Abstract

This empirical investigation delves into the application of blended learning within project-based instruction (project-based blended learning), within the framework of physics education for eleventh-grade students in a high school setting. The primary aim is to unravel the repercussions of this teaching model on the students' proficiency in scientific argumentation, particularly in the domain of optical instruments. Employing the non-equivalent control group design, the study enlists two classes: the experimental and the control group at a senior high school in Bandar Lampung, Indonesia, encompassing a total of 60 students during the academic year 2022/2023. Quantitative evaluation of scientific argumentation skills was conducted through tests, while qualitative insights into student reactions were garnered via an open-ended questionnaire. The findings underscore a noteworthy enhancement in the scientific argumentation abilities of the experimental group (n-gain: 0.69) as opposed to the control group (n-gain: 0.40), with the test of mean differences yielding a significance level (2-tailed) of 0.00. Qualitative scrutiny of the data also brought to light a more pronounced positive reception from students in the experimental cohort, lending support to the potential refinement of the project-based blended learning model for the augmentation of students' scientific argumentation aptitude.

Abstract

Spatholobus is a genus that belongs to the Fabaceae that is known to contain various bioactive compounds and distributed across Asia, including Indonesia. However, exploration of Spatholobus in Indonesia is still rare. Therefore, DNA barcoding is used to support the exploration and conservation of Spatholobus in Indonesia. However, there is no universal marker that can be used across all plant species. In addition, there are still few studies related to DNA barcoding within the genus Spatholobus. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the rbcL, matK, and intergenic spacer psbA-trnH regions in silico that can be used as DNA barcodes for the genus Spatholobus. This study began with a sequence search on the NCBI database including the rbcL, matK, and intergenic spacer psbA-trnH genes   in the genus Spatholobus and Phaseolus coccineus as the outgroup. Each sequence was then aligned with ClustalW. Then, a phylogenetic tree was constructed using the Maximum-Likelihood (ML) with 1000× bootstrap. As a result, the rbcL, matK, and psbA-trnH regions can be used as markers for DNA barcoding in the genus Spatholobus with different specifications. The rbcL and matK can be used to distinguish Spatholobus at the genus level, while the psbA-trnH can be used to distinguish Spatholobus at the species level.

Abstract

AbstrakHasil analisis kebutuhan bahwa hanya 13,33% guru yang menunjukkan motivasi tinggi dalam menulis terutama artikel ilmiah. Namun demikian, 88,89% guru menyatakan membutuhkan kegiatan dalam meningkatkan keterampilannya dalam menghasilkan karya tulis ilmiah.. Untuk menjawab kebutuhan tersebut, perlu diselenggarakan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa kegiatan bimbingan teknis yang bertujuan untuk memberikan kemampuan dan keterampilan bagi guru pendidikan dasar dan pendidikan menengah se-Provinsi Lampung dalam penulisan karya tulis ilmiah beserta publikaisnya. Rangkaian kegiatan pengabdian adalah: (1) pretest untuk mengetahui pengetahuan guru tentang karya tulis ilmiah, penelitian Tindakan kelas, artikel ilmiah, dan publikasi karya tulis ilmiah; (2) pelatihan dan workshop tentang karya tulis ilmiah; (3) bimbingan teknis penulisan artikel ilmiah dari karya tulis ilmiah; (4) bimbingan teknis publikasi artikel ilmiah; dan (5) posttest untuk mengetahui perkembangan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru. Kegiatan telah dilaksanakan dengan pelatihan, workshop dan bimbingan teknis oleh ahli. Luaran yang ditargetkan berupa peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam penulisan karya tulis ilmiah, draf artikel ilmiah yang dibuat oleh guru/peserta, serta publikasi pada jurnal pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Hasil bimtek menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru-guru sekolah dasar dan menengah tentang karya tulis ilmiah. Hal ini didasarkan terjadinya peningkatan pemahaman tentang karya tulis ilmiah pada setiap komponen pertanyaan. Kata Kunci: bimbingan teknis; guru; karya tulis ilmiah; publikasi AbstractThe results of the needs analysis show that only 13.33% of teachers show high motivation in writing, especially scientific articles. However, 88.89% of teachers stated that they needed activities to improve their skills in producing scientific papers. To answer this need, it is necessary to provide community service in the form of technical guidance activities which aim to provide abilities and skills for primary education and secondary education teachers throughout Lampung Province in writing scientific papers and their publications. The series of activities are: (1) pretest to determine the teacher's knowledge about scientific writing, classroom action research, scientific articles, and publication of scientific papers; (2) presentation of material regarding scientific papers; (3) technical guidance on writing scientific articles from scientific papers; (4) technical guidance for the publication of scientific articles; and (5) posttest to determine the development of teacher knowledge and skills. Activities have been carried out with training, workshops and technical guidance by experts. The targeted output is increasing teachers' knowledge and skills in writing scientific papers, drafting scientific articles created by teachers/participants, as well as publication in community service journals. The results of the technical guidance show that this training activity is effective in improving the understanding and skills of primary and secondary school teachers regarding scientific writing. Abstract

Keterbatasan fasilitas dan keterampilan pembelajaran di laboratorium sains di lingkungan sekolah menengah (SMA) menjadi permasalahan umum yang dapat menurunkan minat dan pemahaman siswa di bidang sains. Permasalahan ini juga ditemukan di wilayah Bali Barat, di mana keterbatasan alat dan bahan serta keterampilan tenaga pendidik menjadi kendala dalam pembelajaran. Salah satu keterampilan pembelajaran di laboratorium sains yang penting serta membutuhkan alat dan bahan relatif sederhana adalah pengujian aktivitas antioksidan senyawa yang dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran di sekolah. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menguatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan pengujian aktivitas antioksidan pada guru dan siswa SMA di wilayah Bali Barat. Kegiatan pengabdian dihadiri oleh 40 guru dan 26 siswa dari 6 SMA negeri di wilayah Bali Barat yang dilaksanakan di aula Balai Taman Nasional Bali Barat (TNBB). Metode community-based interaction approach dilakukan melalui penyampaian materi dan diskusi interaktif serta praktikum pengujian aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) menggunakan alat dan bahan yang sederhana. Kegiatan pengabdian ini menguatkan pemahaman dan meningkatkan keterampilan guru dan siswa terkait sumber senyawa antioksidan, kapasitas antioksidan, prinsip dasar, dan praktik pengujian aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode FRAP.

Abstract

The distinction between parasitic and non-parasitic plants can be determined by analyzing the atp-1 gene, which plays a vital role in respiration and is known for its high mutation rate. This study analyzed the kinship of parasitic plant subclass species through the construction of a phylogenetic tree based on atp-1 gene sequences. The atp-1 gene sequences of parasitic and non-parasitic plants with a total of 29 species were obtained from NCBI. The sequences were then aligned with ClustalW and analyzed for mutation patterns. Sequences that have been aligned, phylogenetic trees were made with MEGA11 software with the Maximum Likelihood method and analyzed using the iTOL website. The sequences were analyzed for similarity and kinship with Matrix Coefficient and Haplotype Construction. The atp-1 gene proved that parasitic plants (hemiparasites) are furthermore related to non-parasitic plants compared to holoparasite parasitic plants. Besides that, the kinship of parasitic plants can be analyzed by several methods, namely matrix coefficient to measure similarity, DnaSP to analyzing haplotype, and haplotype network to find out detailed information on mutations that occur. Matrix coefficients can also be used to measure specific similarities between species. It was found that the same subclass had high similarities, for example the species Santalum album and Heisteria parvifolia with a genetic distance value of 0.00574. Meanwhile, different subclasses have low similarity, such as Cassytha filiformis and Ombrophytum with a genetic distance value of 0.07871. This study shows that the atp-1 gene is effective in analyzing the kinship between parasitic and non-parasitic plants. Hemiparasites are genetically closer to non-parasitic plants than holoparasites, with higher genetic similarity within the same subclass.

Abstract

Abstrak. Sebagian besar peserta didik SMA, terbiasa berpikir secara instan, terutama pada pelajaran sains yang membutuhkan tingkat berpikir secara kritis. Instrumen penilaian yang berfokus pada penerapan Hukum Newton I, II, III, khususnya instrumen yang tidak menggunakan perhitungan angka, masih sulit ditemukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan instrumen penilaian jenis uraian yang mengukur kemampuan berpikir kritis materi dinamika partikel, serta menguji kebakuan instrumen penilaian. Metode penelitian menggunakan Reseacrh and Development dengan langkah: mendefinisikan konstruk dan tujuan, menentukan format, konstruksi butir soal, pembuatan panduan penilaian, validasi teoritik, uji lapangan, analisis kebakuan, dan revisi. Uji coba dilakukan kepada 67 peserta didik yang telah mempelajari dinamika partikel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 8 butir soal valid dengan reliabilitas 0,86 kriteria sangat tinggi, taraf kesukaran: 1 sukar dan 9 sedang, daya pembeda: 2 baik sekali, 2 baik, 4 cukup, dan 2 tanpa daya pembeda. Instrumen penilaian ini dapat mengukur, sekaligus melatih peserta didik dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis.Kata kunci: Asesmen Fisika, SMA, Tes Essay Abstract. High school students are used to passive thinking, even in a science subject. Commonly the content of the material is not conveyed. Assessment instruments that focus on applying Newton's Laws, especially without numerical calculations, are still hard to find. The research aiming to develop the assessment instrument for measure critical thinking in the dynamic particle subject, then test the standardization of the instrument.  The research method used Research and Development, with the steps: defining the construct, determining the format, making an assessment guideline, theoretical validation, field testing, and standardization analysis. Trial of 67 students who have studied dynamics particle subject. The test results concluded eight valid questions, with a reliability of 0.86 consider very high value, with the level of difficulty: one difficult question and nine medium questions, and discrimination power: two very discriminate, two discriminate, four fair, and two without discrimination questions. This instrument can evaluate, as well as train students in improving critical thinking skills.Keywords: Physics Assessment, High-School, Essay Test

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap pemahaman konseptual tentang vector, siswa kelas XI SMA di Kabupaten Natar, Lampung Selatan. Populasi adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA dari tujuh SMA dan jumlah sampel sebanyak 167 siswa. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan 15 soal pilihan jamak dan alasan pertanyaan yang dibutuhkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hanya 39,1% siswa yang mengerti tentang konsep vektor. Vektor satuan adalah subtopik yang paling mudah dipahami dimana 61,1% siswa memahami subtopik sedangkan arah vektor adalah subtopik yang paling sulit bagi siswa dimana hanya 23,3% yang mengerti subtopic.Vectors Concepts Understanding Analysis on Junior High School StudentsThis research aims to reveal the students’ conceptual understanding about the vector of XI grade senior high school students in Natar district, South Lampung. The population was all of the students of XI grade from seven high schools, and the number of samples was 167 students. The data collected by using 15 multiple choice and reasons required questions. The results showed that only 39.1% students understood about vector concept. Unit vector was the most understandable subtopic where 61.1% of students understand the subtopic whereas the direction of the vector was the most challenging subtopic for students where only 23.3% understand the subtopic.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an LCDS- based the interactive electronic school book on blackbody radiation that is valid as self-instructional materials to foster students' critical thinking skills. The method used was research and development. The stages of the research were determining the existing potentials and problems, information gathering, product design, product validation, the final revision of the product, and feasibility tests and practicality of operation. The research instrument used was a questionnaire. Interactive electronic school book has supporting contents, namely user manual, user learning process, video, animation, simulations, and interactive tests. Expert test for product consists of content validation with the score of 3,36 (very appropriate) and design validation with the score of 3,45 (very appropriate). Readability of LCDS- based interactive electronic school book on blackbody radiation got the score of 3, 23 which belongs to the good quality. The practicality aspects got a score of 3.28 which means it can be operated independently

Abstract

One alternative for students to actively participate in education is to teach material through a practicum with a thermal-electric energy conversion tool equipped with Student Worksheet (SW). This matter shows that SW is a crucial subject to develop. This research aims to develop SW to stimulate students' critical thinking skills in the heat-electric energy conversion material. The research design used is ADDIE. The validity test instrument measures the validity of the SW by the expert and the small group test. The validity test results and the small group test show that the developed SW is valid and able to stimulate critical thinking skills so that the resulting SW is suitable to be used as an alternative moderate in learning material for thermal-electric energy conversion.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an ethnoscience-based E-worksheet on sound waves topics that are valid and practical. The E-worksheet developed to stimulate students' science process skills was developed using the Flip PDF Professional application. This study employed Design and Development Research (DDR), which consisted of four stages: analysis, design, development, and evaluation. This ethnoscience-based E-worksheet contains material and practical guidance using Gamolan to investigate the sound waves topic with science process skills indicators, namely observing, formulating problems, formulating hypotheses, determining variables, collecting, processing, and concluding data. The E-worksheet was declared highly valid, with an average score of 3.6. Based on the analysis, the ethnoscience-based E-worksheet can be used to teach sound waves for the second semester of eleventh-grade high school students. The E-worksheet obtained a percentage of 93% in the very practical category based on the practical test by students and teachers. The students commented that the E-worksheet is appropriate for classroom learning, is interesting to read, and is equipped with videos that helped them in the learning process.
