Abstract

This study aims to: 1) identify factors that can facilitate the occurrence of spatial synergism in tourism villages, and 2) find and determine the level of undesirable conditions and conditions expected from spatial synergism in tourism villages. Research data were collected using in-depth interviews and using nominal group technique (NGT. Key informants are 5 people and respondents are 15 people determined based on purposive sampling. All data were analyzed with a qualitative analysis approach. The results of the study found that the historical similarity factor, the proximity factor, the hereditary similarity factor, the solidarity factor, the potential similarity factor, and the problem similarity factor are factors that influence the occurrence of spatial synergism in tourism villages. In addition, it was also found that the level of conditions expected from the spatial synergy of tourism villages is to have one plan, one region, one organization, one regulation, and one management. While the level of conditions that are not desirable from the spatial synergism of the tourism village is that it does not have planning (spatial and non-spatial) and professional managers or institutions, sectoral egos appear and discriminatory treatment, disrupts or limit local community activities and culture, does not involve the role of Penta helix tourism actors, carrying out unfair competition in tourism promotion and not using digital technology. This study suggests that a more in-depth study is carried out regarding spatial synergism, especially the process of spatial synergism.

Abstract

The limited availability of land in major cities like DKI Jakarta, Surabaya, and Denpasar City has forced residents to compromise on ideal settlement locations, leading to a switch in land use patterns. Failure to secure ideal locations exacerbates settlement issues, ultimately contributing to the proliferation of urban slums. Denpasar City, in particular, grapples with various problems stemming from slum growth. As part of its responsibilities in urban development, the government is tasked with providing public services, safeguarding low-income communities, promoting regional growth, ensuring environmental sustainability, and upholding national integrity. However, the phenomenon of migrant influx in Denpasar City presents an additional challenge for governance. Traditional villages play a pivotal role in managing migrant populations by leveraging pecalang (traditional Balinese security forces) and customary rules to maintain community cohesion. To effectively address slum proliferation, customary villages must align their development goals and strategies. This qualitative research utilizes primary and secondary data to explore the role of institutions in slum management. Despite various programs aimed at mitigating urban challenges, the effectiveness of institutions like the PKP Working Group and DLHK remains suboptimal. Therefore, there is a pressing need for customary villages to play a more active role in tackling slum issues within their jurisdictions.

Abstract

Many people can not live in a house with a quality environment that is livable. The main problem that becomes an obstacle is the economic factor, namely poverty. The poor are forced to live in a bad environment or can live in a good environment but cannot maintain it. The inability of the poor to set aside income to finance environmental maintenance is the main cause of continued environmental degradation. In addition to the problem of poverty, the availability of land is increasingly unable to accommodate population growth, resulting in an environment with a high population density. This problem is very common in settlements in coastal areas. Therefore, research on coastal areas, especially residential areas, is important to do. The purpose of this study was to determine the cause of the decline in the quality of the settlement environment by using the Kumba fisherman settlement as the research location. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with multiple linear regression analysis. Where, the independent variables are poverty and population density, while the dependent variable is environmental quality. From this study, it was found that the poverty factor with several indicators had a significant effect on environmental quality. The comparison of the amount of agricultural land to the population has a significant effect on environmental quality, beating the value of population density which compares the total land area with the total population. This shows the large role of open land used by agricultural activities on the quality of the residential environment.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the driving factors and inhibiting factors for the transformation of Balinese Traditional Architecture (ATB) designs in tourism facilities in Denpasar and Badung. Through a questionnaire as many as 48 samples from Architects working in Denpasar and Badung were analyzed through IFAS and EFAS and the Internal External Matrix, the general positions and strategies were obtained. The results of the study show that the main strength of internal factors is the existence of Provincial and Denpasar Regional Regulations regarding building layout which is a very meaningful back-up for implementing Balinese-style designs in tourist facilities. Meanwhile, the main driving factor from external factors is the development of tourism in Bali which is quite large. In this way, in the future, a mutually beneficial relationship will be created between Balinese Architecture and Tourism.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the tourism potential of the islands in Tanakeke, Takalar Regency which is located in the southern part of South Sulawesi with the framing of Natural, Cultural and Artificial (ABB) tourism. The research method used was qualitative with a descriptive approach. The research was conducted by means of: observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that there were 3 (three) indicators of tourism potential identification including: (1) Identification of natural tourism potential (beaches, seas, lakes, fisheries, ponds, seagrass beds, mangrove forests, plantations / fields, farms, coral reefs, and seaweed). Various types of natural tourism potential that exist and are scattered in almost all areas of the Tanakeke islands are a great potential as a basis for the development of various types of tourism activities both natural tourism, water tourism, educational tourism, agro-tourism to sports tourism; (2) Identification of cultural tourism potential (arts, traditions, crafts, livelihoods, culinary, cultural festivals, historic buildings / buildings, historical relics, traditional equipment & technology systems, and other cultural elements). Various types of cultural tourism potential that exist and are scattered in almost all areas of the Tanakeke islands are a great potential as a basis for the development of various types of tourism activities both historical tourism, cultural tourism, culinary, to events and festivals; (3) Identification of artificial tourism potential of all things created by humans by utilizing the potential of nature or the surrounding environment, for the purpose of recreation and entertainment as well as adding to the travel experience. After identifying tourism potential properly through ABB tourism framing, this can be used as a basis for managing and developing various types of tourism. In terms of management, coordination should be carried out with various parties and related stakeholders to provide basic knowledge about tourism for all villagers on the Tanakeke islands which can then be followed up by providing further action in the form of assistance by providing education, training, skills development for villagers.

Abstract

The research aimed at developing new structured internship model for tourism vocational schools in Bali as the current internship was lacking organized internship journey due to the absence of structured training plan. This was qualitative research in which data were collected through interviews with 21 informants from hospitality industries in Badung Regency and three representative of tourism vocational schools in Bai. Data were analyzed qualitatively as well. The research developed a New Internship Model consisting of eight stages; partnership, students pre- assessment, pre-placement, initiation, working, monitoring, termination, and feedback & evaluation. The model is a refinement of Kisser (2011) model which is only focused on five stages. Through structured stages, from preparation to final evaluation, this model helps students gain practical experience tailored to the needs of the tourism industry.
