Abstract

The implementation of the ship maintenance management system on Rear Admiral Jhon Lie's training ship did not run optimally, which impacted the less-than-optimal condition of various training ship equipment because the crew did not carry out the ship maintenance system according to the procedure, resulting in the incident that the ship's anchor winch operation did not function optimally when the ship was anchored in Belang Port, Southeast Minahasa. This study aims to identify and analyze the positive and significant effect of the planned maintenance system on shipping safety. The primary data collection methods used in this study were questionnaires and interviews. In this study, data processing and presentation were in the form of diagrams and path analysis with structural equation modeling (SEM-PLS) using SmartPLS. From the results of the data analysis, the R-square value of shipping safety (Y) is 0.307, which means that the planned maintenance system (X1) and ship maintenance (X2) can affect shipping safety (Y) by 30.7%. Ship maintenance (X2) has a significant effect on sailing safety (Y), with P-values = 0.033 0.05 (hypothesis accepted). The planned maintenance system (X1) has a significant effect on sailing safety (Y), with a P-value of 0.037 0.05 (hypothesis accepted). As a result of the analysis, it was found that the planned maintenance system has a significant effect on shipping safety.

Abstract

The purposive of this study, namely to find out how much and what are the sources of income for traditional fishermen's families in Belang District, and the expenses of traditional fishermen's families in Belang District. The Method used in this research is a survey method. The populations in this study are traditional fishermen in Belang District. The sampling method is using a quataed Multi-Stages Purposive Sampling, with the number of sample villages being 15 villages and the sample fishermen taken are fishermen with fishing rods and nets as much as 10% of the total population in each sample village. The data analysis used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. The standard of living of traditional fishing families is analyzed using the Engel index. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the income of traditional fishermen's families in Belang District comes from their main job as fishermen, side jobs outside the field of fisheries. The total incomes of traditional fishermen's families in Belang District on average for one year is Rp.53.394.000. There are two types of expenditures for traditional fishermen's families in Belang District, namely expenditures for food and expenditures for non-food such as clothing, housing, health, education, electricity, transportation and others. The total average expenditure for one year is Rp. 53.394.000, which is divided into expenditures for food needs of Rp. 32.284.500 and expenditures for non-food needs, which are Rp. 21.109.500. The results of the analysis of the Engel index are 60.46%, used to meet food needs only. The proportion for food, which is 39.54%. This is indicates that the standard of living of traditional fishermen in Belang District is still relatively low because more than half of their income is only sufficient to meet food needs.

Abstract

We used the Nansen Bottle Sampler to collect water samples in the deepsea area, ranging from 150 meters to 175 meters in six water points around Manado Bay, to test the quality of e-DNA water samples to detect target species in the fishing area. Therefore, the basis of the case study method with a sampling technique was carried out on July 29 2023 using Power Water Sterivex Kits, water samples were then stored at -250C and were then taken to TBRC, University of the Ryukyus for further laboratory works, such as; eDNA extract, eDNA quality testing, 1st and 2nd PCR and Electrophoresis eDNA analysis processes using MiFish-U primers with a target of 163–185bp and 375 bp, following the MiFish protocol.  Based on the results of the eDNA extract solution, it is known that the quality of eDNA from the 6 sampling sites locations ranged between 2.8 µg/mL – 4.4 µ g/mL, which means a good quality of eDNA. Moreover, it showed that the presence of DNA fragments at Kappa 60◦C Gelelectrophoresis 1st-PCR, 12S rRNA gene product (163–185bp), and Kappa 60◦C and 65◦C Geklelectrophoresis 2nd-PCR Products according to the target amplicon 375 bp. This means we can conduct the next step, the PCR sequence analysis.  Then, eDNA quality testing, 1st and 2nd PCR, and Electrophoresis of e-DNA analysis process were using MiFish-U F/R primers with a target of 375 bp, it is known that the concentration of Nanodrop from the 6 sampling locations ranges between 2.8 µg/mL – 4.4 µg/mL while the core or quality eDNA ranged from 1.56 µg/mL – 2.50 µg/mL. Based on identification results, five types of species were detected; Myctophum lychnobium, Selar crumenophthalmus, Photonectes sp., Oreochromis sp. Thunnus obesus and Homo sapiens were generated using eDNA metabarcoding on the mitochondria genome database MitoFish. Abstract

Sea Surface Temperature (SST) is the temperature of the water measured at sea level. SST is a crucial marine parameter that influences the weather and climate in Indonesia. The value of sea surface temperature will be very closely related to factors such as the depth of measurement from sea level, the intensity of sunlight received, season, weather, water depth, air circulation, and cloud cover. This study aims to design a prototype tool to measure wind speed and sea surface temperature parameters. The components used are the DS18B20 sensor, JL-FS2 sensor, Arduino Mega 2560, and the SIM900a GSM Module. The system is displayed in real-time via the Thingspeak website, accessed via a PC or smartphone. The DS18B20 sensor, as a sea surface temperature sensor, can measure these parameters by looking at the trend of changing day and night temperatures. The JL-FS2, as a wind speed sensor, has been able to measure wind speed parameters during field tests at FADs.
