Abstract

Mayoritas nelayan tradisional menggunakan tempat penyimpanan sederhana seperti kotak styrofoam, peti kayu, dan palka sederhana dengan media pendinginan es balok. Penyimpanan tersebut belum memiliki insulasi yang baik sehingga berakibat pada kualitas ikan yang menurun. Belum lagi keluhan terkait cepat rusaknya box ikan yang terbuat dari styrofoam tersebut. Kekurangan kotak ikan berbahan styrofoam adalah sangat mudah rusak dan berlumut. Beberapa penelitian memberikan solusi untuk menginsulasi palka dengan beberapa bahan insulasi seperti polyurethane, sekam padi, aluminium dan sebagainya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menurunkan laju perpindahan panas pada palka ikan kapal 7GT dengan variasi kevakuman dan persentase es terhadap ikan. Konstruksi insulasi dibuat sedemikian hingga dengan variasi fiberglass dan polyurethane dengan ketebalan tertentu diharapkan dapat meningkatkan masa pemakaian fish hold menjadi lebih lama.

Abstract

Nowadays, waste is a serious problem, especially plastic waste, which is quite alarming in the world. Plastic is waste that is difficult to degrade and takes hundreds of years to decompose. One of the promising technologies for recycling plastics is pyrolysis. This is the process of breaking long chains of polymers into hydrocarbons which are carried out at high temperatures. The purpose of this paper was to know the effect of using catalysts and non-catalysts on yield and calorific value. In this study, the pyrolysis process used a natural zeolite catalyst with a temperature of 500ºC. 50 grams of HDPE Plastic feed was put into the reactor for 3 hours. The variations in the addition of Zeolite catalyst were 1.5, 2.5, 3.75 and 5%wt. The results goals that the highest yield was 44.36% and the heating value of 10230.295 cal/g for the addition of 5 grams of catalyst. Abstract

Axial fans are widely applied in the industrial sector. Axial fans are used for ventilation systems and other cooling systems. The blade design of the axial fan requires an airfoil study. Unfortunately, there are not many articles that discuss in detail about airfoils, especially on noise and vibration that can have an impact on axial fan performance using computational fluid methods or software. This study performs axial fan analysis using computational methods with ANSYS Fluent, Static Structural, Modal and Harmonic Response software to obtain the values of stress, vibration and fluid flow. The experimental design used is using NACA 1412, 4142, and 6412 airfoils on the tip with variations in angles of 60, 74, and 80. While on the hub uses NACA 9312, 9412, and 9512 airfoils with angle variations of 20, 30, and 60 and simulated to find the value of vibration and stress analysis. The 3D axial fan design is imported into the ANSYS Fluent, Static Structural, Modal and Harmonic Response software. The simulation results using Ansys Fluent, shows the pressure contour with a maximum value of 198.424 Pa and Velocity streamline with a maximum value of 28.8669 m/s. the results of the Ansys Static Structural simulation show that the average total deformation is 9.9275e-008 m. The simulation results using Ansys Modal, show that there is a natural frequency of 287.8 Hz and the simulation results of Ansys Harmonic Response obtained an average total deformation of 5.0809e-012 m and the equivalent stress value with a maximum value of σ y, max = 0.20186 Pa.

Abstract

A numerical study to reduce the condenser pressure in critical areas of a power plant surface condenser has been carried out. Numerically, effects are considered through a three-dimensional simulation approach. Modifying by adding a guide plate with a three variation of angle, (?) 15?, 30?, 45? in the surface condenser area to reduce the dynamic forces and pressure due to the collision of fluid flow in the critical pipeline without reducing the purpose of the design of shell and tube heat exchanger results in transferring heat. The drag force caused by the interaction of the shear layer with the surface of the body is very undesirable, so that the control of the flow fields is needed, one of which is by optimal angle guide plate of the pipe arrangement in the critical area. This study aims to determine the optimal plate angle to overcome high pressure in the critical area. This research was numerically conducted using 3D CFD ANSYS 14.5 software with a turbulence model using a standard k-? using a pressure-based solution solver. The initial stage takes geometric data on the surface condenser in the design specification as the basis for making the domain and data from before as boundary conditions in the simulation research process. The result is that with the addition of guide plates, the average drag coefficient (Cd) is reduced compared to the average Cd in the baseline conditions and angle variation (?) 15?, 30?, 45? is 0.537; 0.644; 0.446; 0.464. Taking into this aspect, the most optimal plate angle is 30?. The simulation results show that changing the angle of the plate can reduce the Nusselt value than the baseline conditions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan kajian eksperimen dengan memvariasikan stagger angle pada S/d = 0,75 konstan. Bentuk sudu turbin Savonius menggunakan persamaan myring dan menempatkan silinder sirkular pada daerah advancing. Kajian eksperimen dilakukan pad sudu kombinasi myring n=1 pada sisi cekung dan n=2 pada sisi cembung. Silinder berdiameter 12 cm ditempatkan pada sisi advancing dengan memvariasikan sudut stagger 0o, 15o, 30o, 45o, 60o, 75o dan 90o. Model uji berukuran tinggi dan diameter masing-masing sebesar 0,40 m dan flowing tank memiliki ukuran lebar dan tinggi masing-masing 1 m dan diuji pada arus 0,2 m/s. Hasil diperoleh bahwa silinder sirkular diletakan pada sisi advancing pada stagger γ = 60º menghasilkan Cp tertinggi 0,1515 atau meningkat sebesar 10,27% dibandingkan dengan tanpa silinder.

Abstract

This article discusses a preliminary study of developing a paddlewheel aerator for shrimp ponds using an integrated intelligent aquaculture system to support intensification. Two paddlewheel aerators with different phases have been successfully installed. The test was carried out on two different types of motors, which were intended to comprehend the performance of every motor on a paddlewheel aerator. The ratio of the speed values for a single-phase motor was 102 rpm and for a 3-phase motor was 110.3 rpm. The data from the performance observation of the aeration wheel motor can be viewed via a smartphone using a website application. The data displayed from the observations are in the form of data on voltage, current, frequency, power, power factor, and the power generated by the pinwheel motor. The test results show the performance of the aeration wheel motor that works under normal conditions with an average measurement error of 0.23%, below the acceptable error limit of 0.5%. This research forms the basis for a smart aquaculture system that can be developed domestically to support local industries in Indonesia.

Abstract

The main problem discussed in this study is the effort to improve the quality of shrimp pond water, especially the low dissolved oxygen levels by modifying the angle of the aerator wheel. The results showed that dissolved oxygen (DO) levels were very important in shrimp pond culture and that the paddle wheel aerator was a useful tool in intensive aquaculture systems because it could produce DO as needed. The study used a model designed using Solidworks software and tested at a scale of 1:10 with 3 variations of angles (15°, 35°, and 55°) at each wheel angle. The test results show that the angle variation affects the rotational speed and DO production, with the highest rotational speed and DO production achieved at an angle variation of 55°. However, the best parameters for the aerator were found at a variation of the wheel angle of 35° and a rotational speed of 300 rpm, because it produced the highest dissolved oxygen with relatively low power.

Abstract

Kelompok nelayan Sedati saat ini mengandalkan kapal ikan 1 GT untuk menangkap ikan di lautan. Mayoritas kapal yang dimiliki oleh nelayan sudah berbahan fiber. Dalam pengoprasiannya, sering terjadi kerusakan-kerusakan kecil pada kapal akibat benturan ataupun kandas pada tanah. Kerusakan-kerusakan ini tentunya akan mengganggu pekerjaan nelayan dalam mengangkap ikan. Oleh karenaya Nelayan perlu dibekali keahlian dalam perwatan dan perbaikan kapal berbahan Fiber, agar bisa melakukan perbaikan secara mandiri. Kegiatan pelatihan kapal berbahan Fiber akan diperuntukkan bagi kelompok nelayan di Kecamatan Sedati Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Pelatihan terdiri dari teori penggunaan kapal Fiber yang baik dan benar, teori perawatan dan perbaikan kapal fiber, teori pencampuran bahan fiber di kapal serta praktek langsung di lapangan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menguji pengaruh bilangan peroksida dalam multi-feedstock biodiesel berbahan baku minyak kelapa sawit, minyak jelantah dan lemak sapi terhadap performa motor diesel empat langkah. Hasil pada pengujian karakteristik B20, B35 dan B100 menunjukkan bahwa angka peroksida ini berdampak pada karakteristik biodiesel yang lain. Titik nyala, angka setana dan viskositas memiliki angka tinggi selaras dengan tingginya angka peroksida, sementara nilai kalori cenderung lebih rendah. Uji performa pada motor diesel empat langkah pada beban maksimum 3000 Watt dan putaran maksimum 1050 rpm menunjukkan bahwa pemakaian bahan bakar B100 yang mengandung angka peroksida tertinggi memberikan performa terbaik. Daya maksimum yang dihasilkan sebesar 1,57 kW dan torsi maksimum sebesar 14,27 Nm dibandingkan dengan penggunaan bahan bakar B20 dan B35 yang memiliki angka peroksida lebih rendah. Sedangkan konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik (GSFC) B100 cenderung lebih besar yaitu sekitar 717,22 g/kWh daripada B35 maupun B20 yang memiliki angka peroksida yang lebih rendah. Hal ini bisa terjadi diperkirakan karena adanya perbedaan karakteristik bahan bakar seperti nilai viskositas yang tinggi dan nilai kalori yang rendah pada B100 yang berpengaruh pada proses atomisasi bahan bakar.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan pengelolaan Bank Sampah Simojawar, Surabaya. Bank sampah merupakan salah satu bentuk pengelolaan sampah di masyarakat di mana sampah rumah tangga dikumpulkan, dipilah, dan dijual kembali kepada pihak ketiga. Melalui bank sampah, sampah dapat dikelola menjadi suatu hal yang bernilai ekonomis. Pengelolaan bank sampah mengadopsi sistem yang ada di perbankan, namun dalam bentuk yang lebih sederhana. Nasabah bank sampah, yang merupakan warga sekitar, menyetorkan sampah yang selanjutnya dicatat sebagai saldo sesuai nilai ekonomisnya. Dalam pelaksanaannya, pengelolaan bank sampah di Simojawar masih menemui berbagai kendala. Program pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dalam rangka meningkatkan pengelolaan bank sampah melalui berbagai kegiatan yang bernilai ekonomis bagi warga. Peningkatan pengelolaan bank sampah dilakukan dengan penerapan Sistem Digital Manajemen Bank Sampah (smash.id). Selain itu, juga dilakukan berbagai pendampingan dan pelatihan produk kreatif dari sampah plastik. Hal ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kinerja dan kegiatan operasional bank sampah di Simojawar.
