Abstract

Metal welding by the welding method has weaknesses including the decrease in strength of the material and the results of residual stress, as well as the presence of cracks due to the welding process. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of variations in the diameter of the electrode E7018 to tensile strength, hardness, and microstructure on alloysteel SS400 before (raw material) and after welding using welding methodes Shileded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) methode. This research uses experimental methode. Technique of data analysis used is the comparative descriptive. Based on the results of the reseach, it can be conclude that the result of the micro structure test showed an inrease perlit structure after welding. On raw material, ferrit structure looks prevalent but on welding result using SMAW welding methods with the variation in the diameter of the electrode 2.6 mm, 3.2 mm, and 4.0 mm showed that the ferrit decreases on each specimen, so the perlite structure is very dominating. Value of tensile strength on the welding result showed a difference in tension and strain. Specimen with a diameter of electrode 4.0 mm have a higher tension level and strain is 471.11 MPa and 24.98% if compared to the electrode diameter 3.2 mm specimen is 470.15 MPa and 24.81%, and the electrode diameter 2.6 mm is 462.42 MPa and 20.57%. This research shows that the welding using diameter variation of electrode changed value of the tensile strength, micro structure and effected on the value of hardness alloy Steel SS400.

Abstract

The technological development of the automotive sector is increasing, every year there is an increase in the production of motor vehicles in Indonesia. The increase in motorized vehicles will certainly have an impact on the use of fuel oil which is also increasing. Though fuel oil is a non-renewable fossil fuel, so that continuous use can lead to scarcity of fossil fuels someday. In addition to causing scarcity of fossil fuels, the increasing number of vehicles will also cause the surrounding environment to be increasingly polluted by the exhaust emissions from the combustion process of the motorized vehicles. Various alternatives are used as a mixture of fuels to reduce fuel consumption and vehicle exhaust emissions, such as ethanol, hydrogen, butanol, biodiesel, methanol etc. The purpose of this literacy study was to determine the effect of using ethanol on fuel consumption and its economic value. Based on the results of a study of literacy is known that the addition of ethanol does reduce the level of fuel consumption, However, if viewed from an economic perspective, the addition of ethanol has actually caused the purchase price of fuel to increase, this will certainly hinder the growth of the desire to use ethanol as an alternative source of fuel substitute by the people of Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims at finding out (1) quadrant position of each study program in the departement Ex Schools of Language and Arts Education (PBS) FKIP UNS using SWOT analysis method. (2) strategic planning study program of Javanese Language Eduction in the Departement of Ex Schools of Language and Arts Education (PBS) FKIP UNS development efforts study program by using the SWOT method.The results of research show that : (1) quadrant position of Education of Visual Arts Study Program and Language and Literature of Indonesia Studies Program are located in quadrant I (strength-opportunity). Javanese Education Studies Program and English Education Study Program are located in quadrant II (strength-treath). (2) Strategic planning that can be applied to the Javanese Education Study Program in the effort of developing study program using SWOT matrix that is (a) capacity building of human resources (b) making the student achievement program (mawapres) become the flagship program for the students (c) conduct a disciplined and responsible implementation of the curriculum (d) reproduce international journal publications for lecturers of Javanese Education Studies Program (e) increase the regular infrastructure maintenance (f) analyzing the budget needs to make the draft budget (g) Apply work based learning in student learning (h) Develop clear SOP organizational management study program (i) Improve communication between universities and the employment (j) improve the performance of multimedia and information teams in the study program (k) improve cooperation relationships with institutions partner (l) cooperate with the government in the regions to distribute the graduates of the study program (m) improve the quality and quantity of research programs and community service

Abstract

This research aims to implement the Problem Based Learning model to improve students’ problem solving skill which can be identified from the mathematics learning outcomes. Experimental research is conducted in Focus Independent School Primary School by taking a control class of 15 students and an experiment class of 16 students as the samples. The result of the pretest done at the beginning of the research shows that the experiment class hasa greater average score compared to the control class. The experiment class has an average score of 76.16 while other class reaches 75.64. By having different treatments; control class with conventional model and experiment class with problem based learning model, we may conlude that the students in the experiment class have produced better results than those in the control class.The average scores in both classes, control and experiment classes, are 78.50 and 82.03 with deviation standards of 13.120 and 12.623. The control class has a minimum score of 52.50 and maximum score of 97.50, while the experiment class scores a minimum mark of 60 and maximum mark of 100. It shows that the problem based learning model is more effective to be implemented in the class than the conventional one. Students are given more chances to develop their problem solving skill by exploring for more knowledge and searching for solutions for the problems occurred.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are: 1) to know the condition of biology learning material on SMA Islam 1 Surakarta; 2) to know the procedure of developing the learning materialsfor Biology based on STESfor the students of SMA Islam 1 Surakarta;3) to know the effectiveness of the learning materials based on STESto improve the student’s critical thinking skills of SMA Islam 1 Surakarta. The research used the Research and Development (R&D) method, which referred to the model claim by Borg & Gall, and which was modified into nine phases, namely: 1) research and information collecting; 2) planning; 3) development preliminary form of product; 4) preliminary field testing; 5) main product revision; 6) main field testing; 7) operational product revision; 8) operational field testing; and 9) final product revision. The respondents of learning materials development included field testing respondents consisting 2 validators, limited-scale main field testing respondents consisting 10 students, and operational field testing respondents consisting of 23 students. The data of research were gathered through questionnaire, observation, in-depth interview, and test. They were analyzed by using the descriptive qualitative method. Meanwhile, the result of critical thinking skill was analyzed by using normalized N-gain and Paired Sample T test to investigate the effectiveness of the Biology’s learning materials based on STES to improve student’s critical thinking skills. The results of research are as follows: 1) Biology learning materials on SMA Islam 1 Surakarta has been used in learning process are less facility to improve critical thinking skills; 2) The development procedure began with first design, then continue with a media and material expert validation in order to show that learning material for Biology based on STES is appropriate for the trial;3) The results of the effectiveness of the developed Biology learning materials based on STES to improve crtitical thinking skills are indicated by the improvement of scores critical thinking skill that was analyzed by normalized N-Gain and Paired Sample T-Test, each result are 0,40 and 0,008. Based on the results of research a conclusion is drawn that Biology’s learning materials based on STES are effective to improve student’s critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Kebutuhan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris profesi untuk peserta didik International Hotel Management School (IHS) teridentifikasi setelah hasil evaluasi bersama program On the Job Training (OJT) menunjukkan bahwa unjuk kerja yang diharapkan dari peserta IHS yang menempuh OJT di bagian Front Office hotel, tidak sesuai dengan apa yang ditunjukkan di lapangan. Berdasarkan hasil analisa terhadap kurikulum pendidikan IHS, didapati bahwa program-program pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di IHS dikembangkan berdasarkan situasi atau keadaan di mana peserta didik membutuhkan kerampilan berkomunikasi dalam Bahasa Inggris sebagai bagian dari tuntutan pekerjaan mereka. Oleh karena itu analisis kebutuhan pembelajaran (Need Analysis), yaitu tahap peserta didik mengidentifikasi kebutuhan pembelajaran, menjadi tahap yang paling menentukan di dalam proses pengembangan bahan ajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: mengembangkan bahan ajar Bahasa Inggris berbasis kompetensi kerja untuk mempersiapkan peserta didik IHS menempuh OJT di bagian Front Office hotel, dan mengetahui efektifitas bahan ajar Bahasa Inggris berbasis kompetensi kerja dalam meningkatkan kompetensi kecakapan Berbahasa Inggris peserta didik/i IHS. Bahan ajar Bahasa Inggris berbasis kompetensi kerja yang dihasilkan di dalam penelitian ini dikaji dari dua aspek, yaitu: aspek efektivitas penggunaan bahan ajar, serta aspek kelayakan bahan ajar, yang meliputi kelayakan isi, kelayakan kebahasaan, kelayakan penyajian, dan kelayakan unsur dekoratif bahan ajar.

Abstract

This study aims to produce an E-learning design that will be used in basic programming learning in the Vocational High School Multimedia Skills Program. E-Learning is a learning technology that is bridged by internet technology in which there are media to display material, questions and discussion forums. E-Learning strongly supports the basic programming learning process, because basic programming is learning that requires every student to memorize or understand algorithms and programming languages that aim to be able to make a computer program. Students are required to learn repeatedly so that basic programming materials are not easily forgotten. With E-Learning, students can learn wherever and whenever they are so that the process of learning basic programming can be done anywhere and anytime repeatedly without having to face-to-face with the instructor. But not all E-Learning is able to meet the needs of every learning process of every education provider, because in general between one educational provider with another has different learning strategies and standards. Therefore, before developing E-Learning, it first requires the process of analysis, planning, and design in order to arrange the right framework according to needs.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to: (1) Improving student motivation through the application of interactive multimedia in science for fourth grade at Brubuh 2 Elementary School; (2) Improving student learning outcomes through the application of interactive multimedia in science for fourth grade at Brubuh 2 Elementary School. This type of research is a classroom action research (PTK), the research subjects were 21 students of fourth grade at Brubuh 2 Elementary School. The research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques using the test (to measure student learning outcomes), the questionnaire (to measure student motivation), observation, interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data using triangulation techniques and data sources triangulation method. While the criteria for the success of this research if at least 80% of students had reached KKM (minimum completeness criteria) ≥ 70, and the percentage of learners' motivation towards science learning using interactive multimedia by 80%. The results showed that an increase in student learning outcomes, including an increase in the average grade of 60.38% pre-cycle into 72.41 % in the first cycle and 83.09% in the second cycle. The lowest value increased from pre cycles 50 to 60 in the first cycle and 65 in the second cycle. The highest value increase of pre cycles 76 to 90 in the first cycle and 100 in the second cycle. The number of students who reach KKM ≥ 70 also increased from 38.1% pre-cycle to 66.7% in the first cycle and 90.47% in the second cycle. The percentage of student motivation toward science learning by using interactive multimedia application amounted to 67.43% in the first cycle and increased to 84.23% in the second cycle. The second variable of this class action research has qualified research success criteria, that is motivation and completeness learning outcomes of students reached 80 %.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) Explain the LKS used in learning in SMA 2 Bhineka Karya Boyolali, (2) describe the steps of developing the Electronic Smart LKS, (3) describe the results of the development of Electronic Smart LKS, and (4) test the effectiveness of Smart LKS Electronics produced. This type of research is research and development (R&D). The development research model used is the ADDIE model which consists of (1) Analysis, analyzing material and media materials needed in learning (2) Design, designing the draft of Electronic Smart LKS products in learning, (3) Development, Developing Electronic Smart LKS media in learning (4) Implementation of Electronic Smart LKS media and physical education materials (5) Evaluation. The subjects of this study were students of class XI SMA 2 Bhineka Karya Boyolali on physical education and sports subject material. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, documentation, and assessment sheets. The results of the assessment sheet assessment from media experts obtained an average of 85%, results from an average material expert 85.25%, one-on-one trial 85.75%, the results of small group trials phase I 77.88%, the test Phase II small group trials were 83% and field trials were 83%. The results of the experimental class obtained an average value of 82.88, while the control class obtained an average value of 68.00 verses or equivalent to 2.8 pages. Product effectiveness test results with a significance value of 5% obtained sig. (2-tailed) 0,000 <0.05. The conclusion of this study is that Electronic Worksheets can effectively increase student interest in learning

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the ability of students’ reading comprehension in grade XI SMA Negeri Kota Bima, the factors that affect the students’ reading comprehension comprehension, as well as obstacles and how to overcome them. The type of research used in this research was qualitative research using observation, interview and documentation study. The data collection technique involved 74 students of class XI in SMA Negeri Kota Bima as respondents. While for data analysis technique, the writer uses triangulation of data and sources. From this research, it resulted: (1) Based on the results of student learning evaluation conducted by teachers during the last 2 years, the average score obtained by students of 60, 28 of them got score with a high value ranges 70-100, and the remaining got 46 scores with a score range of 10-65; (2) Factors that may affect student reading comprehension were internal and external factors; (3) As for some obstacles encountered in this research were: (a) The use of instructional media by teachers was still lacking, (b) the utilization of facilities and infrastructure had not been maximized, (c) the learning resources were still lacking, (d) the student’ motivation was low, (4)The solutions offered were: (a) Maximum utilization of facilities and infrastructure, (b)the use texts in the form of local folklore, (d) using and develop innovative, lightweight, easy and repeatable media of learning.
