Abstract

One of the problems in the fish farming sector is the outbreak of infectious diseases caused by parasites. The presence of parasites can cause poor quality and affect the growth and reproduction of fish. This study aims to identify the types of ectoparasites, intensity and prevalence of ectoparasites that infect tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). The research was carried out in February - March 2021 at the Tlogowaru Fish Seed Center, Malang City. Determination of the pond as a sampling location purposively based on the length of the fish fry. Pool A contains fish seeds measuring 7-9 cm, pool B contains fish seeds measuring 9-11 cm, and pool E, tilapia measuring 12-15 cm. A total of 36 fish samples were taken at random, from each pond 12 samples were taken using the simple random sampling method. Found as many as 3 types of ectoparasites that infect tilapia fry (Oreochromis niloticus), namely: Trichodina sp., Gyrodactylus sp., and Epistylis sp. The highest prevalence value was found in the parasite Trichodina sp. by 75% and the lowest prevalence value in the parasite Gyrodactylus sp. by 16.6%. The highest intensity value was obtained from the ectoparasite Trichodina sp. of 3.33 ind/head and the lowest intensity value was on the parasite Gyrodactylus sp. of 0.57 ind/head. The type of ectoparasite that was found to be the most dominant in infecting value fish was Trichodina sp. The quality of pond water, especially fluctuating temperature and pH, is thought to be the influence of infection in tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

One type of organochlorine pesticide used by farmers is endosulfan. Excessive use of pesticides can cause environmental and water pollution and have an impact on the life of freshwater biota such as goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) Punten strain. The purpose of this study was to determine the value of LC50-168 hours of endosulfan insecticide on mortality of carp (Cyprinus carpio) eggs and to compare egg hatchability and survival of goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) larvae on exposure to endosulfan insecticides with different concentrations. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 1 control. Each treatment was repeated three times, namely P0 = 0 ppm (control), P1 (0.01 ppm), P2 (0.1 ppm), and P3 (1 ppm). Analysis of Variens (ANOVA) and DNMRT (Duncan New Multiple Range Test) were used to compare egg hatchability and larval survival at different concentrations of endosulfan insecticides. The results of the acute toxicity test (LC50-168 hours) of carp eggs were at a concentration of 0.6 ppm, there was a significant difference in hatchability of goldfish eggs (Cyprinus carpio) Punten strain exposed to endosulfan insecticide exposure with different concentration levels the higher the endosulfan concentration. used, the lower the hatchability of goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) eggs, and the survival rate of goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) larvae was different at various levels of endosulfan concentration. The higher the endosulfan concentration, the lower the survival rate of goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) larvae.

Abstract

The use of vegetable biopesticides in plantations has long been known, but its application in forestry plant nurseries is generally still not widely practiced by the community. One of the environmental problems has become a global issue, namely the excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers. The use of pesticides that are not in the right dose, inappropriate use, inappropriate benefits and not according to the rules of use can be a source of compounds and pollution containing heavy metals which are very difficult to degrade. Cinnamon biopesticide research was carried out in several locations based on research activities. The collection of cinnamon samples was carried out in the Research Field of the Faculty of Agriculture and the manufacture of biopesticide solutions was carried out at the Forestry Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Khairun University. To test the effectiveness of the biopesticide solution, it was carried out in the Ake Malamo Watershed Management Center and Protected Forest on mangrove/mangrove seedlings. The application of biopesticides is carried out by spraying all parts of the seeds with the appropriate concentration of treatment. Applications were carried out five times with an interval of once every 1 week. Observations were made every week, one day after the application of spraying. The use of fragrant cinnamon biopesticide which was sprayed on mangrove seedlings 5 times 7 days after planting with a concentration of 75% each time was proven to suppress pest attacks so as to increase their growth. This result is better than the control/other treatments.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the biodiversity of ichthyofauna in seagrass meadows between the day and night periods. The study was conducted in July 2019 on seagrass habitats in the coastal waters of Wamsisi village, Buru Island, Maluku. Fish samples were collected using battom gill nets placed on seagrass meadows during the day and night periods. Data analysis includes species composition, community structure (dominance index, diversity, and uniformity), frequency of presence, and grouping similarity of fish species using the Bray-Curtis Index, which is displayed in the form of tables and dendrograms. The results obtained as many as 72 individuals, 34 species from 14 families, and 4 orders. The species composition and the highest frequency of presence were Naso hexacanthus (Acanthuridae) during the day, Caesio caerulaurea (Caesionidae), and Lutjanus gibbus (Lutjanidae) at night, diversity and equitability indexes were in the high category, whereas the dominance index was in a low category. Based on the life phase, the ichthyofauna was dominated by the pre-adult of 17 species (50,0%), adult of 12 species (35,3%), and yuwana phase of 5 species (14.7%). The similarity of species between the day and night periods is categorized as low in value, which means the presence of fish species is different between the day and night periods.

Abstract

Tilapia is one type of freshwater fish that has a lot of demand in the market. Therefore, the production of tilapia aquaculture is increasing. Increased production of aquaculture causes a decrease in water quality due to the large number of metabolic wastes. Fish farmers usually require a large amount of money to overcome the decline in the quality of aquaculture pond water. For this reason, it is necessary to apply techniques to improve the quality of aquaculture pond water at an affordable cost. Azolla sp and Ipoemea aquatica are plants that can absorb environmental contaminants. The research method used was experimental method with untreated pool water samples (control), pool water samples treated with kale (Treatment 1), pool water samples treated with Azolla sp. (Treatment 2) and pond water samples with the combination treatment of kale and Azolla sp. (Treatment 3). Ammonia levels in Tilapia pond water samples were statistically analyzed using the SPSS application. The results showed that kale and Azolla sp. tends to be effective in reducing ammonia levels in Tilapia rearing pond water. The water spinach treatment had a higher value in reducing ammonia levels in the sample water of the tilapia rearing pond, which was 5.99 compared to the Azolla sp. of 3.22 and the combination treatment of 5.95.

Abstract

The increase in the greenhouse gas effect has increased the earth's temperature and triggered global climate change, as well as given various negative impacts. Thus, efforts to adaptation and mitigate the impacts of climate change need to be carried out massively through various positive activities, including outreach and education to increase the knowledge and understanding of various parties related to this matter. Socialization and educational activities were carried out on December 5, 2021 with the theme 'Blue Carbon and Mitigation Climate Change Action' which was organized by the Biology Study Program Student Association, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Islam Malang, and was attended by 40 participants from students and alumni which took place online using zoom meeting app. Data collection using a questionnaire as a form of evaluation was divided into two stages, including: 1) pre-test questionnaire before presentation of discussion, and 2) Post-test questionnaire after delivery of presentation and discussion. The results of the socialization found that relatively many participants had minimal knowledge and understanding of the greenhouse gases effects, climate change and their impact on life, including mitigation efforts, but the evaluation results showed positive changes in this regard. With increased knowledge and understanding it is hoped that it will influence their behavior to be actively involved in mitigating the impact of global climate change now and in the future. So that activities like this need to be continuously followed up in academic and non-academic activities in college, as a form of environmental education implementation.
