Abstract

The community forest is an alternative solution to the problem of the pressure of forest resources. The benefits obtained by the community depend on the management carried out by community forest farmers. This study aims to see and analyse the strategy of developing community forests in Bandar Dalam Village. The study was conducted in May 2015. The data collected is the potential data of wood analysed quantitatively. Measurement of wood potential data was carried out using a 10m x 10m square measuring plot with a sampling intensity of 1.3%. Analysis of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats was carried out to determine the right development in the community forests of Bandar Dalam Village. The community forest development strategy that needs to be implemented is the maintenance of trees, reducing the weakness of knowledge about forests by increasing knowledge about the benefits of forests and reducing threats by using simple technologies such as the use of complete agricultural tools and fertilisation. Keywords: forest products, wood private forests, the development strategy

Abstract

Amphibian is a vertebrate animal whose life is always associated with water. Anura ordo has the most extensive spread in Indonesia. A study on amphibians in Way Kambas National Park has never been conducted. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to find out the diversity, evenness, dominance, temperature, and humidity of three various habitats of amphibians of Anura ordo in Rawa Bunder National Park Management Resort (RPTN Rawa Bunder), Way Kambas National Park, Indonesia. Amphibian data was collected using the visual encounter survey and line transect methods. The results of this research discovered amphibians in 6 families, which consisted of 13 species of amphibians based on observations in three different habitat types. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H') was categorized as moderate with the H' of 1.91–2.27. The evenness index (E) was considered stable, ranging between 0.87–0.91. The dominant index (D) falls into the low dominance group, with the D value ranging between 0.13–0.19. This shows that no dominant species is present. Abstract

This study aims to determine the conflict mitigation efforts that have been carried out and analyze strategies for managing human-elephant conflicts in the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park. The research data was collected by focus group discussion and observation. The collected data were analyzed descriptively based on the factors of strength, weakness, opportunity and threat analysis to determine the strategy for managing human-elephant conflict. The results of the study indicate that several efforts have been made to reduce the incidence of conflict through patrols, monitoring, and dispelling and escorting using firecrackers. The strategy supports an aggressive growth policy (growth oriented strategy). It is hoped that the incidence of human-elephant conflict can be reduced or suppressed through a holistic and integrative approach. Mitigation of human conflict with elephants that can be done in the long term is by making special interest tourism programs and increasing human resource capacity. Abstract

Mangrove forests are a life-support system and have ecological, socio-cultural, and economic benefits. Monitoring trends in forest health indicators is carried out to control forest damage so that it remains below the loss threshold, thereby ensuring the sustainability of mangrove forests. The margasari mangrove forest is one of the ecosystems in lampung province that acts as a buffer and protector for coastal areas. A healthy forest is one that can carry out its functions in a real way, be they conservation functions, protection functions, or production functions. The margasari mangrove forest is categorized as a protected forest, so it needs to be monitored intensively so that its sustainability is maintained. The aim of the research is to determine trends in health indicators for the margasari mangrove forest in east lampung regency. The research was carried out using the forest health monitoring method, observing each tree in the plot clusters and analyzing ecological indicators including productivity, vitality, and site quality. The research results show that productivity indicators have increased by 1.716 m3/ha S-C and 10.31 m3/ha P-T, CLI has increased by 3.22 S-C and 4.86 C-T, VCR has decreased by 2.05 S-C and 0.01 C-T, and indicators of soil pH experienced a decrease in S-C of 0.002 and an increase in C-T of 0.085. The fluctuations and condition of each indicator are influenced by changes in the condition of the ecological indicators of the mangrove forest and by human activities and natural conditions that threaten the sustainability of the mangrove forest

Abstract

Abstract
