This study aimed to review the urgent of family involvement during the treatment of schizophrenia in health mental services using the Family-Centered Care approach. A systematic review was performed using the population, intervention, comparison, outcome, study design (PICOS) framework within Scopus (27 articles), ProQuest (151 articles), Science Direct (93 articles), EBSCO (124 articles), and Springer (149 articles) published databases in the last five years using the keywords of “Family- Centered Care, nursing, AND Schizophreni*”. The articles were empirical quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods studies published within 2017- 2021 where study participants were clinically diagnosed with schizophrenia and intervention approaches were within the scope of family involvement. Twenty-four articles met the inclusion criteria for review. Evidence supports a professionally engaged relationship between patients, families, and providers with open knowledge exchange, communication, and collaboration. Family-centered care requires empathy, understanding, respect, and empowerment to choose, control decisions, and empower in the treatment of schizophrenia. This study concludes the importance of family involvement in the treatment of schizophrenia from the start. Health care providers help families through the admissions process.

Abstract

Introduction: The family's inability to care for schizophrenic patients can be caused by a lack of self-reflection in the form of self-control over the family's emotional expression, the desire to overcome care problems, and self-evaluation of the care that has been provided. Self-reflection is an inner resource in the family's ability to care for schizophrenia patients. The aim of the research is to describe the ability of family self-reflection to care for schizophrenic patients. Method: The research method uses a quantitative descriptive design using a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 135 families caring for schizophrenia patients was selected using purposive sampling. The variable are the family's self-reflection and ability in caring for schizophrenia patients. Data was collected using questionnaire adapted from the Pearline Mastery Scale (PMS) and then analyzed descriptively. Results: The research results show that family self-reflection abilities are still in the sufficient category in terms of the desire to overcome care problems (54.1%) and self-evaluation of care (64.4%). Conclusions: The family's low self-reflection ability can be improved by providing training and education through counseling.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to explore how age, gender, and emotional intelligence impact emotion regulation in adolescents participating in cyberbullying. A cross-sectional study was conducted in January 2023, involving 108 teenagers selected through purposive sampling. Data, gathered through a demographic questionnaire, Revised Cyberbullying Inventory II, and an emotional intelligence questionnaire, were analyzed using descriptive and multiple regression methods. The findings revealed that age, gender, and emotional intelligence collectively influence situation modification, accounting for a 2.52% impact (p-value=0.024). Emotional intelligence demonstrated effects on both situation modification and attentional deployment in individuals playing the roles of victims and perpetrators (p-value=0.018). In the case of adolescents acting as perpetrators, age, gender, and emotional intelligence collectively exhibited significant influence on attention deployment, contributing to a 9.83% impact (p-value=0.01). For adolescents who abstain from participating, the modulation response is simultaneously affected by age, gender, and emotional intelligence (p-value<0.001), resulting in a 4.44% influence. Notably, age, gender, and emotional intelligence were identified as factors influencing emotion regulation at various stages, depending on whether adolescents played the roles of victims, victims-perpetrators, or perpetrators. it is recommended that mental health nurses implement tailored emotion regulation interventions for adolescents involved in cyberbullying.

Abstract

Family-centered care (FCC), which emphasizes the involvement of family members as active participants in the care process, represents a significant paradigm within the realm of stroke rehabilitation. This study aimed to locate and synthesize the most recent evidence concerning the advantages, methodologies, and obstacles associated with the integration of FCC in stroke rehabilitation. The approach taken involves conducting an integrative literature review following the guidelines set forth by Whittemore and Knafl. A thorough exploration of four databases including PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, and PsycINFO, was carried out, focusing on both quantitative and qualitative studies published between January 2012 and December 2022. Inclusion criteria comprised studies involving adult stroke patients undergoing rehabilitation, detailing family-centered interventions, and presenting outcomes for either the patients or their families. Upon the screening process, 25 studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in the analysis. Various strategies have been identified to effectively involve families in the rehabilitation process, such as educational initiatives, collaborative planning for home-based care, and provision of support for caregivers. However, the implementation of FCC faces challenges stemming from factors at the system level, provider level, and patient/family level, in conclusion, the integration of FCC in stroke rehabilitation yields substantial benefits for both patients and caregivers. It is imperative for nurses to engage families as collaborative partners, tailor interventions according to specific requirements, offer assistance to caregivers, and instigate changes at the systemic level.

Abstract

Background: The low performance of nurses' services is a hotly discussed problem with several complaints from patients as health service users. Many factors affect the performance of excellent service both internally and externally. Purpose: to analyze the determinants of what factors support nurses in performing excellent service performance. Methods: quantitative design with cross-sectional approach. The sample size was 87 nurses from the entire population with D3 and NERS education, at least 6 months working in 6 surgical medical rooms with total sampling technique. The measurement instrument is a checklist and questionnaire consisting of statement items with 4 Likert scales. Validity and reliability tests on 30 respondents, the results r count> r table 0.361 with Cronbach alpha> 0.6. Descriptive, Pearson product-moment correlation and logistic regression were used to analyze the data with α=0.05. Results: The variables of perception of workload (p=0.004; Exp (B)=4.591), perception of leadership (p=0.012; Exp (B)=3.729), and motivation (p=0.018; Exp (B)=3.579) simultaneously affect the performance of excellent service by 33.5%. Conclusion: The determinant factor of nurses' excellent service performance is workload. Efforts are needed to increase work motivation, through suitability of salary/benefits received, positive policies from management, supervision, human relations, working conditions, and good organizational culture.

Abstract

Introduction: Dementia significantly impacts elderly quality of life, necessitating innovative non-pharmacological approaches. This study aimed to identify key design elements for multisensory environments integrated with reminiscence therapy in Indonesian contexts. Methods: This qualitative study used an exploratory descriptive design through focus group discussions with 10 elderly participants, 2 family caregivers, and 5 healthcare professionals. Participants were selected through purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria established for this research protocol. Data were analyzed using Braun and Clarke's six-phase thematic analysis framework to identify key patterns related to the development of multisensory environments. Results: This study revealed five main themes from a comprehensive data analysis of therapeutic environments for the Indonesian population. These themes are: 1) the importance of positive reminiscence triggers to effectively stimulate memory, 2) the personal space requirements for comfort and safety as essential environmental design considerations, 3) the need for multisensory integration as a critical component of therapeutic environmental interventions, 4) the vital role of family support and communication strategies in a comprehensive care approach, and 5) the relevance of cultural and spiritual considerations in design to provide contextual meaning. Conclusion: The development of Harmony multisensory spaces should integrate reminiscence therapy principles with personalized design elements, emphasizing safety parameters, comfort metrics, and cultural sensitivity to effectively improve the quality of life for elderly individuals with dementia. Implementation requires multidisciplinary collaboration between healthcare professionals, designers, and family caregivers to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
