Abstract

Penelitian ini terfokus pada analisis Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) calon guru kimia menggunakan CoRe (Content Representation) Framework dan strategi metakognitif pada mata kuliah Telaah Kurikulum Kimia. PCK merupakan representasi gabungan antara isi materi pelajaran dan pedagogik yang dimilik oleh guru sehingga siswa tertarik dan mudah untuk memahami suatu materi (Shulman, 1987). Oleh karena itu, CoRe framework dan strategi metakognitif pada penelitian ini digunakan untuk mengembangkan penguasaan konsep kimia dan cara menyampaikan konsep tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan studi interpretif kualitatif hingga menghasilkan profil PCK calon-calon guru kimia terkait dengan penguasaan konsep-konsep kimia. Data diperoleh dari rubrik PCK, MAIT (Metacogitive Awareness Inventory for Teachers), wawancara, observasi, nilai tes konsep, dan kertas refleksi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tingkat PCK calon-calon guru kimia tergolong tinggi. Terlihat bahwa Content Knowledge (CK) yang mereka miliki sedikit lebih tinggi daripada Pedagogical Knowledge (PK). Hasil MAIT (Metacogitive Awareness Inventory for Teachers) juga menunjukkan bahwa calon-calon guru tersebut memiliki kesadaran metakognitif yang sangat tinggi sehingga mereka mengetahui kelemahan dan kekuatannya sendiri dalam mengajar. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis Laboratory Jargon dan miskonsepsi dalam materi asam-basa pada siswa SMA kelas XI. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA di lima SMA pada kecamatan Pulogadung, Jakarta Timur sebanyak 320 siswa.. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survei kuantitatif. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui observasi saat pembelajaran, jawaban siswa pada Kuesioner Laboratory Jargon, dan wawancara siswa. Miskonsepsi yang dibahas pada penelitian ini terkait dengan beberapa konsep pada materi asam-basa, yaitu konsep atom dan molekul; definisi asam basa; disosiasi air; asam-basa lemah; konsentrasi air; pembentukan ion asam-basa; reaksi netralisasi; kekuatan asam (pH); indikator asam basa; serta sifat amfoter air. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa dari sepuluh konsep tersebut masih banyak siswa yang memilih jawaban Laboratory Jargon yang merupakan pernyataan miskonsepsi. Persentase miskonsepsi siswa rata-rata dari sepuluh konsep tersebut adalah 64,44%. Persentase miskonsepsi siswa yang paling besar adalah pada konsep sifat amfoter air yaitu 85,31% kemudian konsep kekuatan asam (pH) yaitu 75,62%. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara sebagian besar siswa memilih jawaban miskonsepsi disebabkan karena siswa terbiasa mempelajari suatu konsep kimia dengan Laboratory Jargon baik dari guru atau sumber belajar. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis model mental siswa di salah satu SMA di Pandeglang pada materi larutan elektrolit dan nonelektrolit. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas X. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah etnografi yang merupakan salah satu tipe penelitian studi kasus yang terfokus memahami latar belakang partisipan. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi kelas, wawancara, reflektif jurnal siswa, free words association, dan free drawing techniques. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengkonstruksi model mental berdasarkan pemahaman dan pengalaman siswa yang dibantu dengan analogi yang dibuatnya dan dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik dan lingkungan sekitar siswa. Analogi ion bergerak bebas pada materi larutan elektrolit dan nonelektrolit yang dikonstruk siswa adalah ikan, lebah, kambing, sedangkan analogi ikatan ion yang dibuat siswa adalah sedekah, zakat, dan wakaf. Model mental siswa pada materi larutan elektrolit terbagi dalam model mental yang sesuai dengan konsep dan model mental yang tidak sesuai dengan konsep. Ketidaksesuaian model mental siswa dipengaruhi oleh pemahaman dan pengalaman siswa. Kata Kunci: model mental, kualitatif, larutan elektrolit dan nonelektrolit

Abstract

This research aims to develop students’ soft skills through integration STEAM approach in acid base learning. The research was conducted in year XI in the even semester of the academic year 2016/2017. This research employed qualitative research with data collection of interview, observation, and reflective journal. Learning activities were carried out by applying six stages of project-based learning, consisting of provide essential questions, design a plan for the project, create a project schedule, monitor students and project progress, assess or result the outcome, and evaluate the experience. Based on the results of the research can be concluded that integration of STEAM approach in project-based learning has developed students’ soft skills of cooperation, critical thinking, environmental awareness, responsibility, adaptability skills, and creative thinking. Abstract

This study aimed is to develop students’ soft skills through the implementation of the Culturally Responsive Transformative Teaching (CRTT) in chemistry learning. Indonesia's ethnic and cultural diversity is a challenge for teachers to design the chemistry lessons which is relevant with students’ characteristics. The research methodology applied is qualitative and applied on chemistry learning in the topics of acid and base, electrolyte and non electrolyte solution in five stages: self identification, cultural understanding, collaboration, critical reflections, and transformative construction. This research was conducted in two schools in DKI Jakarta and West Java in 2018. The data was collected by interview, reflective journal, and observations. The results showed that the chemistry learning through CRTT model can develop students' soft skills such as collaboration skills, critical thinking skills, nationality, social and cultural awareness, leadership, environmental caring, and curiosity. The teachers’ interview and reflections showed that the challenges in applying this approach were creativity in integrating cultural concepts in chemistry learning, students' understanding, time constraints, and the paradigm of students and teachers. Integration of ethnochemistry in CRTT can be developed in other chemical concepts with the principle of students’ character development

Abstract

ABSTRAK Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat sebagai penerapan IPTEKS telah dilakukan di Jurusan Kimia FMIPA UNJ yang dihadiri oleh mahasiswa Jurusan Kimia sebagai tenaga potensial, dengan jumlah total peserta sebanyak 40 orang. Perumusan masalah utama pada kegiatan ini adalah: Bagaimana upaya konkrit untuk melatih keterampilan mahasiswa mendesain berbagai case gadget Chemistry Style dengan berbagai design unik dan kreatif yang terbuat dari resin sebagai upaya mengaplikasikan pengetahuan Kimia? Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah: (1) Menambah dan mengembangkan wawasan pengetahuan Kimia para mahasiswa Jurusan Kimia tentang aplikasi resin; (2) Meningkatkan keterampilan kreatif mahasiswa dalam mendesain berbagai case gadget Chemistry Style dengan berbagai design unik dan kreatif yang terbuat dari resin. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini diharapkan dapat memberikan manfaat: (1) Untuk menambah dan mengembangkan pengetahuan mahasiswa Jurusan Kimia FMIPA UNJ tentang resin dan aplikasinya dengan berbagai design unik dan kreatif untuk case gadget Chemistry Style; (2) Semua mahasiswa dapat mengembangkan kegiatannya menjadi lebih terprogram dan bernilai ekonomis; (3) Keterampilan yang diperoleh setelah mengikuti program ini diharapkan dapat dimanfaatkan untuk menciptakan lapangan kerja baru dan pada akhirnya dapat menambah penghasilan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dapat terlaksana dengan baik, karena: (1) Mahasiswa mengikuti setiap tahapan kegiatan yang diselenggarakan dari awal sampai akhir dengan sungguh-sungguh; (2) Mahasiswa aktif bertanya pada setiap tahap yang tidak dimengerti; (3) Mahasiswa berkeinginan untuk mengembangkan keterampilan yang diperoleh pada skala komersial yang bertujuan meningkatkan penghasilan; (5) Ketua Jurusan dan BEMJ Jurusan Kimia yang telah memberikan dukungan sehingga terwujudnya kegiatan dengan memberikan kemudahan dalam perizinan, himbauan pada mahasiswa dan penyebaran undangan. ABSTRACT Community service activity as the implementation of science and technology has been done in Chemistry Department FMIPA UNJ which was attended by Chemistry Department students as potential energy, with total number of participants as many as 40 people. The main problem formulation in this activity is: How is the concrete effort to train students skill to design various Chemistry Style gadget cases with various unique and creative designs made from resin as an effort to apply Chemical knowledge?The aims of this activity are: (1) Adding and developing Chemical Chemistry students knowledge about resin application knowledge; (2) Improving students' creative skills in designing various Chemistry Style gadget cases with unique and creative designs made of resin. This program of community service is expected to provide benefits: (1) To increase and develop the knowledge of Chemistry FMIPA UNJ's students about resin and its application with various unique and creative designs for Chemistry Style gadget case; (2) All students can develop their activities become more programmed and economic value; (3) Skills acquired after participating in this program are expected to be utilized to create new jobs and ultimately to increase income.Community service activities can be done well, because: (1) Students follow every stage of the activity held from start to finish seriously; (2) Students actively ask at any stage that is not understood; (3) Students wish to develop skills acquired on a commercial scale aimed at increasing income; (5) Head of Department and BEMJ Department of Chemistry who has provided support so that the realization of activities by providing ease in permitting, appeal to students and the dissemination of invitations.

Abstract

In the flipped classroom, students must have independent learning behavior to achieve optimal competence. However, the reality is that students' independence in learning is not good, so a teacher is supposed to carry out knowledge that can facilitate the formation of student learning independence. One of the lessons that can increase students' learning independence is the Flipped Classroom model with the help of interactive e-books. This study aims to conduct a literature review on the importance of improving student learning independence through the Flipped Classroom model based on Interactive e-books. The SLR (Systematic Literature Review) method was chosen in this study. Data collection was carried out by documenting and reviewing all articles on learning independence that had similar research in this report. A total of 15 journal articles obtained from Google Scholar with the help of the publish and perish application were used in this study. Based on the literature review, it can be concluded that increasing the ability to learn independently is needed by students in learning, especially in online education with the interactive e-book-based flipped classroom model. Independent learning has a positive influence on students in education.

Abstract

The question of how to improve the learning of students who score low in mathematics poses a significant challenge for researchers and teachers. Researchers investigated whether the use of video could help low-achieving students. To achieve this goal, this research uses a qualitative approach. Data was collected through interviews, pre-test, and post-test. This study involved 15 students from 3 different classes and two mathematics teachers. The researcher interviewed students and teachers about their first impressions using videos and gave a pre-test and post-test to check the answers' sentences. This study indicates that video makes it easier for students to remember the material, and students can influence what affects their understanding of mathematical concepts. The use of video proved to be an effective strategy in increasing the knowledge of mathematical concepts of low achieving students.

Abstract

This article has aimed to investigate the scientific literacy achievement of fourth-grade elementary school students. The research used a qualitative method with data collection techniques in interviews and open questions. This study involved a fourth-grade teacher and fourth-graduate students. Based on the existing theoretical framework, an assessment tool was developed, which measurement's ability to: a) recognize scientific concepts (nominal literacy);  b) define some key concepts (functional literacy);  c) use their understanding of scientific concepts to explain phenomena (conceptual literacy);  and d) use their knowledge Science to read a short article (multidimensional literacy). The study results found that the nominal literacy assessment showed the students' knowledge of Science was still limited. Functional literacy assessment can be seen students' interest in Science which is still minimal. Conceptual literacy assessment results in students' understanding of everyday scientific phenomena are still lacking, with multidimensional literacy can be assessed students' understanding of paragraph reading is still limited.

Abstract

This study is aimed to develop students' 21st century skills by integrating STEAM projects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) in learning chemistry on acid and base solutions. Interdisciplinary learning was designed to allow students to be actively involved in learning through project development activities to see the relevance of learning content and its application in real life. This study involved 35 students of natural science 11th grade, consisting of 14 boys and 21 girls, in one of public senior high schools in DKI Jakarta Province. Researchers used qualitative methods to understand students' experiences and the implications of learning on their 21st century skills. The researcher collected data through semi-structured interviews, observation, journal reflective, and 21st century skills questionnaires. The results showed that each stage of STEAM learning integrated with project-based learning encouraged students to develop 21st century skills, namely learning and innovation skills, skills using information, media, technology, and life and career skills. Students reflected their abilities in using information and technology, the ability to work together, communication, and thinking at higher levels, as well as adaptability and leadership. In addition, Students were also faced with challenges in changing the paradigm of teachers and students and managing the learning process.
