Abstract

Panggong Village is located on the coast of the city of Meulaboh where many residents earn a living as fishermen who often bring instant food supplies when they go out to sea and throw plastic containers and cans into the sea as rubbish where they find fish. The purpose of this activity is to provide counseling to increase the knowledge and awareness of the fishermen so that they throw garbage in its place. Community service activities begin with the preparation, outreach, outreach and discussion about waste management. The result of this community service activity was an increase in understanding from the level of 71.05 percent before the training was held to 96.71 percent after the implementation of the program and the awareness of the fishing community regarding waste disposal.

Abstract

Indonesia is a maritime country and produces a lot of fish, but according to BPS data, the average protein consumption, including Indonesian fish consumption, is 64.64 grams per capita a day, while Aceh is only 58.99 grams per capita a day. This service activity aims to educate students at Islamic boarding schools about the importance of fish consumption, invite students to eat processed fish so that it is hoped that they will be able to increase knowledge and change fish consumption behavior. The participants of this activity were 40 students of the Babul Fikri Islamic Boarding School. The method used is the Role Play method and also uses PPT tools about the importance of fish consumption. Educational results obtained an increase in students' knowledge related to fish consumption as seen from the average value of the level of knowledge, namely (2,625-4.725 = 2.1 points), so we can conclude that the love of eating fish education carried out can increase students' knowledge and will be able to change adolescent behavior behavior that is able to overcome the problem of fish consumption. In addition, it was also seen that there was an increase in fish consumption which was better than before education, from 42.5% to 63.5%.

Abstract

Mitigation of climate change is a business activity to reduce the risk of increasing greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere, gases can occur naturally in the environment and can also arise due to human activities. Mangroves are carbon-rich ecosystems and have an important role in climate regulation, namely by their ability to store large amounts of carbon as an effort to offset anthropogenic CO2 emissions. Mangrove ecosystems are able to store high carbon which is useful in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, mangrove ecosystems are also able to store carbon three to four times greater than ordinary tropical forests. The activity was carried out in Lhok Bubon Village, Samatiga District, West Aceh District. This activity was attended by the academic community of FPIK UTU with 50 participants. The method of implementing community service activities used was counseling and demonstration methods with students through planting 100 mangrove stems, namely Rhizopora sp. Protecting the mangrove ecosystem is our common awareness, especially students as the next generation of the nation, one of which is by not cutting down mangrove trees to be used as firewood or charcoal, opening up ponds and destroying the original habitat of mangrove ecosystems that can disrupt coastal aquatic biota. Students are given education (counseling) about the importance of conserving mangrove ecosystems from the threat of climate change mitigation. Students are very enthusiastic and active, it can be seen from the seriousness in participating in mangrove planting activities through discussions, questions and answers, and hands-on practice. Sustainability of a program like this is needed and efforts are made to become a routine program of gampong activities, NGO activities and also academic activities, because with sustainability it will be faster to see the results that have been expected together.

Abstract

Perairan pulau Simeulue dianugrahi oleh sumberdaya alam yang berlimpah, seperti ikan karang, lobster, teripang dan organisme akuatik lainnya. Organisme akuatik selalu jadi target pemburuan nelayan karena memiliki harga jual yang tinggi terutama teripang. Eksplorasi yang berlebihan membuat populasi teripang di alam menurun dan terancam kelestarianya. Produksi budidaya teripang masih rendah karena benih diperoleh dari alam dan kegiatanya dilakukan secara tradisional. Pengetahuan nelayan juga rendah dalam hal pembiakan teripang. Disisi lain pembiakan teripang secara seksual membutuh fasilitas dan biaya operasional yang tinggi. Solusi yang diberikan adalah pembiakan teripang secara aseksual dengan teknologi fission. Teknologi ini sangat sederhana tanpa perlu fasilitas canggih, mudah di pahami oleh masyarakat dan biaya operasional murah. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan edukasi terhadap masyarakat simeulue. Transfer Iptek ini dilakukan kepada nelayan/masyarakat dengan metode sosialisasi pelestarian teripang dan teknik fission. Masyarakat antusias dalam mengikuti sosialisasi dan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan/wawasan baru tentang Teknik fission dan kesadara dalam menjaga kelestarian teripang di alam.

Abstract

Disease infection in fish farming causes a decrease in production yields and crop failure. On the other hand, the decline in production and crop failure is also due to the lack of knowledge and skills of farmers in prevention and treatment. Treatment using chemical drugs continuously causes resistant fungi / bacteria so that it is difficult to eradicate. The solution offered to solve partner problems is to provide information on fish health management and the use of natural medicine. Implementation stages include: program preparation, program implementation, monitoring and evaluation, workshops and reporting. The results of this service show that fish farmers get increased knowledge about fish health management and the use of herbal medicine.

Abstract

Beutong District is one of the sub-districts in Nagan Raya Regency with an area of 1,017.32 Km2. The topography of Beutong District supports the cultivation of freshwater fisheries. The purpose of this service activity is to educate and apply the provision of probiotic technology made from local ingredients to increase production performance and the health status of economically important freshwater aquaculture fish. The method used in this activity is an educational method and application of probiotic technology made from local raw materials for economically important freshwater fish. The program begins with educating about the concept of using probiotic technology made from local ingredients, how to make probiotics made from local ingredients, methods of giving probiotics made from local ingredients and ending with training on good fish farming. Monitoring and evaluation will also be carried out to see the level of independence of fish farmers in applying the science and technology that has been taught and the sustainability of the program as well as the obstacles during this program. The result of this service activity is that probiotic technology made from local ingredients is effectively applied to economically important freshwater fish farming.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui laju pertumbuhan ikan bileh yang diberikan jenis pakan berbeda dan menentukan jenis pakan yang terbaik untuk pertumbuhan ikan bileh (Rasbora sp). Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimen menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) satu faktor perlakuan. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu pakan berbeda, terdiri atas 4 perlakuan(P) dengan 3 kali ulangan (U), yaitu: P1= pakan buatan (pelet), P2=artemia, P3=lumut, dan P4= lemna minor. Tahapan penelitian yaitu: persiapan wadah, koleksi ikan bileh, pakan percobaan, pemeliharaan, pengamatan dan pengambilan data. Data yang diambil meliputi laju pertumbuhan spesifik (LPS), laju pertumbuhan Panjang harian (LPPH) dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup ikan (SR). Data diolah dan dianalisi dengan uji statistik F (Anova). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pakan berbeda memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap LPS, LPPH dan SR (P<0,05). Perlakuan terbaik terdapat pada P1 (pemberian pakan buatan) dengan nilai LPS 0,93%/hari, LPPH 0,76%/hari dan SR 72,1%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan air kelapa muda dan madu terhadap kualitas sperma ikan mas (Cyprinus carpio) selama masa penyimpanan dan menentukan kombinasi yang terbaik. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu air kelapa muda dan madu, terdiri atas 3 perlakuan (P) dengan 3 kali ulangan (U) dan satu kontrol (K0), yaitu: K0= tanpa air kelapa muda dan madu, P1= air kelapa muda (75%) + madu (25%), P2= air kelapa muda (50%) + madu (50%), dan P3= air kelapa muda (25%) + madu (75%). Tahapan penelitian: koleksi sperma ikan, pencampuran perlakuan dengan sperma, penyimpanan dan pengamatan. Data yang diambil adalah motilitas dan viabilitas, yang kemudian data tersebut di analisis secara statistik (anova). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa air kelapa muda dan madu memberikan pengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap motilitas dan viabilitas sperma ikan mas. Penggunaan air kelapa muda 50% + madu 50% (P2) merupakan kombinasi terbaik dengan nilai motilitas hari kedua 6,36% dan viabilitas hari kedua 16,63%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak batang serai (Cymbopogon citratus) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri edwarsiella tarda secara in vitro. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan September sampai Desember 2016, bertempat di Laboratorium Hayati dan Laboratorium Mikrobiologi MIPA Unsyiah. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimen dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL), dengan 3 perlakuan yaitu: K=kontrol, P1=400 ppm, P2=600 ppm, dan P3=800 ppm. Hasil uji fitokimia menunjukkan bahwa kandungan zat aktif yang terdapat dalam batang serai ialah steroid, terpenoid, saponin, flavonoid, tanin dan fenolik. Ekstrak batang serai mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri edwarsiella tarda berdasarkan hasil uji daya hambat. Diameter rata-rata zona hambat yang diperoleh adalah P1= 21 mm, P2= 18 mm, P3= 14 mm, dan K= 0 mm. Kata kunci: Cymbopogon citratus, Edwarsiella tarda, in vitro, Pertumbuhan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan substrat Lemna minor dan lumpur terhadap biomassa dan populasi cacing sutra. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimen dangan rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri atas lima taraf perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah P1 = media pertumbuhan dengan 500 gram (Lemna minor), P2 = media pertumbuhan dengan 375 gram (Lemna minor), P3 = media pertumbuhan dengan 250 gram (Lemna minor), P4 = media pertumbuhan dengan 125 gram (Lemna minor), P5 = media pertumbuhan dengan 0 gram (Lemna minor). Parameter yang diamati meliputi jumlah biomassa, populasi dan parameter kualitas air yaitu suhu, pH, dan DO. Data dianalisis secara statistik (ANOVA) dan di uji lanjut dengan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT). Hasil dari penelitian selama 50 hari menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan formulasi berpegaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap biomassa dan populasi. Perlakuan terbaik terdapat pada P1 menghasilkan SGR 1.24 % dan RGR 1.72 %.
