Abstract

Teaching materials are an important in the implementation of education. Teaching materials have to the needs and attract students' interest in learning. Teaching materials must also be able to assist teachers in delivering subject matter. From the results of observations of teaching materials in vocational students, researchers found data that the delivery of materials in teaching materials was quite monotonous. The presentation of this monotonous material does not attract students' interest in using teaching materials. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The place of this research is a vocational high school (SMK) State 3 Metro, Lampung Province. The research subjects used were 8 students and 3 mathematics teachers at SMKN 3 Metro. The research instrument used was a questionnaire sheet and an interview guide. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman stages, namely: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on result and discussion show that materials teaching mathematics for vocational students are needed novelty of: 1) systematic preparation, 2) materials adapted to the characteristics of vocational students, 3) presentation of teaching materials adapted to technological developments, 4) use of technology to attract students' interest, 5) the form of teaching materials that are more practical and easy to use. AbstrakBahan ajar merupakan bagian penting dalam pelaksanaan Pendidikan. Abstract

Mathematical representation and connection ability are part of the student's ability. Because of their low ability, educators will find it difficult to determine learning tools in the classroom. Therefore, finding a link between the two abilities is necessary to make it easier for teachers to prepare lessons. This study aims to determine the relationship between representational abilities and students' mathematical connections. The population in this study were all grade eight students at a state junior high school in Merbau Mataram, with a total sample of 34 selected using a class random sampling technique. The research instrument was a mathematical representation test and a connection ability test with a total of six questions. Data analysis used the correlation coefficient test of the Pearson/Product Moment formula. The results showed a significant relationship between students' mathematical representation ability and the overall connection. This means that the ability of mathematical representation is directly proportional to the ability of mathematical connections. The higher the student's mathematical representation ability, the higher the student's connection ability, and vice versa. Teachers can focus on preparing learning tools for one of these two abilities.

Abstract

Mathematical representation is essential as the gateway to mastering mathematical literacy. This literature study aims to determine the growth of students' mathematical representation abilities in the last three years. This literature study presents a literature review on the development of mathematical representations, including media, strategies, and measurement instruments to serve as the basis for future mathematical representations. The literature study method used is the SLR (Systematic Literature Review), utilizing a review procedure that refers to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework in the period 2020 to 2022 because the growth in literature studies on mathematical representations is very significant and latest. Data were collected by reviewing 24 Scopus-indexed articles and proceedings from the Scopus database. The study's results reveal that from the 24 selected literature, it can be interpreted if the mathematical representation ability can be improved and fulfills the indicators of mathematical representation itself by providing innovation in media, strategies, and instruments in learning mathematics. The innovations provided can be in the form of technology integration (Geogebra), no longer conventional strategies (RME strategy), and instrument indicators of the representation itself. Thus the ability of students' mathematical representations is no longer included in the low category in solving mathematical problems.

Abstract

The low science literacy of students is caused by the lack of utilization of technology in learning activities such as the use of teaching materials. One way to improve students' science literacy is to develop innovative learning materials such as learning e-modules. This study aims to produce contextual teaching and learning-based learning e-modules on IPAS Phase B learning, material for changing the form of energy to improve the science literacy of students in elementary school. This research is a type of Research and Development (R&D) research, the development was carried out referring to the Borg & Gall theory. Data collection tools use valid and reliable test instruments. Based on the results of the material, media and language expert validation test of the validity of the contextual teaching and learning-based learning e-module product obtained an average value of 0.813 with decent criteria. Furthermore, the results of the educator's response test to the contextual teaching and learning-based learning e-module users obtained 86.88 with very practical criteria, while the response of students obtained an average value of 97.59 with very practical criteria. Then the results of the data effectiveness test using the paired t-test with the calculation result of 0.000 < 005 means that there is a significant difference between before being given treatment with contextual teaching and learning-based learning e-modules and after being given the treatment. Based on the data obtained from the results of the study, it can be concluded that the contextual teaching and learning-based learning e-module on the material of changing the form of energy is valid, practical, and effective to improve the science literacy of students in elementary schools

Abstract

Mathematical representation ability is an essential skill for students to understand mathematical concepts. Many studies have been conducted regarding this ability, but it is necessary to map existing research to provide a clearer picture of future research topics. This study aims to provide a bibliometric review of trends using mathematical representation skills in mathematics teaching research. The method in this study is bibliometric analysis, which aims to analyze and classify bibliographic material by presenting representative summaries of the literature in the Scopus database. The search was carried out using the keyword "mathematical representation" and selecting "article title" in the search menu in the Scopus.com database. Perish or Publish (PoP) software analyzes the author's name, number of document citations, document title, year of publication, document source, publisher, and document type. The results showed 99 publications and 357 citations related to mathematical representations, where the number of publications and citations fluctuated. The application of learning models and approaches, computer media, and analysis of mathematical representations is a research trend related to this variable. Therefore, paying attention to mathematical representations in learning mathematics and using effective strategies to improve students' mathematical representation abilities is essential. The findings of this study indicate the need to develop syntax and learning media based on mathematical representations to strengthen students' mathematical abilities.

Abstract

Problem solving is one of the most important skills for students. One way to develop students' problem-solving skills is to use a digital module designed to develop problem-solving skills, namely a STEM-based digital module that is oriented towards problem-solving skills. This study aims to produce STEM-based digital modules to develop valid, practical, and effective problem solving skills. This research is a development research using the ADDIE model. The instrument used consisted of a validation sheet filled out by experts in the field of mathematics education, a practical assessment sheet for educators and students, and a learning outcome test with problem solving questions. The quality of the developed digital module is reviewed from the aspects of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The result is that the digital module developed is included in the valid category with an overall percentage of 88,67%, and the practicality of the digital module is seen from the response of students with a percentage of 87% and the response of educators 83.90% with a very practical category. The aspect of effectiveness based on the learning outcomes test with problem solving questions has increased in terms of the results of the pretest and posttest with an N-gain of 0.69 in the medium category. Based on the results and analysis, it can be concluded that the digital module developed is valid, practical, and effective and is suitable for students to use in learning mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical representation abilities of Grade XI students focusing on the topic of compound interest. Mathematical representation is one of the essential competencies in mathematics education, encompassing visual, verbal, and symbolic forms. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through essay-based tests and in-depth student interviews. The study population consisted of Grade XI students from SMA YP Unila Bandar Lampung. The findings revealed that most students were unable to accurately represent the concept of compound interest. Common errors included inaccuracies in modeling compound interest growth and a tendency to apply arithmetic approaches instead of exponential ones. These findings indicate that students’ mathematical representation abilities—particularly in symbolic and verbal forms remain low. Therefore, strengthening instructional strategies that support the structured and meaningful development of mathematical representation skills is necessary.
