama is one of the opinion leaders in rural areas. Based on Two Step Flow Communication theory, they should be the information disseminator and legitimator for the community. However, is they still conduct that role in this digital era? Can Ulamas provide true information and play a role in counteracting hoaxes circulating through digital media? This study used descriptive methods with interviews as a data collection tool. The research informants were 17 Ulamas, 30-78 years old in Kecamatan Parigi, Kabupaten Pangandaran. The results shows that the majority of Ulamas over 50 years old do not have a smartphone, only a few of them have smartphones and have WhatsApp features as well as Facebook. They are not active in using it and are not at the forefront of knowing the latest issues circulating on social media. Communities in rural areas still make Ulamas as opinion leaders but not on news that develops on social media. Therefore, Ulama still have an important role in confirming hoax circulating on social media but their source of knowledge is not the internet but still guided by the Qur'an and printed holy books. These Ulamas argue that if the truth and benefits are unclear, they may not disseminate a message obtained from the internet. Ulama realize that information technology has developed greatly, but they argue that they do not need to preach about it. The problem of the community around them is the real problem that the solution is also through real discussion and communication.

Abstract

Pangandaran is an environmentally-based tourism destination that is quite popular in Indonesia, but Pangandaran has a high potential for disaster. Pangandaran is ranked 16th among all districts in Indonesia in terms of disaster potential. Therefore, a program is needed to increase community resilience, community adaptability to disasters, so that people are able to act quickly and precisely when disasters occur and communities are resistant to post-disaster effects. The methods used in this service include lectures, discussions and disaster simulations. With this service activity, it is hoped that the community can: 1) understand and know how to behave when a disaster occurs to reduce disaster risk, around their place of residence; 2) the community knows how and where to look for information on disaster which includes disaster techniques and management; 3) improve the physical and mental preparedness of the community when a disaster occurs; 4) provide an understanding to the community of the importance of preserving the environment in order to avoid disasters.

Abstract

The tradition of ngaplus imah of Pulo people has been conducted until the eighth generation todays. The Pulo people reside in Cangkuang Village of Leles District of Garut Regency, West Java. The Pulo people are able to maintain six houses of the ancestral heritage, no more and no less. The grounded research shows that the Pulo people admit the children right as heirs of the inheritance. The inheritance right for the Pulo is the right to inhabit not to own the heritage. The occupancy right is not a resolution in the form of structure, but an offerdable rights for girls not boys. They consider that if one of the parents dies then the right to occupy is given to the children. The research concludes that the implementation of Ngaplus Imah tradition has ups and downs. It is sometimes desirable, sometimes less desirable, sometimes complicated, sometimes smooth andsurviving through the local wisdom.Keywords: ngaplus imah, inheritance right, occupancy right, local wisdom

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to find the correlatio between information valance and information weight of the election information shared through social media with “beginner voters” attitude toward the elected mayor in Cimahi. The theory used of this research was Information Integration Theory that was proposed by Martin Fishbein. This research used quantitative approach with correlational method. Data collection tehnique was done by distributing questionnaires to 111 selected students of class XII SMAN 2 Cimahi from 154 students of the target population, with simple random sampling technique. The results showed as follows; there was a significance correlation between valance of election information shared through social media with “beginner voters” attitude toward the elected mayor in cimahi. There was a significance correlationbetween weight of election information shared through social media with “beginner voters” attitude toward the elected mayor in cimahi. So it can be concluded that there was a significance correlation between quality of election information shared through social media with beginner voters’ attitude toward the elected mayor in Cimahi.Keywords: Election, Social Media, Information Quality, Attitude, Beginner Voters

Abstract

Tingkat kebutuhan informasi akan meningkat jika informasi memberikan sesuatu yang bermanfaat pada sipencarinya, seperti menyelesaikan masalah atau memecahkan persoalan, memberikan ide-ide baru untuk sebuah program baru, kebutuhan pada pengetahuan, atau melakukan pengawasan pada sesuatu yang sedang berjalan. Kemampuan penyeleggara pemerintahan menyiapkan sediaan informasi dengan berbagai infrastruktur dan konten yang memadai, disertai dengan sikap keterbukaan dan mekanisme serta prosedur yang memadai, akan memudahkan masyarakat memberikan konstribusi atau partisipasi secara positif. Masyarakat tidak akan mudah terpancing isu atau informasi yang simpang siur seandainya mereka mudah mandapatkan iformasi yang memadai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bhawa sebagian besar masyarakat Kota Bandung kurang atau belkum memahmai keterbukaan informasi publik, bahkan sebagian besar warga Kota belum atau kurang mehami bentuk informasi yang digunakan oleh Pemkot sebagai upaya implementasi keterbukaan informasi publik. Sebagian warga Kota tahu bahwa setiap ada pekerjaaan pembangunan sarana publik tersedia pengumuman tentang batas waktu pengerjaaan, biaya, dan sebagainya tapi mereka tidak tahu bhawa hal itu sebagai bagian dari kebijakan keterbukaan informasi publik dari pemegang kenbijakan publik kepada warganya. Masih kurangnya sosialiasasi tentang keterbukaan informasi publik yang dilakukan Pemerintah Kota Bandung merupakan salah satu dampak dari kurangnya pemahaman warga Kota terhadap berbagai upaya yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah Kota dalam implementasi keterbukaan publik.

Abstract

AbstrakMedia sosial menjadi alat penyebaran informasi yang dapat menjangkau masyarakat dimanapun dan kapanpun. Media sosial Instagram saat ini tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai wadah untuk mengunggah dan berbagi foto kepada pengguna lainnya namun kini Instagram mampu menyebarkan informasi sehingga memenuhi kebutuhan informasi penggunanya. Hal tersebut dimanfaatkan oleh Kota Palembang yang mendapatkan Penghargaan Kota Kreatif pada tahun 2019 oleh Kementerian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif Republik Indonesia untuk menyebarkan informasi yang berkaitan dengan kegiatan Ekonomi Kreatif di Kota Palembang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pemanfaatan Instagram sebagai alat diseminasi informasi kegiatan ekonomi kreatif di Kota Palembang dengan metode penelitian yaitu deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media Instagram bermanfaat dnegan baik dan memanfaatkan fitur-fitur yang ada seperti Instagram Story dan Reels dalam menyebarkan informasi tentang kegiatan ekonomi kreatif di Kota Palembang ditunjukkan dengan keterlibatan pelaku ekonomi kreatif pada salah satu kegiatan ekonomi kreatif yaitu Beli Kreatif dan kenaikan omset para pelaku ekonomi kreatif setelah mengikuti kegiatan tersebut yang menjadi bukti adanya perolehan informasi bagi masyarakat Kota Palembang berkaitan dengan kegiatan ekonomi kreatif. AbstractSocial media is a means of disseminating information that can reach people anywhere and anytime. Instagram social media currently not only functions as a place to upload and share photos with other users, but now Instagram is able to disseminate the information so as to meet the information needs of its users. This was utilized by the City of Palembang, which received the Creative City Award in 2019 from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, to disseminate information related to Creative Economy activities in Palembang City. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of Instagram as a means of disseminating information on creative economic activities in the city of Palembang using descriptive research methods with a qualitative approach. The results of the study show that Instagram media is useful and makes use of existing features such as Instagram Stories and Reels in disseminating information about creative economic activities in the city of Palembang as indicated by the involvement of creative economy actors in one of the creative economic activities, namely Creative Buying and increasing the turnover of the creative economy actors after participating in these activities which is evidence of obtaining information for the people of Palembang City related to Creative Economic activities.
