Abstract

This research aims to determine the diversity of local rice accessions from East Kampar and North Kampar, Kampar District. This research was carried out at the Experimental Garden and Laboratory of Plant Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru from September 2017 to March 2018 with descriptive analysis method, where there are 10 local rice accessions planted in pots . Each local rice accessions consists of five experimental sample units with a total of 50 units of data. The results of obtained character diversity of rice plants with all accessions has a drooping panicle shaft and medium criteria of plant age, 90% accession have a 2-cleft leaf tongue shape, 80% accessions has a high criteria plant height, 70% accessions has a panicle out shape with all panicle and neck panicle out, 60% local rice accessions have fertility of fertile grains, and 50% accessions has a long leaf character short criteria and the stem segment has a golden yellow color. Keywords: local rice, kinship, diversity, morphology, agronomy.

Abstract

Tomato plants were one type of horticultural crops those play an important role in the nutritional needs of the community, because it contains vitamins and minerals needed for health.One of the critical success factors of tomato cultivation was the use of high yielding varieties that adapted well to the growth environment.This study aims to obtain best yield of some tomato genotypes that can grow well in the lowlands. This study using a completely randomized block design (CRBD)consisting of 6 treatments and 3 replications, so there are 18 experimental units. The treatmentswere: genotype IPB T64-2-2 (1), IPB T43-6-8, IPB T33-1-3, IPB T30- 4-4, Intan variety, and Karina.The genotypes treatments were significantly affect the plant height, stem diameter, days to flowering, harvesting time, fruit diameter, number of fruit cavities, fruit flesh thickness, number of seeds per gram, weight per fruit, and total weight per plant.The experimental result showed those genotypes IPB T43-6-8 and IPB T33-1-3 has the highest total fruit weight. Genotipe IPB T43-6-8 has a lowest total fruit weight per plant (777.1 g) comparend to Intan and Karina. Keywords:Yield potential, Lycopersicumesculentum, genotype, lowland

Abstract

This research explains comparison of effectiveness human urine  with urea fertilizer on the growth of cocoa seedlings (Theobroma cacao, L). This Research use Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with seven treatments, namely: (1) U0 = 2 g Urea, (2) U1 = 50 ml human urine without fermentation, (3) U2 = 100 ml human urine without fermentation, (4 ) U3 = 50 ml fermentation of human urine for 7 days,  (5) U4 = 100 ml fermentation of human urine for 7 days, (6) U5 = 50 ml fermentation of human urine for 14 days, and (7) U6 = 100 ml fermentation of human urine for 14 days. Each treatment was repeated 3 times, thus obtained 21 experimental units.  in this research, parameters measured were seedling height, number of leaves, leaf area, stem diameter, root volume, wet weight, dry weight of plants, the ratio of roots crown, and seed quality index of cocoa seedlings. The data obtained in this study continued using Duncan's Multiple Range Test 5%. This study shows that the use of human urine is more effective than the use of urea fertilizer, especially on the use of 100 ml of human urine without fermentation. The use of human urine 100 ml without fermentation, can significantly improve seedling height, leaf number, root volume, wet weight, and quality of cocoa seedlings index. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the yield and quality of seeds of four varieties of sweet sorghum were given different doses of potassium fertilizers as well as to get a dose of potassium is best to yield and seed quality of sweet sorghum. This research was carried out in the field and laboratory experiments Plant Breeding, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, from August 2014 to December 2014. This study was conducted using a randomized block design (RAK) arranged as factorial with two factors and three replications. The first factor is composed of four varieties of sorghum varieties that Kawali, Numbu, sculpting and Mandau. Factor II is a dose of KCl fertilizer consists of three levels IE: 30 kg KCl / ha, 60 kg KCl / ha and 90 kg KCl / ha. The parameters observed where grain weight / panicle, weight of 1000 seeds, seed weight / m2, moisture content, germination test, first count test, test speed germination, seedling dry weight, test plumula and radicle growth. Data was analyzed with Anova and Duncan's multiple range test level of 5%. The results showed that 60 kg / ha KCl produced the highest yield on Kawali varieties as many as 11.2 tons / ha. KCl fertilizer application as much as 30 kg / ha gave the best seed physiological quality for varieties Kawali, Numbu, and Mandau. Keywords:sorghum, potassium, yield, physiological seed quality

Abstract

The objective of the research was to study the agronomic characteristics ofsorghum and studying genetic relationships genotypes of 13 sweet sorghum. Thisresearch  has  been  carried  on  in  the  field  experiment  and  Plant  BreedingLaboratory,  Faculty  of  Agriculture,  University  of  Riau,  Pekanbaru, from April2013 to September 2013.The data were examined by analysis of variance consistof 13 treatments and 3 replications that contained 39 experimmental units. Thesetreatments consist of BATAN’s sweet sorghum strains, there are Patir-1, Patir-2,Patir-3, Patir-4, Patir-5, Patir-6, Patir-7, Patir-8, Patir-9, Patir-10 and 3 sweetSorghum  varieties  as  a  comparison,  there  are  Kawali,  Mandau  and  Pahat.GenotypePatir-10 has the highest of seed weight are 3.78 ton/ha compare to othergenotypes.  The results of the research  showed that clusters are the differencesand similarities between the 13 sorghum genotypes tested on quantitative andqualitative variables.  Based  on  the cluster analysisPatir 2 and  Patir 3 are genotype that has nearst genetic with the lowest genetic  distance is 1.71. Patir 9 and Mandau have farthest genetic relationship with the highest genetic distance is 84.24.   Keywords : characteristic, relationship, sorghum and Cluster Analysis.

Abstract

This research aims to increase the production of upland red rice plants with organic fertilizer of bokashi and ferinsa.This research was conducted at the experimental farm of the Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau started in May to August 2015. The experiment using a completely randomized design 7 treatments and 3 replications and. The treatments in this research are b0 = without fertilizer, b1 =60 g Bokashi and 10% ferinsa, b2 = 60 g Bokashi and 20% Ferinsa, b3 = 60 g Bokashi and 30% Ferinsa, b4 = 120 g Bokashi and 10% Ferinsa, b5 = 120 g Bokashi and 20% Ferinsa (%), b6 = 120 g Bokashi and 30% Ferinsa. Parameters observed are hight of plant, the maximum number of tillers, the number of productive tillers, the appearance ofpanicle, panicle length, number of grain per panicle, percentage of of grain pithy and dry weight of grain. The results of observation data were further analyze by Duncan new multiple range test at 5%level.The results showed thatthe composition of bokashi and ferinsa gave  effect on hight of plant, the maximum number of tillers, the number of productive tillers, the appearance of panicle, panicle length, number of grain per panicle, percentage of grain pithy and dry weight of grain. Bokashi fertilizer composition 120 g and ferinsa 30 % is the best treatment to increase the production of upland red rice plants compared to other treatment.   Keywords : Bokashi fertilizer, ferinsa,  red rice plants.

Abstract

This research aims to determine yield ability and fat content of some sorghum varieties with treated by some doses phosphorus fertilizer. This research was conducted from March to August 2014 at the Plant breeding experimental station Faculty of Agriculture Riau University. The experiment has conducted using randomized complete block design (RBD) 3 replications The first factor was the variety type which consist of Kawali, Numbu, Pahat, Mandau. The second factor was Phosphorus fertilizer dose which consists of 3 levels: 45 kg of SP-36/ ha, S2 = 90 kg of SP-36 /ha, S3 = 135 kg of SP-36/ha). Parameters those observed were days to flowering (day), crop age (day), panicle length (cm), seed weight per panicle (g), 1000 seed weight (g), seed weight per m2 and fat content.  The mean separation of analysis of variance was tested using Duncan’s multiple range test at 5%. The result indicates that of Phosphorus fertilizer 90 kg/ha showed the best result at Kawali varieties (8,1 ton/ha), Pahat (8,5 ton/ha) and Mandau (8,7 ton/ha), treated of Phosphorus fertilizer 90 kg/ha showed the best fat content at Numbu varieties (3,35 %) and Pahat (3,18 %).   Keyword: Sorgum bicolor, Phosphorus , Fat content, Yield Ability

Abstract

Agarwood (Aquilaria malaccensis) is one character of forest plants that deliver really good quality with high economic value, because the forest contains a fragrant resin To overcome the scarcity of agarwoodgaharu cultivation needs to be exercised both in the forest or outside the woodland region.Referring to the cultivation of the required quality gaharu seedlings.The means to answer that is by giving PGR.Auxin found in plants are very few in number, and so it should be added exogenous auxin.One of the natural plant growth regulator that can be utilized in breeding agarwood was the juice of the onion. Juice of onion contains growth regulators, which have a role as Indol Acetic Acid. The experimentation was led at the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. The experiment was conducted in December 2013 through the month of April 2014. This research was carried out experiments using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five treatments, Z0: without PGR origin onion, Z1: PGR origin onion 5 ml / l of water, Z2: PGR origin onion 10 ml / l of water, Z3: PGR origin onion 15 ml / l of water and Z4: PGR origin onion 20 ml / l of water. The parameters measured were plant height, in the number of leaves , leaf area , leaf weight , stem circumference , number of branches , root volume , wet weight , dry weight and the ratio of the root crown. Giving PGR on agarwood seeds can increase the value of agarwood seedling growth, as determined in the parameters as height, increase in the number of leaves, leaf area, stem girth, fresh weight and dry weight.Offering a natural PGR derived from the onion with a concentration of 1.5 % and 2 % gave the best seedling growth Keyword : Onion, PGR, seedlings agarwood.

Abstract

The productivity of paddy which decreased influenced by high fertilizer requirements, while the price of inorganic fertilizers more expensive. Alternatif used to obtain an environmentally frriendly fertilization by using endophytic Bacillus sp. bacteria in the form of formulations, so that the Bacillus sp. can last a long time. The study aimed to determine the effect of the Bacillus sp. endophytic bacteria formulated with some waste and get the best formulation towards paddy. The research has been conducted in isolation room in industrial business unit Biofertilizer and Biopesticides and the Experimental Farm of Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau, in November 2015 until March 2016. The research was conducted experimentall using on completely randomized design (CDR) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The data were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance and tested further with Duncan's multiple range test at 5% level. The results showed that giving Bacillus sp. bacteria formulated with sago waste is a formulation which tends best as it can increase the number of tillers total, the percentage of productive tiller, weight of 100 grain pithy, dry grain per panicle and the percentage of grain pithy. Keywords: Endophytic Bacillus sp., formulation, waste, Oryza sativa L.

Abstract

                The purpose of this study is to get the best of rice straw compost and NPK fertilizer on the growth and production of peanuts. This research was conducted at the Faculty of agriculture experiment station, Riau University, Pekanbaru,  over four months from February - June 2016. This study used a completely randomized design factorial consisting of two factors and three replications. The first factor was the rice straw compost (P) consists of four levels: P0 =without rice straw compost, P1 = 7 tons/ha; P2 = 14 tons/ha, and P3 = 21 tons/ha. The second factor was the NPK fertilizer (N), which consists of four levels, namely N0 = withoutNPK fertilizer, N1 = 100 kg/ha, N2 = 200 kg/ha and N3 = 300 kg/ha. The parameter observed were plant height, number of effective nodules, the weight of effective nodules, the amount of flowers, the number of primary branches, number of pithy pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, seed weight per plant, grain weight per m2, weight of 100 seeds. Data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance and Duncan's Multiple Range Test at 5%. Provision of rice straw composts 21 tons/ ha and 200 kg NPK /ha and 300 kg/ha is the best dosing and gave peanut production 141,16 g/m2  (1,41 tons/ha) and 147,48 g/m2                       (1,47 tons/ha).  Key words:Arachis hypogaea L., rice straw compost, fertilizer NPK
