Abstract

AbstractThe Banyuwangi Regency Government, through the Livestock Service Office, is very active in improving the community's economic level through the livestock sector. It is proven through a variety of dynamic population numbers in 2014 namely, 108,139 beef cattle. For this reason, it is necessary to get broad attention in terms of increasing the productivity of livestock. The success of increasing livestock productivity is determined by the factors of seed, feed, and management, while the largest component, which is 70%, comes from the feed factor. So far, it is rarely known that forage feed or additional feed in the form of tofu dregs or concentrate, is not completely digested in the small intestine but only about 60-70%, while the rest is excreted through feces and urine. For this reason, it is necessary to provide feed supplementation in the form of probiotics for ruminants containing several non-pathogenic microorganisms (bacteria) that can help increase feed digestibility. Probiotics can be defined as food supplements containing live microbes that have a beneficial effect on animals as their host through improving the balance of microflora in the digestive tract. Community service activities that have been carried out include the provision of probiotics for ruminants which are given directly to farmers by visiting the location of the beef cattle pen. The community service program is carried out for 5 months including counseling, training, evaluation, and cadre development. It can be concluded that there is an increase in cognitive, affective, psychomotor and substance aspects in the partner community.Keywords: beef cattle; Wongsorejo; Gombengsari; Banyuwangi AbstrakPemerintah Kabupaten Banyuwangi, melalui Dinas Peternakan sangat gencar dalam meningkatkan taraf perekonomian masyarakat melalui sektor peternakan. Terbukti melalui beragam jumlah populasi dinamis pada tahun 2014 yakni, sapi potong 108.139 ekor. Untuk itu perlu mendapat perhatian yang luas dalam hal peningkatan  produktivitas hewan ternak. Keberhasilan peningkatan  produktivitas peternakan ditentukan oleh faktor bibit, pakan dan pengelolaan, sedangkan komponen terbesar yaitu sebesar 70 % berasal dari faktor pakan. Selama ini jarang diketahui  bahwa pakan hijauan maupun pakan tambahan berupa ampas tahu atau konsentrat, tidak seluruhnya dicerna dalam usus halus melainkan hanya sekitar 60-70 %,sedangkan yang sisanya dibuang lewat feses dan urine. Untuk itu  perlu dilakukan pemberian suplementasi pakan berupa pro biotik untuk Ruminan yang mengandung beberapa mikroorganisme (bakteri) non patogen yang mampu membantu peningkatan kecernaan pakan. Probiotik dapat didefinisikan sebagai suplemen makanan yang mengandung mikrobial hidup menimbulkan efek menguntungkan hewan sebagai induk semangnya melalui peningkatan  keseimbangan mikroflora di dalam saluran pencernaan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang telah dilakukan meliputi pemberian probiotik untuk ruminan yang diberikan secara langsung kepada peternak dengan mendatangi lokasi kandang sapi pedaging. Program pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan selama 5 bulan meliputi penyuluhan, pelatihan, evaluasi, dan pembinaan kader. Dapat disimpulkan terdapat peningkatan aspek kognitif, afektif, psikomotor dan substansi pada masyarakat mitra.Kata kunci: sapi potong; Wongsorejo; Gombengsari; Banyuwangi

Abstract

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease that occurs globally. Leptospires are transmitted through the urine of infected mice, through injured skin or mucosal invasion. Infection can occur through direct contact or through contact with contaminated water or soil. This qualitative research uses a combination of epidemiological studies with a case study approach. Rat urine metabolism samples will be tested by testing the base pair chain through the Polymerase Chain Reaction method for leptospirosis. Electrophoresis results showed 5% percent of positive samples with 330 bp. The conclusion of this study, the molecular identification of leptospirosis from rat urine using the Polymerase Chain Reaction technique are found positive results so prevention is needed to control the distribution of pathogenic leptospirosis bacteria. Urban rats (Rattus rattus) in leptospirosis transmission are considered as the most important leptospira reservoir, because high population densities of this species can cause an increase in the spread of leptospirosis. Keywords: Banyuwangi, Leptospirosis, Urban rats, Zoonosis

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi perbandingan komposisi jantan dan betina ayam broiler strain Lohman Broder MB202 dalam satu kandang terhadap konsumsi pakan, bobot badan, dan konversi pakan. Sebanyak 40 ekor ayam broiler masing-masing 20 jantan dan 20 betina digunakan dalam penelitian kali ini selanjutnya dibagi menjadi lima kelompok (P1, P2, P3, P4, P5). Semua kelompok perlakuan dipelihara secara intensif, diberi pakan, minum ad libitum dan vaksin terjadwal selama 35 hari. Data dianalisis dengan univariate ANOVA dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Post Hoc Tukey dengan nilai signifikansi 95%. Konsumsi dan konversi pakan menunjukkan perbedaan nyata pada kelompok P1 dan P4 dibandingkan kelompok P2, P3 dan P5. Pertambahan bobot badan juga tampak signifikan pada kelompok P1 dan P4 hari ke 5–6 atau hari ke 25–30 dan hari ke 1–35. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa perbandingan jumlah pengaturan broiler jantan dan betina dalam satu kandang berpengaruh terhadap performa ayam broiler. Perbandingan terbaik ditunjukkan pada rasio jantan dan betina P1 (8:0) atau P4 (6:2).

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji pengaturan seksing komposisi jantan dan betina pada ayam broiler masa rearing pada variabel pertambahan bobot badan, konsumsi dan konversi pakan. Sebanyak 40 ekor ayam broiler digunakan dalam penelitian dibagi menjadi lima kelompok perlakuan dengan masing-masing 8 ulangan komposisi jantan:betina, yakni (P1) 8:0, (P2) 2:6, (P3) 4:4, (P4) 6:2, dan (P5) 0:8. Semua kelompok perlakuan dipelihara selama masa rearing hingga usia panen 35 hari. Pertambahan bobot badan dan konsumsi pakan dihitung harian dengan timbangan analitik dilanjutkan perhitungan konversi pakan. Data yang didapat selanjutnya dianalisis dengan ANOVA univariate dan dilanjutkan dengan uji post-hoc Duncan (p<0,05). Hasil mengungkap konsumsi pakan (0,041) dan konversi pakan (0,041) pada kelompok P1 dan P4 meningkat signifikan dibandingkan kelompok P2, P3, dan P5. Sementara itu, pertambahan bobot minggu ke 5-6 pada kelompok P1, P3, dan P4 terungkap meningkat signifikan dibandingkan kelompok P2 dan P5. Kesimpulannya, perbandingan jantan:betina (8:0) dan (6:2) menunjukkan performa yang signifikan pada aspek pertambahan bobot badan, konsumsi dan konversi pakan.

Abstract

The potential of Pulau Santen, which has been known as a tourism beach, is increasingly visible with the large amount of infrastructure and tourism built by the local government. This was done as an effort to promote Pulau Santen as one of the best natural tourism centers in Banyuwangi. The community in Pulau Santen must be prepared as a group that is aware of the potential of their village and the sustainability of its natural tourism. Pulau Santen is also categorized as a location which every year frequently used for sea turtle nests that land on the Banyuwangi coastal areas. This is actually very contrary to the natural habits of sea turtles which prefer to make nests in quiet places without any disturbance from sound, light, and humans. Because the place used as a natural nest is a busy tourist spot, local residents must also be given insight regarding the protection of sea turtles that land on the coast of Pulau Santen as one of the wild animals protected by the Conservation Law in Indonesia. The purpose of this activity is to strengthen the awareness of Pulau Santen tourism awareness groups regarding the important role of communities around the coast to participate in wildlife conservation and their ecosystems. Through the community service activities that have been carried out, the sustainability of the program is needed so that a model of a conservation education tourist spot is formed that has the potential to improve the economy of the surrounding communities and the conservation of biodiversity in the area.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of administration robusta coffee extract as an antioxidant on the renal histopathology in mice exposed to monosodium glutamate (MSG) orally. This study used 20 adult male rats with Balb C strain divided into 5 experimental groups, namely K + (MSG 0.12 mg / head and Vitamin C 6 mg/mice), K- (MSG 0.12 mg/mice and Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC Na) 0,1 ml/mice), P1 (MSG 0.12 mg/mice and Robusta coffee extract 0.1 mg/mice), P2 (MSG 0.12 mg/mice and Robusta coffee extract 0.2 mg/mice), and P3 (MSG 0.12 mg/mice and 0.4 mg Robusta coffee extract mg/mice). The experimental group was treated every day at intervals between MSG and Vitamin C, CMC Na, and Robusta coffee extract for 60 min, the treatment was carried out for 42 days. Kidney histopathology scores were analyzed using the Saphiro-Wilk and Levene test to evaluate homogeneity, followed by the Kruskal Wallis test. The results of the Saphiro Wilk and Levene statistical analysis obtained p<0.05, thus the data continued with the Kruskal Wallis test scores of kidney cell damage obtained 0.043 which showed that the data were significant. The mean score of kidney cell damage in the treatment groups was K+ 1.60; K- 1.63; P1 1.70; P2 1.63; and P3 1.73. The conclusion is that Robusta coffee bean extract did not show a decrease in kidney cell damage that was different between treatment groups. Further research is needed to find out about the effect of different dosages of Robusta Coffee Extract to different organs

Abstract

Luka eksisi adalah luka yang disebabkan akibat terpotongnya jaringan oleh benda yang tajam (Partogi, 2008). Kitosan mampu sebagai zat dalam penyembuhan luka salah satunya dalam proses angiogenesis. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui efektivitas salep kitosan dari limbah kulit udang terhadap angiogenesis dalam penyembuhan luka eksisi pada tikus putih jantan. Sebanyak dua puluh ekor tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) jantan dibagi ke dalam lima kelompok perlakuan yaitu K+ luka eksisi dengan pemberian povidone iodine, K- luka eksisi dengan pemberian salep tanpa kitosan, P1 luka eksisi dengan pemberian salep kitosan 1,5%, P2 luka eksisi dengan pemberian salep 2,5% dan P3 luka eksisi dengan pemberian salep kitosan. Terapi diberikan sehari sekali selama tujuh hari. Hasil data rata-rata jumlah pembuluh darah baru dianalisis dengan uji Anova yang menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan (p<0,05) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji LSD (Least Significant Differences). Kelompok P1 dan P2 tidak memiliki perbedaan yang nyata, tetapi berbeda nyata dengan kelompok K+, K- dan P3. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini kitosan efektif dalam meningkatkan jumlah pembuluh darah baru pada proses penyembuhan luka eksisi.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the comparative of histological figures in Clarias gariepinus and Oreochromis niloticus skin. A total of 18 samples were observed and collected the skin preservation. The hematoxylin-eosin staining performed to determine the histological structure. Results showed that there were different structures in the epidermis and dermis layer between C. gariepinus and O. niloticus skin. Club cells showed dominated in the epidermis layer of C. gariepinus. The pigmented cell showed clearly in the basement layer of C. gariepinus compared to O. niloticus. Stratum compactum in O. niloticus also showed adequate compared to C. gariepinus.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the administration of white guava (Psidium guajava L.) fruit juice on spermatozoa plasma membrane integrity (PMI), morphological abnormality, viability, and motility of lead acetate induced rats (Rattus norvegicus). Twenty-five male rats were divided into five groups: NC (negative control) group, rats were administered with distilled water twice daily at four-hour intervals; T0 (positive control) group, rats were administered daily with lead acetate 50 mg/kg bw and distilled water four hours later; T1, T2, and T3 groups, rats were administered daily with lead acetate 50 mg/kg bw and 0.5 mL of 25, 50, and 100% white guava fruit juice four hours later. The treatment of the rats was conducted for 14 days, and on day 15, all rats were sacrificed to assess the spermatozoa quality. Data was analyzed using ANOVA followed by Duncan's multiple range test at a confidence level of 95%. The results showed that exposure to lead acetate (T0) caused lower spermatozoa PMI, viability, and motility as well as higher spermatozoa morphological abnormalities (p <0.05) compared to those of the T0 group. Administration of white guava fruit juice starting at a dose of 25% (T1) resulted in higher spermatozoa motility, viability, and PMI as well as lower spermatozoa morphological abnormalities (p <0.05) compared to rats in the T0 group. It could be concluded that white guava fruit juice maintained the spermatozoa quality of lead acetate induced rats.
