Abstract

One factorthat can influence learning achievement is the quality ofthe teaching-learning process designed by the teacher and implemented in class. To improve that quality, the teacher should increase students' active involvement in th,at process. One way to encourage students to be actively involved in it is providing them with a resume. The fimction ofaresume provided as a strategy oforganizing the teaching is to provide briefstatements about the main ideas ofthe contents ofthe teaching material being learned, together with easily remembered examples to refer to. The facts show that very many students are still low in level in their learning achievement. One strategy to remedy the situation is providing a resume. Four important points to consider in providing a resume in the teaching-learning process are information processing, cognitive structure, schemata, and the process ofmemorization. The resume will cause the contents ofthe teaching material to become more immediately meaningful to students. The main ideas slated in the resume can more easily guide students to the contents to be learned. In applying the concept of meaningful learning, cognitive structure and items of new knowledge play very important parts. Cognitive structure refers to all Imowledge already possessed by students as a result ofpast learning activity while items ofnew knowledge refer to those being learned by students. Key words: resume, teaching, learning process

Abstract

This study explores the social discrimination faced by former prisoners in Wonomulyo, Sulawesi Barat, and its impact on their reintegration into society. Social discrimination, fueled by negative perceptions and deep-rooted stereotypes, significantly hinders the ability of former inmates to adapt and contribute positively to their communities. The research highlights how local cultural norms, which emphasize social harmony and moral values, exacerbate the stigma attached to former prisoners, viewing them as threats to the community's well-being. The study reveals that this discrimination not only affects the individuals but also extends to their families, further isolating them from society. The findings also show that lack of societal understanding about the importance of reintegration, coupled with inadequate systemic support, creates barriers for former prisoners to access employment, build relationships, and regain self-esteem. The research concludes that a holistic approach is needed, involving community education, inclusive policies, and empowerment programs, to address the discrimination and support the successful reintegration of former prisoners. Such efforts will help shift the social construct from one of exclusion to one of acceptance and opportunity.

Abstract

For fresh graduates it is not easy to get a job, because the number of undergraduate graduates is increasing every year, but the available job vacancies are not proportional to the number of graduates currently available. One of the processes of developing and improving the competence of fresh graduates can be done by carrying out training activities. Through participation in training, fresh graduates are able to improve their competence in construction work, especially road maintenance. The type of research used is quantitative research with One Group pre test - post test design. In this model there is one class given treatment and then the process and results are observed. The research instrument used was a road maintenance learning outcomes test instrument for fresh graduates of the Civil Engineering study programme. The test was conducted at the beginning of the meeting (pre test) and the end of the meeting (post test). The research analysis used N-Gain score. Based on the pre-test and post-test scores of the road maintenance training, there was a significant increase in the average score of the participants. During the pre-test, the minimum score obtained by participants was 42 and the maximum was 75, with an average score of 60 and a standard deviation of 9.72. The post test results showed a positive increase in participants' achievements. The minimum score on the post test was 83 and the maximum score was 100, with an average score of 89 and a standard deviation of 4.7. This indicates that the training was successful in significantly improving participants' competencies, with a difference between the mean pre and post test scores of 29 points. The average N-gain for all participants was 0.7, which falls into the high improvement category. This shows that the training was effective in improving the overall competence of the participants, with a visible impact on the improvement of their scores after the training.

Abstract

The need for more public knowledge about using local materials encourages an educational approach to introduce sediment as an alternative material for construction materials, either as a substitute for clay in making bricks or as a filling material. This study aims to analyze the needs of the Ilohungayo Village community regarding educational models that can improve their understanding and skills in utilizing dredged sediment from Lake Limboto, as well as evaluating its potential use as an alternative material for basic brick materials and other construction materials. The method used is a preliminary study with a quantitative descriptive approach. The study results showed that only 18.33% of respondents knew or had used sediment, while 81.67% needed to learn sediment utilization. The low utilization of sediment is due to the need for more knowledge and training in the community.

Abstract

Occupational safety and health (OSH) practices and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) are crucial for ensuring the well-being of workers and students in civil engineering laboratories. This study investigates the development and implementation of OSH practices with JSA in civil engineering laboratories to enhance safety performance and reduce accident risks. The research draws insights from various industrial settings, including construction and manufacturing, where JSA has been widely applied to identify and mitigate potential hazards. The study highlights the unique challenges faced by civil engineering laboratories, such as constantly changing physical environments and the presence of specific hazards related to experiments and tests. To address these challenges, the study proposes the integration of JSA into OSH frameworks, adapting methods like the Construction Job Safety Analysis (CJSA) to suit the dynamic nature of laboratory work. The research also emphasizes the importance of fostering a strong safety culture through employee awareness, training, and the use of innovative approaches like virtual reality (VR) in OSH education. By combining JSA techniques with comprehensive OSH initiatives, the study aims to improve hazard identification, risk assessment, and worker engagement in civil engineering laboratories. While the specific impact of integrating JSA into OSH practices on safety performance in civil engineering laboratories requires further research, the available literature suggests that such an approach can potentially enhance safety outcomes by establishing effective hazard control measures and promoting a proactive safety culture.

Abstract

The high sensitivity of investors to stock trading activities raises concerns that more and more investors are at risk of not understanding when is the right time to sell and buy stocks. This study introduces a new approach to comprehensively examine how male and female investors in Indonesia make better and more informed decisions by utilizing their understanding in the context of the digital era, especially during bearish and bullish markets. The central role of Gender will play an important role in facilitating the relationship between digital stock trading literacy and capital market discipline. An empirical online survey with a sample of 343 respondents in Indonesia is used as valid data in this study. Using the PLS-MGA model, our findings show the moderating role of Gender significantly found that digital stock trading literacy is able to influence market discipline in male and female investor groups, although male investors show a stronger influence than female investors. Male investors who have higher levels of digital stock trading literacy tend to be more disciplined in the market, while female investors, despite having high literacy, do not show the same market discipline due to other influencing factors
