Abstract

This study aims to explore the stereotypical representation of male masculinity in interclass relations shown in Total Care advertisements. This topic was chosen because advertisements have a significant impact on people's perceptions of gender and social class. The research method used was to collect data from various Total Care advertisements aired in the mass media and conduct qualitative analysis with a semiotic approach. The research shows that these advertisements tend to portray strong and dominant masculinity, with male characters portrayed as protectors and providers. In addition, there is a difference in representation between upper-class men and lower-class men, where upper-class men are often depicted in the context of power and success, while lower-class men are often depicted in the context of weakness and dependence. The conclusion of this study confirms that Total Care advertisements not only reflect stereotypes of masculinity, but also reinforce power relations between social classes. This research is important to understand how the media contributes to the formation of gender and class identities in society. This research is also expected to be a reference for further research on the influence of media on gender and social class perceptions.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tren penelitian tentang digital advertising agency dalam literatur ilmiah global. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis bibliometrik terhadap metadata publikasi yang diperoleh dari database Scopus selama periode 2019 hingga 2024. Data yang dianalisis mencakup 344 dokumen ilmiah yang kemudian diolah dengan perangkat lunak VOSviewer untuk memvisualisasikan jaringan kata kunci, distribusi jurnal, penulis, serta topik utama yang diteliti. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penelitian bertema digital advertising agency mengalami perkembangan yang dinamis dengan puncak publikasi pada tahun 2024. Topik yang paling dominan adalah peran perusahaan dalam industri periklanan digital, yang tercermin dari kemunculan kata kunci “company” sebagai node terbesar dalam visualisasi bibliometrik. Selain itu, isu-isu terkait strategi industri, metode penelitian seperti survei dan analisis konten, serta aspek hubungan sosial dan teknologi juga menempati posisi penting. Visualisasi overlay menunjukkan munculnya topik-topik baru seperti framework, creativity, dan transformation sebagai arah tren penelitian masa depan. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting dalam memetakan lanskap riset digital advertising agency dan dapat dijadikan pijakan untuk penelitian lanjutan dalam bidang komunikasi pemasaran digital.

Abstract

 This research aims to review the ethical and legal aspects of broadcast media in the talk show program “Brownies” on Trans TV. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data was obtained through observation of television programs based on the Broadcasting Code of Conduct and Broadcast Program Standards (P3SPS). The results showed that the violation of the R-classified program contained scenes that were not in accordance with the classification provisions. This has an impact on audience to do or justify inappropriate behavior for audience who lack education.

Abstract

This study seeks to examine ethical breaches in advertising inside online gambling promotions on live streaming platforms and football posters. This study employs a qualitative descriptive research method. The data collecting involved the documentation of live streaming platforms and football match advertisements. The gathered data was examined through the lens of diverse ethical theories and advertising restrictions. This study determined that online gambling advertisements sent via live streaming platforms and football match posters distinctly contravene advertising ethical standards and regulatory rules in Indonesia. These advertising manipulate the audience's psychological vulnerabilities by deceptive persuasive techniques, including promises of substantial profits, the employment of popular symbols, and promotions including little starting prices. Advertisements are disseminated in media readily accessible to vulnerable populations, including children and adolescents, devoid of age limitations or risk warnings, so undermining the principle of social responsibility in communication ethics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh maraknya representasi stereotip perempuan dalam media, khususnya film, yang mengukuhkan budaya patriarki. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis bagaimana film Tuhan Izinkan Aku Berdosa merepresentasikan perlawanan terhadap stereotip perempuan dalam konteks sosial budaya Indonesia. Teori semiotika Roland Barthes digunakan sebagai landasan teoritik untuk mengkaji tanda-tanda berupa denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos yang muncul dalam film serta bagaimana makna tersebut dikonstruksi dalam narasi visual. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik analisis semiotika, observasi non-partisipan terhadap adegan-adegan terpilih, dan studi pustaka. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa film tersebut secara kuat menghadirkan simbol perlawanan terhadap kekerasan berbasis gender, otoritas patriarki, serta normalisasi pelecehan seksual. Melalui karakter Kiran, film menampilkan agen perempuan yang kritis, berani, dan mampu menantang sistem opresif. Hasil ini menunjukkan hubungan antara struktur kekuasaan patriarki dan representasi perempuan dalam media. Film ini tidak hanya mencerminkan ketimpangan gender, namun juga mendekonstruksi mitos sosial melalui pesan feminisme radikal dan feminisme gelombang ketiga, yang menjadi strategi komunikasi efektif dalam mendorong kesetaraan gender.

Abstract

Digital advertisements often serve as a medium for reproducing gender stereotypes and hidden patriarchal power relations. This research aims to explore the representation of gender stereotypes and patriarchal culture in MR.DIY Indonesia advertisements titled "Urusan Berbenah Jadi Mudah" and "Urusan Lebaran Jadi Mudah" through semiotic analysis. Using a qualitative approach and Roland Barthes' orders of significance theory framework, the research dissects the hidden mechanisms behind the construction of meaning in both advertisements. The research findings reveal that gender stereotypes and patriarchal dominance do not disappear, but rather transform into more subtle and disguised forms of representation. Advertisements do not merely showcase products, but present social narratives that perpetuate traditional gender hierarchies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze violations of advertising ethics in the form of superlative claims used in Azarine Kids, Ichitan, Le Minerale, SGM, and Zwitsal advertisements broadcast on YouTube. Superlative claims are often used to attract consumers’ attention by stating product superiority excessively, without any evidence that can be accounted for. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection through observation and documentation of advertisements. The results of the study indicate that the five advertisements violate the Indonesian Advertising Ethics, especially in the article regulating the use of superlative claims. These violations have the potential to mislead consumers, harm competitors, and reduce public trust in the brand. In addition, the lack of supporting evidence in the claims indicates a non-compliance with ethical standards and advertising regulations.

Abstract

Advertising cannot be separated from the legal order agreed upon by all parties, in this case the Indonesian Advertising Ethics plays an important role in advertising references. This research describes the Indonesian Advertising Ethics Violations in the non-premium Spotify Night Lentera and Tomorrow Morning Advertisements through a qualitative descriptive approach to answer the problem statement. The qualitative descriptive approach is a scientific research method that aims to obtain an in-depth understanding of a particular phenomenon, event or problem. As advertising is regulated by Indonesian advertising ethics, it was found that there was a discrepancy between the content of the advertisement and the EPI guidelines, researchers found frightening narratives that were concretely violated by users of Lentera Malam and Besok Pagi. It is written in one of the articles in the EPI that advertising must not cause or play on fear.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the ethical violations in advertising that occur in Blibli and Gojek YouTube ads. This research is using a qualitative descriptive method to answer the problem formulation, namely how violations of the Indonesian Advertising Ethics can occur in Blibli and Gojek ads. Qualitative research is a form of research to gain a deeper understanding of the problem phenomena. The findings of this research indicate that there are violations in Blibli and Gojek ads through the use of superlative words, particularly in statements such as "Definitely Free Shipping" and "Most Economical." Therefore, this research provides an in-depth understanding of the importance of tighter supervision and control over ethical violations in advertising to avoid actions that are not in accordance with Indonesian Advertising Ethics regulations.

Abstract

Advertising as a form of promotion or as a visual aid in introducing 2024 election candidates to the publik through billboards, posters and several other visual aids. Bawaslu and EPI are the institutions that regulate policies in the campaign leading up to the election so that everything can run smoothly in accordance with applicable regulations. Several election candidates ignored the rules from Bawaslu and EPI in carrying out campaigns using poster advertisements, such as inappropriate placement of posters, excessive number of posters, and several other rules. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative by understanding a phenomenon that is occurring. The data collection technique used in this research was observation of Griya's external advertisements related to the 2024 election taken from mass media pages. The research results show that even though there are regulations from Bawaslu and EPI in setting rules during the campaign leading up to the 2024 elections, many election candidates do not comply with them properly. The existence of rules that are not obeyed by election candidates has a negative impact on the environment and society, one of which is a vocational school student who had an accident due to a poster on the main road suddenly falling, causing the vocational school student to die.
