Abstract

This study is conducted on the waters of South Lampung Regency. It requires data and information on the potential natural resources, human resources, institutions, and facilities and infrastructure. The data and information on catchment fishery will become a priority for analysis. An analysis is also made to determine a standard for fish catching units covering biological, environmental, sustainable, and financial feasibility aspects. The next step is to conduct an integrated analysis of all aspects in relation to the development of seven fish catching units selected, to make priorities of development, and to determine the sensitivity of the development against any possible changes. It is expected that the analysis of fish resources and selection of fish catching units can solve the problems of catchment fishery in the region, and help fishermen to increase productivity. The increased fish production will give a significant contribution to the development of fish businesses and fishermen’s income. With an increased income, it is certainly expected that the fishermen’s welfare will also improve.

Abstract

Fisherie resources utilization in Residency of South Lampung as so far has faced on larger potency of fisheries capture while the management is not optimally done yet. This situation has indicated the low productivity of fishing units including the existing fleets as well as unsupported fishing gears facilities in traditional basis. In other hand, in general, the human resources are rare with low management capability. As consequence, technology transfer (adoption) to the lowest level fishermen is constrained. Fishermen slowly use existing technology and be more diversified in business activities. In addition, fishermen's access on capital loan is limited. This research conducted in marine region of South Lampung Residency. The required information is including potency of natural resources, human resources, institution, and available facilities. Data and information on fisheries will be prioritizing to analyze. The data analyses are including standardization of fishing unit, biological aspect analysis, environmental aspect, sustainability and financial feasibility. As we know, fishing units are technical unity in catchments efforts that usually consisted of the Fishermen, vessel and fishing gears. According to the analysis result on fisheries resources and selection on existing fishing units, the expected output should resolved specified for fisheries problems in the regency. In other hand, fishermen expected be to increase the production. Increasing on fisheries product will have significant impact on fisheries activities and fishermen's income. Abstract

The background of choosing this topics is to realize that unfavorable condition is occur in the national sea transports in which is a very weak competitiveness in having a cargoes share. Archipelagic state of Indonesia comprises 17,506 islands, has 5.8 million kilometers square of waters, and a large amount of market cargoes, however national armada just only can contribute a small number of national incomes, that marked by reaching only five percent share of the total export-import cargoes and only fifty percent share of the total domestics cargoes, in which the rest of them are occupied by foreign armada. Those are caused of the maritime sector income loss that in amount of U5D 18,4 millions yearly that consist of USD 12,4 millions in cargoes share and USD 6 millions in transhipment oportunities. The purpose of this study is to obtain the capability of Indonesian sea transport within globalization era by formulating a design the empowerment strategy to support decision making policy in sea transportation solving problem. The dilta are collected from interviewing and filling the polling by eighteen competence officers of the maritime stakeholders that come from three maritime institutions such as the regulator, the actors, and the users. SWOT analysis, computerized influence / dependence (I/D) matrix, and importance and performance analysis (IPA) methods are used for analyzed data. The results of this study is showed that the influence on and the dependency of the five key factors in technoware, the six key factors in humanware, the four key factors in infoware, and the five key factors in orgaware are founded to high, and should be developed. Abstract

Indonesia, an archipelago of 17,508 islands has an abundant of marine resources and also strategic position in international sea-traffic. MCS should be applied to protect Indonesia from illegal activities at the sea. The purpose of this research is to design a national monitoring control and surveillance system in developing Indonesian maritime. Benchmarking analysis was chosen as the preferred analysing method to compare the Indonesian MCS activities with 24 other countries. In order to determine the key factors of Indonesian MCS system, an expert survey was performed. The analysis result shows that the Indonesian MCS activities still operates in a low level compared to the MCS activities of many countries, such as Canada, Australia, and America. Thus, in order to reach a more preferred level, lndonesia has to improve their MCS operation base and furthermore also improve their MCS performance. In order to improve the Indonesian MCS system, factors such as legislation and permission should be more heavily considered, while the performance level of other factors relating to MCS should also be increased. Further research conducted through the SWOT and statistical analysis is still needed in order to determine the system development model of Indonesian MCS.Key words: MCS, benchmarking analysis, design system, prospective analysis.

Abstract

Given the crucial role of knowledge creation in contemporary business enterprises, a fundamental question arises: what processes are facilitating knowledge creation?  This study aims to find the answer. This study investigates the interrelations among four categories of knowledge assets (experiential, conceptual, systemic, and routine) and four categories of SECI model for knowledge creation processes (socialization, externalization, combination , and internalization). In our framework, we argue that different types of knowledge assets may have differing influences on knowledge creation. In order to test the feasibility of this framework, we conducted an empirical research exercise.  Data were collected from three dairy cooperations in Java, Indonesia through a survey instrument. A total of 105 usable responses were analysed. We employed regression analysis, ANOVA and canonical correlation analysis to examine the separate correlations. We identified four responses interrelationhips from this study. Compared to other knowledge assets, conceptual knowledge assets have a greater effect on socialization of knowledge creation process. Experiential knowledge assets have  a greater effect on combination. Routine knowledge assets have a greater effect on externalization of knowledge creation process. Systemic knowledge assets have a greater effect on internalization of knowledge creation process.

Abstract

Illegal logging and illegal timber trade have been ones of major causes of deforestation in many countries, including Indonesia. Indonesian Timber Legality Assurance System (Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu/SVLK) is an instrument to improve governance of timber sector. The system ensures the legality of timber harvested, transported, processed, and marketed by Indonesian forestry enterprises. Implementation of SVLK is mandatory. Since implemented, SVLK has increased export of forest products. However, the export is dominated by large scale enterprises. On other hand, many of small and medium scale industries are yet registered. According to background and issues, the study aims to analyze distribution network, small business profit, cost of SVLK implementation, and the application of svlk feasibility financial simulation on small scale industries furniture. Primary data collection was carried out with purposive sampling method through deep interview and questionnaires. The result showed there were 3 alternative distribution channels of community wood marketing in Yogyakarta. Each distribution channel has different characteristics. Cost percentage of SVLK implementation is 4.00%. The actual challenge is in the equally distributed information and incompatibility between the requirements of SVLK and the life of small scale industries. SVLK requires Rp 7.787.500,- in early periode and Rp 6.230.000,- to be paid every 2 years. The total cost is Rp 32.707.500,- for 10 years. There are only 7% of small scale industries knowing about SVLK. Small scale industries which don’t know clearly is 50 %, while other small scale industries claim to be uninformed. Based on the study, NPV Rp 10.011.212,-, BCR 1,13 dan investment return rate 18%. Feasibility financial simulation showed SVLK implementation is possible, although has little positive sales development. Small scale furniture industries with 144 m3 raw material per year usage have to target 12% sales development in first year. In second year of implementation, small scale furniture industries cashflow has negative point. It caused by surveillance cost. Small scale furniture industries interest to SVLK implementation was in minimum point. Small scale furniture industries interest to SVLK implementation can be increased by certification financing programs and the export market assurance.
