Abstract

The low level of traditional art skills and economic independence among female students (santriwati) at Pondok Pesantren Khoirul Huda 1 Surabaya is a major issue. This community service program aims to develop batik-making skills through various motif designs, enhance entrepreneurial spirit, and preserve local culture. The method used is a comprehensive training approach through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. Activities include delivering basic batik materials, training in designing motifs, canting techniques, coloring, and product finishing. The program successfully increased the santriwati’s knowledge and skills in batik-making, produced high-value products, and opened opportunities for creative entrepreneurship. The long-term impact includes the development of a pesantren-based batik center and a positive contribution to community economic empowerment through the preservation of traditional arts integrated with Islamic values.

Abstract

The increase in gas emissions from fossil fuels, which contributes to the greenhouse gas (GHG) effect, not only impacts the environment but can also serve as an indicator of diesel engine performance. This situation has driven the development of environmentally friendly alternative fuels. This study aims to analyze the characteristics and exhaust gas emissions of multi-feedstock biodiesel fuels produced from palm oil, used cooking oil, and soybean oil, blended with Pertamina Dex, when used in a four-stroke diesel engine. The method employed is a laboratory experiment involving variations of B40 biodiesel blends, including B40 with the addition of 2-ethylhexyl nitrate (2-EHN) as an additive. The tests were conducted at engine speeds of 1000 RPM, 1200 RPM, and 1400 RPM, using a 4000-watt lamp as the load. The parameters evaluated include flash point, density, viscosity, cetane number, calorific value, and the emission levels of CO, NOx, and SO₂. The results indicated that the B40 fuel blend with the 2-EHN additive showed the best performance. This was reflected in improved fuel characteristics such as a cetane number exceeding 59.2, a reduced viscosity of 5.78 cSt, and lower CO emissions, with the highest value recorded at 84.89 mg/m³. Although NOx emissions slightly increased to 165.9 mg/m³, the value remains well below the standard exhaust emission limit of 3400 mg/m³.

Abstract

Increasing the efficiency of equipment is very necessary to avoid wasting energy. It is known that fossil fuel energy continues to increase and runs out quickly, so alternative energy is needed that can be used continuously and does not run out quickly when used because this energy is easy to obtain and comes from nature. The aim of this research is to create a design for this equipment that can be applied in laboratories, pharmacies, hospitals, etc. The methods used in this design are structural plans and functional plans. In the process of heating the air in the evaporator with varying volumes, namely 1 liter, 2 liters, 2.5 liters, 3 liters and 3.5 liters, you can see a large amount of steam with a short heating process. The results of the research show that it can be seen that the electrical thermal efficiency shows that the smaller the value of the feed water volume, the greater the electrical thermal efficiency (inversely proportional). This shows that one indication is that the performance of the aquadest evaporator saves electrical energy in the heating and evaporation process of optimal water because the less feed, the faster the heating process, and the greater the amount of steam produced in one hour of operation and it can be seen that the energy consumption is spent on a volume of 3.5 liters because the heating time is long compared to other variations in feed water volume so the energy consumption is large

Abstract

Kegiatan pertambakkan pada umumnya terfokus untuk mendapatkan bibit ikan serta membesarkan ikan untuk mendapatkan hasil panen. Air tambak dalam pengolahan yang efisien akan dikuras berkala ketika kualitas air sudah keruh atau terkontamina. Proses pengurasan tambak akan menghasilkan produk air buangan tambak yang beresiko mencemari lingkungan apabila tidak diolah terlebih dahulu, namun beberapa tambak konvensional belum memiliki IPAL, maka metode filtrasi sederhana menggunakan arang, sabut kelapa, pasir dan kerikil dapat menjadi alternatif pengganti IPAL untuk tambak konvensional. Tujuan dari penelitian metode ini adalah untuk membantu mengontrol tingkat pencemaran air buangan tambak. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menguji kualitas air tambak sebelum dan sesudah filtrasi dengan parameter uji yaitu pH, Conductivity, Turbidity, dan Total Dissolved Solid menggunakan Turbidity Meter Hach 2100Q, TDS, Conductivity Meter Eutech Instrument CON 2700, pH Meter Ezdo PL-500 yang dilakukan di Laboratorium Utilitas PT. Mega Surya Mas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai pH sebelum di filtrasi sebesar 7,27 dan setelah difiltrasi sebesar 7,09, nilai conductivity sebelum difiltrasi sebesar 7,200 mS dan setelah difiltrasi sebesar 5,367 mS, kemudian nilai turbidity sebelum filtrasi sebesar 8,18 NTU dan setelah di filtrasi mencapai 8,90 NTU, untuk nilai Total Dissolve Solid sebelum filtrasi sebesar 2,903 ppt, dan setelah difiltrasi sebesar 2,791 ppt

Abstract

The main problem discussed in this study is the effort to improve the quality of shrimp pond water, especially the low dissolved oxygen levels by modifying the angle of the aerator wheel. The results showed that dissolved oxygen (DO) levels were very important in shrimp pond culture and that the paddle wheel aerator was a useful tool in intensive aquaculture systems because it could produce DO as needed. The study used a model designed using Solidworks software and tested at a scale of 1:10 with 3 variations of angles (15°, 35°, and 55°) at each wheel angle. The test results show that the angle variation affects the rotational speed and DO production, with the highest rotational speed and DO production achieved at an angle variation of 55°. However, the best parameters for the aerator were found at a variation of the wheel angle of 35° and a rotational speed of 300 rpm, because it produced the highest dissolved oxygen with relatively low power.

Abstract

Kelompok nelayan Sedati saat ini mengandalkan kapal ikan 1 GT untuk menangkap ikan di lautan. Mayoritas kapal yang dimiliki oleh nelayan sudah berbahan fiber. Dalam pengoprasiannya, sering terjadi kerusakan-kerusakan kecil pada kapal akibat benturan ataupun kandas pada tanah. Kerusakan-kerusakan ini tentunya akan mengganggu pekerjaan nelayan dalam mengangkap ikan. Oleh karenaya Nelayan perlu dibekali keahlian dalam perwatan dan perbaikan kapal berbahan Fiber, agar bisa melakukan perbaikan secara mandiri. Kegiatan pelatihan kapal berbahan Fiber akan diperuntukkan bagi kelompok nelayan di Kecamatan Sedati Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Pelatihan terdiri dari teori penggunaan kapal Fiber yang baik dan benar, teori perawatan dan perbaikan kapal fiber, teori pencampuran bahan fiber di kapal serta praktek langsung di lapangan.

Abstract

The Kalibaru River in Indonesia faces significant pollution challenges due to industrial and human activities, threatening ecosystem balance and water quality. To address this, a sand and carbon filter-based water filtration system is employed to improve water quality to grade 2 clean water standards.The method involves filtration using sand filters, carbon filters. Results show improved water quality with parametersThe decrease in turbidity from 6 NTU (March) to 5 NTU (June) indicates the filtration system's ability to remove suspended particles. Additionally, the decrease in electrical conductivity from 179.83 umhos (March) to 173.41 umhos (June) and TDS from 95.9 mg/L (March) to 92.7 mg/L (June) shows the system's ability to reduce dissolved ion concentrations.The stability of pH between March (7.58) and June (7.38) indicates that the filtration system does not affect the water's pH balance, remaining within the class 2 water quality standard (6-9). The relatively stable water temperature between March (27.5°C) and June (27°C) also shows that the filtration system does not significantly affect the water temperature  with Indonesian Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001.The system effectively removes contaminants, reduces turbidity, and kills pathogenic bacteria, making the water suitable for recreation, freshwater aquaculture, livestock, agriculture, and other uses. Regular monitoring and maintenance are necessary to sustain water quality.Indonesia's river water quality has been declining due to industrial pollution, pesticide and fertilizer use, and plastic waste. To combat this, efforts are being made to improve wastewater management, promote sustainable agriculture practices, and enhance public awareness.

Abstract

Studi ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan performa turbin Savonius melalui modifikasi turbin konvensional dengan pendekatan numerik. Analisis dilakukan secara tiga dimensi (3D) berbasis Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) untuk memperoleh nilai koefisien torsi (Ct), koefisien daya (Cp), serta visualisasi pola aliran dan distribusi tekanan pada turbin. Variasi model yang dianalisis meliputi turbin konvensional, serta turbin dengan penambahan dan pengurangan panjang busur sudu sebesar 40 mm. Dimensi model turbin memiliki diameter dan tinggi sebesar 400 mm, dengan variasi kecepatan angin masuk sebesar 5, 6, dan 7 m/s. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa model turbin dengan pengurangan panjang busur sudu 40 mm memberikan kinerja terbaik, dengan nilai Cp maksimum sebesar 0,278 pada Tip Speed Ratio (TSR) 0,6 pada kecepatan angin 7 m/s. Modifikasi ini menghasilkan peningkatan performa sebesar 2,22% dibandingkan dengan model turbin konvensional.
