Abstract

The research aims to determine  the influence of application of solid decanter and tabletNPK and get a combination is best for plant growth palm oil that comes from twin sprouts in Two-year-old Immature Oil Palm. Research has been carried out at the Experimental Farm Faculty of Agrotechnology, University of Riau, Rimbo, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. Research was conducted from December 2017 until March 2018.The research was carried out experimentally using Compeletely Randomize Block Design (RAK) consisting of 5 treatments: P0 (without fertilizers), P1 (Solid decanter 1.430 t. ha-¹ + NPK 8 tablets per plant), P2 (Solid decanter 1.430 t. ha-¹ + NPK 10 tablets per plant), P3 (Solid decanter 2.145 t. ha-¹ + NPK 8 tablets per plant), P4 (Solid decanter 2.145 t. ha-¹ + NPK 10 tablets per plant). The observed parameters were a plant height, number of leaves, petiolelength and stems circumference. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using the analysis of variance  and Duncan at the 5 % level.The results showed that the application of various dosages of NPK fertilizer with solid decanter tablet gives added influence on plant height, stem length, number of leaves, petiolelength and the circumference of the stem of the plant oil palm seedling origin in twins TBM II. Application of 2.145 t. ha-1 solid decanter with 10 tablets ofNPK gave the best combination of all of the parameters.Keywords: Palm Oil, Twin sprouts, Solid decanter, Tablets NPK.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the response of several varieties of soy (Glycine max (L.) Merril) with the arrangement of distance planting for growth and production and gaining the best varieties and distances. This research has been conducted in the Faculty of Agriculture Plantation University of Riau, campus Bina Widya km 12.5 village Simpang Baru, Tampan district, Pekanbaru city. This research has been conducted from November 2017 to February 2018. Research is conducted experimentally using a group of random plans (RAK), compiled factorial with 2 factors and 3 repeats. The first factor is a variety consisting of V1 (Argomuolyo), V2 (Anjasmoro), V3 (Wilis). The second factor is the arrangement of distances consisting of J1 (40 cm x 15 cm), J2 (40 cm x 20 cm), J3 (40 cm x 25 cm). There are 9 combinations of treatments and each treatment is repeated 3 times, resulting in 27 units of tests. The observed parameters are high crop, root header ratio, dry weight of the plant, flowering plant age, number of main branches, Harvest age, number of righteous pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, weighing 100 seeds, weight of seeds per m2. Data obtained from subsequent observations is analyzed statistically using various fingerprints. The print results were continued with Duncan's multi-distance test at 5%. Results showed that the use of varieties Argomulyo with planting distance 40 cm x 15 cm can increase the growth and production of soy compared with other treatments.Keywords : soybean, varieties, planting space, growth, production

Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate various agronomic characters of soybean in F7 line from Grobogan crossing with KM25 for the potential line for F8 line. A total of ten genotypes were planted consisting of eight from F7 lines and two comparison parents (Grobogan and KM 25). The changes that observed were age of flowering, age of harvest, plant height, number of primary branches, number of pods per plant, number of pithy pods, number of seeds per plant, weight of seeds per plant, weight of 100 seeds, weight of seeds per m2, weight of plants per plot, and index of harvest. Data were analyzed statistically use SAS and the results of analysis of variance followed by test of dunnett level 5%. Analysis of variance shows that there are significant differences between F7 lines of soybean and comparison parents in age of flowering, age of harvest, plant of height, number of pods per plant, number of pithy pods per plant, weigh of seeds per plant, weight of 100 seeds, weigh of seed per m2, weight of plants per plot and index of harvest. The character of weight of seeds per plant has a wide diversity value because it is twice higher than the error standard. The characters that belongs into the group of high heritability values are number of pods per plant, number of pithy pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, weight of seeds per m2, weight of plants per plot and index of harvest. The highest selection value is on weight of plants per plot. The character with high crops and age of early maturity can be used as criteria for selecting new superior variety. keywords : soybean, agronomic characters, Grobogan, KM 25

Abstract

ABSTRACT Chili high yield is the target of plant breeding. High yielding chili selection can be done through direct selection of yield characters and indirectly through other characters. Indirect selection is more efficient than the selection of one character. This research aims to study the relationship between quantitative characters with yield as well as obtaining the selection criteria. Correlation analysis results showed that the fruit weight, fruit diameter, pericarp thickness, leaf width, and leaf length were positively correlated and were very significant on yield. Based on the path analysis, characters that have a positive direct effect on yield are fruit weight, fruit diameter, leaf width, and leaf length, while pericarp thickness had a negative direct effect but had a large indirect effect on yield.

Abstract

Akar menjadi salah satu faktor yang menentukan pertumbuhan, perkembangan, serta hasil tanaman kedelai. Hal ini disebabkan akar menjadi organ pertama yang merespon kondisi media tanam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui variabilitas dan nilai heritabilitas karakter akar beberapa genotipe kedelai. Penelitian dilaksanakan menggunakan wadah dari kaca (rhizobox) di Laboratorium Pemuliaan Tanaman, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Riau. Penelitian dilaksanakan secara eksperimental menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap, dengan perlakuan berupa 20 genotipe kedelai yang diulang 3 kali. Benih yang digunakan berasal dari Balitkabi. Karakter yang diamati yaitu: panjang plumula, panjang akar primer, panjang akar sekunder, jangkauan akar sekunder, kedalaman akar sekunder, dan jumlah akar yang panjang >1 cm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat keragaman genetik yang sangat tinggi pada karakter panjang plumula, panjang akar sekunder, jangkauan akar dan jumlah akar yang panjang >1 cm. Karakter kedalaman akar sekunder memiliki keragaman genetik luas, sedangkan panjang akar primer memiliki keragaman genetik rendah. Nilai heritabilitas seluruh karakter tinggi kecuali kedalaman akar sekunder yang memiliki nilai heritabilitas sedang dan panjang akar primer yang memiliki nilai heritabilitas rendah. Root is one of the important factors that determine the growth, development, and yield of soybean plants. Root is the first organ to respond to growing media conditions. This study aimed to determine variability and heritability values of root characters of several soybean genotypes. The research was conducted using a glass container (rhizobox) at the Plant Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. The study was an experimental research in a completely randomized design, with the treatment consisted of 20 genotypes repeated 3 times. The seeds used originated from Balitkabi. The characters observed were: plumule length, primary root length, secondary root length, secondary root reach, secondary root depth, and number of long roots >1 cm. The results showed that there was very wide variability in the character of the plumule length, secondary root length, secondary root range, and number of root range >1 cm. The secondary root depth character had wide genetic variability, while the primary root length had narrow genetic variability. The heritability values for all characters were high except for secondary root depth which had medium heritability and the primary root length had low heritability.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the growth and fiber content of five kenaf varieties and find out the variety that able to give the best fiber yield. This research was conducted in the agricultural experimental unit, Agriculture Faculty, Riau University from May until September 2015. The study arranged experimentally using Randomized Block Design (RBD) consist of 5 treatments and 4 replications. Varieties those used are Karang Ploso 6, Karang Ploso 9, Karang Ploso 11, Karang Ploso 12 and Karang Ploso 14.The data were examined by analysis of variance and means separation by Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test at 5%. The parameters those observed were flowering age, harvesting age, plant height, stem diameter, plant fresh weight, stem fresh weight, fiber dry weight, and ratio of stem fiber. Varieties of  Karang Ploso 6, Karang Ploso 9, Karang Ploso 12 dan Karang Ploso 14 has same plant height potential. Higher plant will produce longer fibers.   Keywords : kenaf, varieties, growth.

Abstract

  The objective of this research was to determine of yield potential and seed physiologic quality for some genotypes of BATAN’s sweet sorghum and also was to determinethe best genotypes of sweet sorghum beetwen the attempt genotypes. This research has conducted in Field Experiment and Plant Breeding laboratory Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau, Pekanbaru, from April 2013 until November 2013. The research has conducted experimentally using randomizedblock design (RBD) consist of 13 treatments and 3 replications that contained 39 experimental units. These treatments consist of 10 BATAN’s sweet sorghum strains, there are Patir 1, Patir 2, Patir 3,    Patir 4, Patir 5, Patir 6, Patir 7, Patir 8, Patir 9 and Patir 10; and 3 sweet sorghum varieties as a comparison, there are Kawali, Mandau and Pahat. The result suggested that Patir 10 strain has the highest of grain weight/m2 that is 378,85 g (3,78 ton/ha), and Patir 9 strain has the seed physiologic quality better than 3 sweet sorghum varieties as a comparison and ever sweet sorghum strains. Patir 10 and  Patir 9 strains has the highest yield and seed physiologic quality, even higher than 3 sweet soghum varieties, so that both sweet sorghum strains recommended to the next attempt. Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the effect of different spacing of the components and the results of carbohydrate content and find out proper plant spacing for each sorghum cultivars. This research was conducted at the Agriculture experiment station and in the plant breeding laboratory, Riau University from April 2015 to Agustus 2015. Research conducted as an experiment using a randomized block design (RAK), which consists of two factors and three replications, The first factor was sorghum cultivar which consists of Patir 9, Patir 10, Pahat  and Mandau. The second factor was spacing of which is comprised of a spacing of 75 cm x 15 cm, 75 cm x 20 cm and 75 cm x 25 cm. Observational data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance. The parameters were observed amongtime to harvest, panicle length, seed weight per panicle, seed weight per m2, weight of 1000 seeds, harvest moisture content and carbohydrate content. The results showed that sorghum cultivars with a narrow  spacing (75 cm x 15 cm), middle (75 cm x 20 cm) and distantly (75 cm x 25 cm) not accelerate time to harvest, do not increase the yield component that seed weight per m2 and weight of 1000 seeds, as well as harvest moisture content and carbohydrate content. Mandau cultivars with spacing distantly (75 cm x 25 cm) have tended to be higher carbohydrate content that is 85.12% compared to the three other cultivars. Cultivars Patir 9 at narrow spacing (75 cm x 15 cm) have the results tend to be more that 4.1 tonnes/ha compared to the three other cultivars. Keywords: sorghum cultivars, plant spacing, yield components and carbohydrate content

Abstract

Chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) is the one of vegetable commodities that has high economic value.Low productivity chili in Riau caused by several factors, including soil conditions mostly submarginal land such as peatland. This study aimed to obtain the performance chili hybrids from crosses between wrinkled chili and smooth chili that was grown in the peatland to be recommended as a genotype that has a high yield. This study used a randomized block design (RBD), consisting of 8 treatments (IPB C-111xIPB C5, IPB C-111xIPB C19,IPB C-120xIPB-C5,IPB C-120xIPB C-19,IPB C-159xIPB C-5, IPB C-159xIPB C-19, Tanamo, Biola) and 3 replications. The results of this study showed that 8 chili genotypeshad grown in peatland had different potentials between a genotype with others.All chilies genotype showed nonsignificant weight per plant compare to Tanamo and Biola. Genotype ofIPB C120xIPB C-5 is the highest yieldbecause had bigger stem diameter and highest fruit weigth. Keyword : Chili, Genotypes, Performance, Peatland.

Abstract

While higher productivity can be achieved if the tomato seedlings were taken from new varieties that have adapted to the agro-climate. To produce new varieties that have high productivity and stability require gene sources of plant traits that support these objectives, this can be achieved through plant breeding programs. This study aimed to observe the growth and yield of four tomato strains grown in low-lying areas with comparable varieties of Intan and Ratna. Research carried out at the This study used a randomized block design with six treatments of tomato genotypes and 3 replications. Genotypes were tested for the T33-IPB 1-3, IPB T57-3, T60-IPB 2-6, IPB-8b 2201-5. Check varieties ie Intan and Ratna.The parameters measured were plant height, stem diameter, days to flowering, harvest, fruit length, fruit diameter, flesh thickness, fruit cavity number, weight per fruit, total fruit weight per plant and number of seeds per gram. The results showed that of all genotypes tested significantly affected the growth and yield of plants. Significantly different genotypes tested to date of flowering, maturity, plant height, stem diameter fruit length, fruit diameter, flesh thickness, fruit cavity number,weight per fruit, number of seeds per gram and total fruit weight per plant.. The results of the total weight per plant was highest in genotype-IPB 1-3 T33 and T57 followed IPB-3 genotype and the lowest total weight per plant was found in 2201 IPB-58B genotype and Ratna varieties followed.Technical Services Unit of the Faculty of Agriculture in October until February 2013.Keyword: Tomatoes, Genotypes, growth and yield, lowlands
