Abstract

Learning in the classroom is an important aspect of transmitting soft skills to students and a behavioristic approach has promising potential to be integrated with the process. The purpose of this research was to: (1) to determine the implementation of soft skills-based learning model development; and (2) to discover the development of a soft skills-based learning model to improve soft skills in students of the Faculty of Islamic Religion, University of Muhammadiyah Magelang. Therefore, this was a classroom action research and the design used was the model developed by Kemmis and Taggart. This consisted of four components, namely, planning, action, monitoring, and reflection. Furthermore, this research used the descriptive-quantitative analysis technique and three data collection methods namely observations, interviews, and questionnaires. These results indicated that: (1) the development of a soft skills-based learning model with a behavioristic approach is performed in several stages, namely: (a) the planning stage which includes soft skills attributes, lesson plans, and learning models determination including making assessment instruments; (b) implementation stages; (2) Development of soft skill-based learning model using a highly effective behavioristic approach to improve students' soft skills. This can be observed in the acquisition of soft skills scores, which were on average 10.6 at the start of the lecture and 20.41 at the conclusion.

Abstract

The results of learning science on the material of plant body parts and their functions in class IV MI Muhammadiyah Tirtosari are still relatively low. This is because the teacher uses a direct learning model so that students are not actively involved in learning and tend to be bored. Students will find it difficult to understand the material of plant body parts and their functions. This study aims to determine the cooperative learning model of the make a match type to improve science learning outcomes at MI Muhammadiyah Tirtosari. This study is a quantitative study using an experimental method. The population in this study was 111. From the results of data processing using SPSS version 23, the output results obtained were a df value of 15, a degree of freedom of 0.05 and a t table value of 2.13145. Thus, because the t count value of 14.292> t table 2.13145, as the basis for decision making above, it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that the application of the make a match type cooperative learning model can improve student learning outcomes on the material of plant body parts and their functions

Abstract

This study examines publication trends and thematic developments in research on Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and Science Process Skills (SPS) in elementary science education. A bibliometric approach was employed to analyze Scopus-indexed publications from 1992 to 2023, using title, abstract, and keyword searches with queries such as ("Higher Order Thinking Skills" AND "Science Process Skills" AND "elementary science education"). The data were processed using the Bibliometrix package and BiblioShiny interface in RStudio to map growth patterns, identify influential sources, leading countries, and emerging research themes related to the integration of HOTS and SPS. The results show a significant increase in publications since 2014, with 322 documents identified. The Journal of Physics: Conference Series emerged as the leading source, while Indonesia and Malaysia were the top contributing countries. Thematic analysis revealed dominant clusters around inquiry learning, critical thinking, and digital assessment, with a noticeable shift towards applied instructional and assessment models that combine HOTS and SPS. This reflects the growing alignment of research with 21st-century education reforms emphasizing inquiry-based and problem-solving skills. The findings suggest a strong integration of HOTS and SPS in science education, but also highlight gaps in long-term classroom implementation, particularly in elementary school contexts. This study underscores the need for curriculum frameworks and teacher professional development programs focused on effectively integrating HOTS and SPS into elementary science education

Abstract

The rise of global ideological polarization, marked by the strengthening of right-wing and left-wing ideologies as well as the spread of post-truth narratives, poses significant challenges to religious organizations in maintaining ideological moderation and social cohesion. This study examines Muhammadiyah’s responses to these global ideological currents and analyzes its position in navigating ideological contestation in the contemporary era. Employing a qualitative approach with a literature-based and thematic analysis, this study draws on Muhammadiyah’s official documents, organizational decisions, intellectual discourses, and relevant scholarly literature. The findings indicate that Muhammadiyah responds to ideological polarization through a framework of critical centrism, grounded in the principles of Islam Wasathiyah, tajdid (renewal), and the Manhaj Tarjih methodology. This approach enables Muhammadiyah to critically engage with both right-wing exclusivism and left-wing secularism while resisting the epistemic distortions characteristic of the post-truth era. Rather than adopting rigid ideological positions, Muhammadiyah promotes a balanced, rational, and ethical Islamic perspective that emphasizes social justice, democratic values, and religious moderation. The study highlights Muhammadiyah’s role as a mediating force in Indonesia’s religious and ideological landscape and underscores its contribution to fostering constructive public discourse amid global ideological turbulence.

The transformation of education in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0 has brought fundamental changes to the role of elementary school teachers. Teachers are expected to possess technological skills as well as expertise in managing the learning process so that synergy between technological literacy and pedagogy can be created, which in turn enhances the effectiveness and quality of learning in a sustainable manner. This quantitative study analyzes the relationship between teachers’ technological literacy and the quality of learning. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 21 teachers across 9 sub-districts in Magelang Regency. The level of teachers’ technological literacy and learning quality was measured using a Likert scale. Bivariate and multivariate analyses, including correlation and regression modeling, were conducted to explore the influence of teachers’ technological literacy on learning quality. The findings indicate that teachers’ technological literacy contributes 70.6% to the quality of learning, while the remaining 29.4% is influenced by other factors.
