Abstract

Abstract

Child sexual abuse is known to cause adverse effects for its victims, one of them is problem sexual behavior. Problem sexual behavior is sexually oriented behavior done by child aged 12 years or younger and it is developmentally inappropriate or could be harmful for themselves and others. One of the longer term effect is the victim may become sexual offenders if not treated seriously. One of the intervention that can treat problem sexual behavior is Trauma Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or TF-CBT. This review aims to determine the effectivity of TF-CBT. The studies are collected from Science Direct, ProQuest, Sage Journal, Springer Link, Scopus, EBSCO and several repository. The inclusion criteria used are the studies must be RCT, subjects are child victim of sexual abuse who showed problem sexual behavior, the behavior is measured with CSBI (Child Sexual Behavior Inventory) and used TF-CBT as intervention. The result shows that the use of TF-CBT may not be effective for decreasing problem sexual behavior. There are some factors that affect the effectivity of TF-CBT, such as participant’s age, cognition, intensity of trauma and other psychological disorders. However, TF-CBT is potential for decreasing problem sexual behavior because it is directive and uses various behavioral strategies.

Abstract

This study explores virtual identities, specifically gender swapping and sexuality, among Twitter’s original character role-players. Internet anonymity enables freedom of expression. The research focuses on how individuals adopt different gender identities and engage with both genders virtually. Using qualitative intrinsic case study method, this study outlines motivations, experiences, and impacts of gender swapping and sexuality from dramaturgy and symbolic interactionism perspective. Findings reveal that female participants who engage in gender swapping feel liberated from gender norms and construct stronger identity as dominant males. They prefer same-sex relationships based on fujoshi preferences but often avoid commitments. Virtual identity influenced by relationships and communities, by adeptly managing information to maintain specific impressions. The research’s implications uncover increased knowledge and self-expression that is difficult in real life, also highlights negative effects on mental health. This research provides a deeper understanding of the complexities of virtual identity and its influence on individuals' real lives.

Abstract

Objective: The Readiness for Change Questionnaire was created to assess readiness and ability to face new things and change. It is still being determined whether this scale is also relevant in the context of governance changes in higher education, especially in Indonesia. Method: This study examines the scale of cross-cultural adaptation and assesses the modified version using higher education as an organizational context. Translation, synthesis, back-translation, engagement with subject experts, and an emphasis on readability were all part of the thorough scale adaptation process by the International Test Commission (ITC) Guidelines for Translating and Adapting Test. The researchers performed an anonymous self-administered survey and gathered 534 responses from two samples of non-academic staff working in different universities. Results: Results showed that the scale, consisting of 25 questions divided into four subscales, had acceptable fit indices using CFA and excellent internal consistency. Novelty: The findings show that the scale is appropriate for assessing organizational readiness for change and may contribute to research and practical implications for higher education institutions experiencing governance changes.

Abstract

Mass psychogenic illness is a phenomenon that occurs every year in Indonesia, mainly in schools and factories. In the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, this phenomenon is classified as dissociative disorders. However, the Indonesian diagnostic manual of mental disorders (the PPDGJ) classified the phenomenon as a conversion disorder. The confounding diagnosis will likely result in less effective and less humane interventions. This study aims to determine the symptoms experienced by individuals experiencing mass psychogenic illness, therefore contributing to the current literature regarding the proper diagnostic of the spirit possession. Samples (N=55) were assessed using the Dissociative Disorder Interview Schedule based on DSM-5. The Beck Depression Inventory and Wong-Baker Face Rating Scale are also used to supplement the data. Findings indicate that the subjects fit the diagnostic criterion of several disorders, namely somatization (experienced by 98.18% of individuals), major depression (49%), trance (69%), childhood physical abuse (35%), and borderline personality disorder (47.2%). However, only 14.54% of subjects fulfilled the diagnostic criterion of dissociative amnesia, 7.27% for diagnostic fugue, 3.63% for depersonalization/derealization, 5% for dissociative identity disorder, 11% for other specified and unspecified dissociative disorder. These findings showed that mass psychogenic illness is likely the manifestation of distinct and separate mental disorders, notably that of somatization disorder, trance, borderline personality disorder, and major depressive disorder, and exclusively those of dissociative disorders.

Abstract

As change is unavoidable, there is a need for reform in higher education systems across the world. One’s openness to change is one of the many elements contributing to an effective change. There is a need for a capable instrument to assess openness to change within the higher education sector. This study investigates the scale developed by Miller for use in Indonesia. The research matches its findings with the pioneering work, offering insight into the CFA analyses performed. The findings revealed results on scale adaptation, substantiating its strong validity, internal consistency, and reliability. The scale contributes considerably to the academic discourse around transformational dynamics within higher education institutions by providing a tangible method for assessing their openness to change.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract. Social media has become an inseparable part of Gen Z’s life. However, a number of previous research documented contradictive findings regarding social media use and its effect on psychological wellbeing among adolescents. This study aimed to investigate the role of self-esteem, social media dependency, and motives of social media use in the psychological well-being of Gen Z adolescents. A total of 647 students (aged 12 to 21 years, comprising 282 males and 365 females) participated and completed several self-reported instruments, including the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), the Online Social Network Dependency Scale (OSNDS), the Social Media Usage Motives Scale (SMUMS), and the Mental Health Inventory (MHI-18). Results from Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) showed that self-esteem was a positive predictor, while social media dependency was a negative predictor of psychological well-being in Gen Z adolescents. Social media dependency was also found significantly mediate the link between self-esteem and psychological well-being. In addition, motives for social media use were a significant moderator of the relationship between social media dependency and psychological well-being, in which a maintaining existing relationship motive intensified this association, while a meet new people and socializing motive weakened it. These findings implied the importance of an intervention targeting selfesteem in understanding the motive behind adolescents’ use of social media so that their consumption of social media could be appropriate and offer benefits for their psychological well-being.Keywords: gen Z; psychological well-being; self-esteem; social media dependency; social media use motive.
