Abstract

The increasing population of the elderly presents new challenges concerning quality of life. The depiction of elderly physical activity is influenced by their level of well-being. This study aimed to examine the depiction of factors influencing physical activity and independence among the elderly, which impact optimal elderly quality of life. Three journal databases, namely Scopus, Science Direct, and ProQuest were utilized for the period spanning from 2002 to 2022. The search yielded six articles meeting the inclusion criteria. Findings from the literature review indicated that elderly physical activity is associated with various aspects of their well-being, such as prosperity, social relationships, physical and mental health. Socio-demographic factors, such as gender, age, assets, and income were also linked to the elderly's activity profiles. Another finding suggested the necessity for the development and implementation of technology in the planning and management of recreational and health activities for the elderly. It can enhance various aspects of elderly well-being, including physical work capacity, emotional status, somatic health, and cognitive function. In conclusion, physical activity plays a crucial role in enhancing overall elderly well-being, while socio-demographic factors and social environments also significantly influence elderly activity profiles and well-being.

Abstract

Incidents of sexual violence are like an iceberg phenomenon and continue to increase every year. However, this increase is inversely proportional to the rehabilitative efforts provided for victims of sexual violence. The impact of sexual violence is trauma that makes the victim feel helpless. Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) is the therapy of choice to treat these impacts. This systematic review aims to determine the implementation and benefits of TF-CBT for trauma victims of sexual violence. The search used seven databases: Scopus, Sage Journals, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, PubMed, Clinical Key, and EBSCOhost. The research design used in the selected articles was three with RCTs, 5 with Quasy experiments, and 2 with cohorts. Selection is based on the criteria of article publication time in the last ten years, providing full text in English. The symptoms measured in trauma cases are PTSD, post-traumatic symptoms, mental problems such as depression, suicide attempts, and behavioral problems. The results showed that TF-CBT positively influenced all of these symptoms. Implementing TF-CBT also involves the role of parents and modifications with culturally sensitive principles. TF-CBT can reduce trauma symptoms. It is hoped that TF-CBT can be used in other trauma cases and apply modification principles that previous researchers have carried out by being culturally sensitive and involving the role of parents.

Abstract

Introduction: Problems in the breasts and nipple are commonly faced by mothers which affects breastfeeding process. Appropriate and suitable intervention for breast and nipple problems that occur is one of the competencies both health workers and mothers must know Objective: To identify and explain breast and nipple problems that occur in breastfeeding mothers. 6 electronic databases were used; Science Direct, ProQuest, Springer Link, Taylor & Francis Online, Clinical Key Nursing, and Google Scholar. Results: There were 12 articles (sample 1,980) with breast and nipple problems in breastfeeding mothers there are breast engorgement (65%), breast pain (52.5%), plugged milk ducts (45.9%), nipple pain (15.5%), mastitis (10.5%), cracks and lesions on the nipple (9.7%), inverted nipple (4.2%), and breast abscess (0.6%). Five Steps Systematic Therapy (FSST) intervention can overcome breast pain, breast engorgement, mastitis, plugged milk ducts. Low-Level Laser Therapy can treat pain, cracks and nipple lesions. Reverse pressure softening technique can treat breast engorgement. Therapeutic breast massage can treat breast pain, breast engorgement, plugged milk ducts. Integrated Breast Massage can treat plugged milk ducts. Hoffman exercise and inverted syringe can correct inverted. Ultrasound-guided percutaneous catheters and hydrostatic pressure irrigation can treat breast abscesses. Lanolin, breast milk, aloe vera and olive oil were effective in treating pain, cracks and nipple lesions; Cold cabbage can treat breast pain and breast swelling. Conclusion: Breast and nipple problems in breastfeeding mothers can be addressed with all interventions.

Abstract

The high prevalence of smoking among adolescents poses a significant global health challenge. While resilience has been identified as a protective factor against risky behaviors, the underlying mechanisms and influencing factors have not been comprehensively synthesized. This study aimed to examine the relationship between resilience and smoking behavior among adolescents and to identify the mediating factors of this relationship through a systematic review. A systematic review design was employed following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. A comprehensive literature search was conducted across ScienceDirect, PubMed, ProQuest, and Scopus databases without publication year restrictions. The methodological quality of the included studies was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Checklist for Analytical Cross-Sectional Studies. Of the 326 articles identified, 10 studies met the inclusion criteria. The results indicated that high levels of resilience were significantly associated with lower rates of smoking behavior among adolescents. Resilience functions as a protective factor through the interaction between internal assets and external resources. Family support, school connectedness, positive peer support, and mental well-being were identified as key mediating factors that strengthen resilience in preventing smoking initiation. This study concludes that health promotion strategies and nursing interventions should not only focus on the dangers of smoking but also integrate resilience-building through a holistic approach involving family and school environments.

Abstract

Introduction: This study aims to investigate whether the FACIT-Sp-12's measurement properties yield the most accurate spiritual data for cancer patients. Methods: This systematic review examined full-text studies written in English and involving patients with cancer published between 2000 and 2024, using cross-sectional, randomized controlled trials, case-control, and quasi-experimental designs. This study used the MEDLINE (PubMed and EBSCO), ScienceDirect, Scopus, Taylor and Francis, and selected ProQuest databases. We assessed the papers methodically using the PRISMA flow before reviewing ten of them. The Consensus-based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments tool has been used for evaluating the review articles. Results: We found that various studies on spirituality in cancer patients conducted in different countries have employed diverse research methods. All these studies used the FACIT-Sp-12, which has been modified and adapted for cultural contexts. Cronbach's alpha ranges from 0.70 to 0.91, indicating that FACIT-Sp-12 is consistent across studies. COSMIN has been used to evaluate and critique FACIT-Sp-12; however, its structural validity, Cronbach's alpha for the subscales, intraclass correlation, and measurement error remain unsatisfactory. Some publications examine hypotheses and provide satisfactory responses, but there is little discussion on criterion validity or cross-cultural adaptation. Conclusions: We determined that patients with cancer could use the FACIT-Sp-12. This study suggests using the FACIT-Sp-12 spiritual assessment tool for cancer patients in research and nursing care.
