Abstract

This current study aims to adapt the Work Regulatory Focus Scale into the Indonesian version, following the International Test Commission (ITC) Guidelines for Test Adaptation. Thisis cross-sectional study involved 218 participants from a local bank with several branches in Indonesia. Confirmatory Factor Analysis using Lisrel 8.80 was employed to analyze the data. Regulatory focus and work engagement are correlated to determine convergent validity, while CR (Construct Reliability) evaluates reliability. The results of the Confirmatory Factor Analysis indicate that the Work Regulatory Focus Scale model fits the data best (RMSEA = .073, NFI = .94, CFI = .96, Standardized RMR = .065, and AGFI = .93, p = .000). The scale also demonstrates good reliability, with a CR value of .798 for promotion focus and .778 for prevention focus. Furthermore, a relationship between work regulatory focus and work engagement was found. These findings indicate that the Work Regulatory Focus has good psychometric properties and provides supports for applicability in the Indonesian context.

Abstract

Workplace well-being has become an increasingly prominent topic in psychology, both nationally and internationally, particularly in the context of eudaimonic well-being, which emphasizes meaning and self-actualization in the workplace. One contributing factor to high eudaimonic workplace well-being is hardiness—the individual’s capacity to face stress with a sense of commitment, control, and challenge. This study aims to examine the relationship between hardiness and eudaimonic workplace well-being among firefighters and rescue officers in Bukittinggi City. A quantitative correlational method was employed, involving 43 field firefighters selected through total sampling. The instruments used included an Indonesian-adapted eudaimonic workplace well-being scale based on two dimensions: interpersonal and intrapersonal well-being, and a hardiness scale comprising the dimensions of commitment, control, and challenge. Spearman correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between hardiness and eudaimonic workplace well-being (correlation coefficient = 0.417; p < 0.05). The study concludes that higher levels of hardiness are associated with greater eudaimonic well-being at work among firefighters. These findings offer practical implications for human resource management, particularly in fostering psychological resilience to enhance the quality of workplace well-being among fire and rescue personnel.

Abstract

The increasing participation of women in the workforce presents challenges in balancing professional and domestic responsibilities, particularly for working mothers who face dual roles. This study aims to analyze the relationship between flexible working arrangements and work-life balance among working mothers in Payakumbuh City. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, involving 115 respondents selected through accidental sampling. The research instruments included a work-life balance scale adapted from Gunawan et al. (2019), based on Fisher et al. (2009), and a flexible working arrangement scale developed based on Hill et al. (2001). Data were analyzed using the Pearson product-moment correlation test with SPSS version 25. The results show that the majority of respondents fell within the moderate category for both variables, and a positive and significant relationship was found between flexible working arrangements and work-life balance, with a significance value of 0.038 and a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.194. These findings indicate that the implementation of flexible work systems, such as flexplace and flextime, contributes to reducing dual-role conflict and enhancing the psychological well-being and productivity of working mothers. This study offers practical implications for institutions, particularly in the public sector, to develop work policies that support the achievement of optimal work-life balance.

Abstract

Beberapa bukti telah dijelaskan jika kesehatan fisik dan psikologis menjadi rusak karena ketidakpuasan terhadap body image. Remaja perempuan cenderung melaporkan tingkat ketidakpuasan body image yang lebih tinggi daripada laki-laki. Maka dari itu tujuan dari penelitian untuk mengetahui bagaimana tingkat kepuasan body image. Subjek penelitian adalah remaja dari usia 13-21 tahun sebanyak 20 orang terdiri atas kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Teknik sampling digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Desain penelitian adalah pretest-postest control group design menggunakan intervensi pelatihan afirmasi positif. Alat ukur digunakan adalah alat ukur alat ukur Mulitidimensional Body Self Relations Questionnare-Appearance Scale (MBSRQ-AS) dengan item yang dikembangkan berdasarkan aspek body image oleh Cash. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa metode pelatihan afirmasi positif bisa meningkatkan body image bagi remaja. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis desktiptif, uji Mann-Whitney dan uji Wilcoxon. Implikasi penelitian pelatihan afirmasi positif dilakukan saat ini mungkin efektif pada sampel tidak begitu banyak namun hasilnya bisa menjadi solusi awal melalui pelatihan afirmasi positif bagi peningkatan body image.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji hubungan antara Burnout dengan Continuance Commitment pada karyawan bank. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah karyawan Bank X di Sumatera Barat dengan jumlah sampel 52 karyawan. Metode pengambilan sampel adalah menggunakan total sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan skala Burnout dan Continuance Commitment serta analisis data yang digunakan adalah Product Moment. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat kontribusi positif antara burnout dengan continuance commitment dengan kontribusi sebesar 15,3%, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat kontribusi antara burnout dan continuance commitment pada karyawan bank. Yang dimana ini berarti Ho ditolak dan H1 diterima.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji kontribusi work engagement pada eudaimonic workplace well-being pada pegawai. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survey. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah Pegawai Negeri Sipil Kota Bukittinggi dengan jumlah sampel 101 pegawai. Metode pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik cluster sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan skala work engagement dan eudaimonic workplace well-being serta analisis data yang digunakan adalah Analisis Regresi Linier Sederhana dengan menggunakan SPSS veris 29. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis didapatkan nilai p sebesar 0,001 (p < 0,05). Hal ini memperlihatkan bahwa terdapat kontribusi work engagement pada eudaimonic workplace well-being pada Pegawai Negeri Sipil.   Kata Kunci: eudaimonic workplace well-being, pegawai, work engagement

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kontribusi coworker social support terhadap eudaimonic well-being pada driver layanan transportasi online di kota Bukittinggi. Fokus utama adalah mengkaji fenomena kohesi sosial yang tinggi di antara para driver, yang berpotensi meningkatkan kesejahteraan psikologis mereka dan menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang lebih kondusif. Metodologi yang diterapkan mengadopsi pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Sampel terdiri dari 107 driver yang diseleksi menggunakan kombinasi teknik sampling insidental dan purposif. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa kuesioner yang disebarkan melalui dua jalur: interaksi langsung dan platform digital. Temuan studi mengindikasikan adanya korelasi signifikan antara coworker social support dan eudaimonic well-being para driver, dengan tingkat signifikansi statistik p < 0,05. Hasil analisis regresi linear sederhana menunjukkan bahwa coworker social support memiliki efek positif terhadap eudaimonic well-being, dengan sumbangan efektif sebesar 30,1%. Interpretasi dari hasil ini menggambarkan bahwa semakin intens dukungan sosial yang diterima dari rekan kerja, semakin tinggi pula tingkat eudaimonic well-being yang dialami oleh para driver. Sebagai kesimpulan, studi ini membuktikan adanya hubungan kausal yang signifikan antara coworker social support dan eudaimonic well-being dalam konteks pekerjaan driver transportasi online di Bukittinggi.

Abstract

Assertive is a form of learning that forms the identity of an individual. Assertive ability can also bring up communication skills that can assist individuals in carrying out their social demands. Assertive behavior is important for children to have to prevent sexual violence, bullying and communication difficulties in children. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of pop up books in increasing assertiveness in children. The method used in this study is an experimental research method which uses a pre-test post-test control group design. Data collection was carried out through observation with the checklist recording technique. Data analysis used is descriptive analysis. The subjects in this study were class II children of SD Negeri Padang Lua for the 2022/2023 academic year, aged 8-9 years. Based on the results of the pre-post test analysis, there was a significant difference in the form of an increase in assertive behavior in the experimental group. This proves that the use of pop up books is effective in increasing assertiveness in children. It is hoped that future researchers will implement this research in a more conducive environment and with a longer intervention time.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze gadgets and identify strategies and obstacles parents face in using gadgets as a source of character education for children aged 10-12 years in the Kerasaan I area. This research is qualitative research with a case study approach. They are implemented in the Kerasaan I village, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra. Observation, interviews, and documentation carried out data collection techniques, while data analysis was done by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and then verified. The results of this study are gadgets for children aged ten years and 12 years used for the need to find and add information in completing assignments given by the teacher. This can create a sense of responsibility for children. Meanwhile, children aged 11 years tend to use gadgets to play online games. If they continue, it can cause addiction in children. So the parent's strategy in guiding children to use gadgets is to limit time, give directions, give advice, and provide supervision. As for the obstacles, parents feel when they want to guide their children to use gadgets, children prefer to be silent, and children show uncontrolled emotions when parents want to know what children access through their gadgets. In conclusion, gadgets are used by children in the Kerasaan I area as a learning resource which in turn becomes a form of responsibility towards children

Abstract

This study aims to determine the contribution of work-family balance to work engagement in employees in long-distance marriages (LDM). The phenomenon of LDM is becoming increasingly common in the modern workplace, especially for couples who must live apart due to work demands in different locations. This condition can pose challenges in maintaining a balance between work and family life demands, which in turn can affect individual engagement in their work. Therefore, this study is important to understand the extent to which work-family balance plays a role in increasing the morale and work engagement of employees in LDM. This study involved 41 employees in LDM, with ages ranging from 24 to 50 years. The data collection method used two measuring instruments: the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) developed by Schaufeli and Bakker (2004), and the work-family balance scale developed by Carlson et al. (2009). Data analysis was conducted using simple regression analysis techniques to determine the contribution of the independent variables to the dependent variable. The results showed that work-family balance contributed 65% to work engagement in employees in LDM. These findings indicate that the higher the level of work-family balance, the higher the employee's engagement in their work. Therefore, it is important for organizations to create policies and work environments that support work-family balance, especially for employees in long-distance marriages.
