Abstract

Integrating ethnomathematics into mathematics education holds tremendous promise, fostering a range of positive outcomes. It has shown potential in enhancing students' mathematical creative thinking, problem-solving abilities, active engagement in learning, and fostering a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity. Despite these promising prospects, an evident gap looms large in the literature specifically, the lack of comprehensive research on developing, validating, and evaluating teaching materials that effectively integrate ethnomathematics content. The study aimed to create teaching materials within the context of ethnomathematics to evaluate students' mathematical creative thinking. This endeavor followed the ADDIE research and development model, encompassing analysis, development, design, implementation, and evaluation. Small-group testing was undertaken involving 10 participants, while field testing involved 35 respondents. The validation process involved both media, and material experts to ensure the suitability of the teaching materials for development. The findings indicated that the teaching materials received validation from experts, confirming their quality and appropriateness. Additionally, student feedback showed that the materials were not only valid but also engaging and intellectually stimulating, meeting the criteria for an effective educational resource. In summary, the development of teaching materials stands out as a valuable asset in evaluating students' mathematical creative thinking abilities. This research contributes to the field of mathematics education, especially in mathematics teaching and learning

Abstract

This study aims to test the feasibility, attractiveness, and effectiveness of learning media in the form of STEM-based digital pocket books assisted by Appypie on students’ creative thinking skills on triangle material. Research and development (R&D) in this study uses the ADDIE model with 5 stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The data collection techniques used were interviews, questionnaires, and tests. Data collection instruments in this study include student needs questionnaires, interview sheets, expert validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and tests. The data analysis techniques used are expert validation data analysis, and student response data analysis. Based on the results of the validation test, an average score of 3.63 from material experts and 3.70 from media experts was obtained (feasible to use). The attractiveness response that has been carried out in small and large class tests obtained an average score of 3.57 (very interesting) and 3.80 (very interesting), respectively. The effectiveness test on the use of learning media developed in this study could not be carried out due to the constraints of the Covid-19 pandemic, so this research was limited to the development stage. It can be concluded that the STEM-based digital pocket book assisted by Appypie on students' creative thinking skills on triangle material is feasible and interesting to use in the learning process. This study aims to test the feasibility, attractiveness, and effectiveness of learning media in the form of STEM-based digital pocket books assisted by Appypie on students’ creative thinking skills on triangle material. Abstract

Numeracy literacy is a critical competency in mathematics education, but students often have difficulty understanding the concept of fractions contextually. This study aims to develop Student Worksheets based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) to improve numeracy literacy in fractions at the junior high school level, emphasizing the integration of real-life contexts and curriculum relevance. This study uses the Design Research method with the Tessmer formative evaluation approach, involving 28 seventh grade students of MTs YPNH Tanah Abang, Palembang. The stages include needs analysis, prototype design, expert validation (materials and media), and gradual trials (one-to-one, small group, and field test). Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and learning outcome tests, analyzed qualitatively-quantitatively to assess the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the student worksheets. The results of the study stated that the student worksheets were declared valid based on expert assessments and very practical according to student responses. The effectiveness of the student worksheets was proven by the average class value which was included in the "Very Good" category and the high percentage of learning completion. Analysis of students' answers showed an increase in students' ability to apply fraction concepts in authentic contexts, such as visual data analysis and predictions based on quantitative information. This study contributes to the selection of CTL-based student worksheets in improving students' numeracy literacy through real problems and empirically valid structured frameworks, in accordance with the principles of the Independent Curriculum.
