Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of misconceptions that occur in Cenderawasih University physics education students in the material Temperature, Heat and Waves. This research is a descriptive research conducted in physics department of Cendrawasih University by involving 22 physics education students. The data collection technique used was a test in the form of multiple choice questions of 30 items. The questions were distributed to students and then the results were analyzed by using the Certainty Of Response Index (CRI) method to be categorized into four levels, one of which is misconception category.  The results of the study revealed that students experience misconception in the three materials analyzed with the average percentage of students who experienced misconception in the material of Temperature, Heat, and Waves are 20.7% (low category), and 17,61% (low category), and 32.12% (moderate category), respectively. One of the factors causing misconceptions is the lack of understanding and references from educators. Therefore, it is expected that the physics materials is delivered clearly based on the concept so that students can avoid misconceptions.

Abstract

The integration of virtual laboratories has become an innovative solution for enhancing physics education, particularly in addressing challenges related to limited access to physical laboratory resources. This study aims to investigate the perceptions of physics education students at Cenderawasih University regarding the use of EveryCircuit-based virtual laboratories in learning dynamic electricity concepts. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through an online questionnaire distributed to 16 students. The questionnaire assessed three key aspects: material comprehension, usability of the EveryCircuit application, and students’ motivation and skills. The results revealed that 42.50% of students agreed that the EveryCircuit-based virtual laboratory improved their understanding of dynamic electricity concepts, while 46.87% agreed on its usability, and 43.75% reported enhanced motivation and skills. Despite positive responses, some challenges emerged, including limited proficiency in using EveryCircuit and occasional technical barriers such as unstable internet connections. Overall, the findings suggest that EveryCircuit-based virtual laboratories offer an effective alternative for teaching dynamic electricity, promoting a more interactive and accessible learning environment. The study recommends further research to address technical challenges and improve training on the use of virtual laboratory tools. Additionally, incorporating complementary digital resources and hands-on guidance could enhance the overall effectiveness of virtual laboratory implementation in physics education.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the influence of the use of Big Book media on science learning outcomes on the ecosystem matter at SDN Inpres Perumnas 2 Waena. This type of research is quantitative research with experimental methods. The population in this study were fifth grade students and the sampling technique was a total sampling of 50 students. The data collection technique uses a test consisting of a pre-test and post-test, each with 20 multiple choice questions. The results of the trial test on 20 students and validity were obtained with r count = 0.765 with a significance level of 5% with rtable = 0.404. Reliability test with index r11 = 0.773 with high category reliability. The difference between questions is in the good and very good categories, while the difficulty level of the questions is in the categories of 25% easy, 50% medium and 25% difficult. Furthermore, the differentiating power of the test was found to be 15% of questions in the very good category, 35% in the good category, 50% in the quite good category. Descriptive data analysis techniques related to the description of the achievement of mastery of science learning outcomes on the ecosystem matter in the low category were 6 people (24%), in the medium category 11 people (44%) and in the high category 8 people (32%). The pre-test and post-test normality tests for the experimental class obtained sig values of 0.286 > 0.05 and 0.156 > 0.05, which means the data is normally distributed. The homogeneity test obtained a significance value of 0.992 > 0.05, which means the data is homogeneous. Test the hypothesis using an independent sample test and obtain a t count of 1.73 and t table = 1.677 because t count > t table then ho is rejected, which means that there is an influence of the use of Big Book media on the science learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SDN Inpres Perumnas 2 Waena.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to design and develop Student Worksheets based on a discovery learning approach, supported by PhET Interactive Simulations  media, and to examine their design, feasibility, and practicality in the context of electricity at the high school level. The LKPD development process follows the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model, which encompasses the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The average obtained from the expert validation results is 87.50%, based on three assessment aspects, and is declared to be suiTabel for use. Meanwhile, the feasibility validation by media experts yields an average value of 79.68% across four indikators, indicating that the LKPD is ideal for use. Furthermore, the results of the field trial conducted by students are 82.84%, which is also classified as very appropriate. Based on the average value, it can be said that the physics LKPD based on discovery learning, supported by PhET.

Abstract

Scientific presentation is one of the essential skills that every individual should possess, particularly those involved in the fields of education and research. Classroom learning is often focused on children's ability to memorize. This study aims to determine how presentation skills use the GI type cooperative model. This study used two variables: the independent variable and the dependent variable. The independent variable was the learning model, specifically a cooperative learning model of the group investigation type. The dependent variable in this study was the ability to learn. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative, as the purpose of this study is to provide a comprehensive picture of the phenomenon. The study's results showed an average increase of 17 points, accompanied by a decrease in the standard deviation value from 5.86 to 3.64, indicating the development of presentation skills following participation in GI-type cooperative learning. The results of the normality test on the presentation ability data at the pretest stage showed that the significance value in the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was 0.116 and in the Shapiro-Wilk test was 0.061, indicating that the pretest data did not deviate significantly from a normal distribution.
