Abstract

Abstract. The occurrence of risky actions by the community and the inconsistencies of government policies regarding Covid-19 pandemic led to community non-compliance with the health protocols. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of unrealistic optimism bias and public trust to the government towards non-compliance behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study was a quantitative study with data collection procedures using the survey method. The three questionnaires i.e. the unrealistic optimism bias, public trust in government, and non-compliance behavior, have been adopted from the previous studies and validated using CVI for the purpose of this study. There were 740 participants ranging between 18-25 years old. Stepwise regression analysis was conducted. The resultsshowed that the unrealistic optimism bias and public trust to the government simultaneously contributed to non-compliance behavior in which the unrealistic optimism bias had the highest contribution to noncompliance behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study implies that the government and intervention agencies need to pay attention to the factors of cognitive biases by the individuals and public trust issues for improving the public adherence to the health protocols.Keywords: COVID-19 pandemic; non-compliance behavior; public trust in government; unrealisticoptimism bias.

Abstract

Cumulating evidence suggests that high levels of spirituality can foster integrity. However, integrity violations remain prevalent, even among populations with strong religious beliefs. This study collected data from 2,800 students across 17 academic institutions in Indonesia and Malaysia to examine the relationship between their levels of spirituality and their perceptions of academic cheating. Although both countries have predominantly Muslim populations, they differ in how religious practices are implemented. The results revealed a significant correlation between spirituality and perceptions of cheating in both countries. However, one aspect of spirituality in Indonesia diverged from the broader concept, underscoring the complex and nuanced relationship between spirituality and religion. While these concepts often overlap, they also exhibit distinct differences. Such differences in spirituality and religiosity may help explain the paradox of integrity issues, including the prevalence of cheating within religious communities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji menguji validitas skala digital literacy yang dikembangkan Wan Ng pada individu dewasa awal. Digital literacy merupakan suatu kemampuan yang dibutuhkan individu untuk beraktivitas pada dunia digital secara optimal, khususnya pada individu dewasa awal. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah menggunakan metode survei dengan memberikan kuesioner online pada partisipan yang telah ditentukan kriterianya. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa terdapat validitas pada skala digital literacy yang dikembangkan Wan Ng pada individu dewasa awal. Berdasarkan analisis kriteria eigenvalues terdapat 3 faktor yang dihasilkan dengan rentang nilai factor loading 0.49 dan -0.88, serta terdapat 1 item yang perlu dieliminasi. Berdasarkan analisis kriteria fixed number terdapat 1 faktor yang dihasilkan dengan rentang nilai factor loading 0.48-0.78 dan item yang dieliminasi berjumlah 3. Meskipun item digital literacy sudah memenuhi kriteria validitas, Studi lanjut diperlukan untuk menyempurnakan alat ukur digital literacy

Abstract

Berkembangnya teknologi kini memudahkan kehidupan manusia untuk berinteraksi. Salah satunya adalah kemudahan dalam mencari pasangan dengan mengakses situs perkencanan daring. Proses interaksi yang terjadi tidak berbeda dengan interaksi secara luring karena membutuhkan satu aspek penting yaitu kepercayaan (trust). Maka dari itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses trust-building pada interaksi pengguna situs perkencanan daring. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan tipe penelitian studi kasus intrinsik yang dilakukan pada 3 partisipan pengguna situs perkencanan daring baik yang sudah tidak menggunakan maupun masih menggunakan hingga saat ini. Situs perkencanan daring yang digunakan oleh partisipan antara lain seperti Tinder, Secret, dan Whisper. Hasil analisis data pada penelitian ini menunjukkan beberapa tema yang muncul yaitu, berawal dari motif/intensi, adanya strategi self-presentation dalam berinteraksi, sehingga feeling connected, intimacy, dan berakhir dengan terbangunnya trust dengan orang lain.

Abstract

Selain digunakan untuk berkomunikasi, sosial media juga digunakan untuk mencari hiburan hingga menghabiskan waktu. Namun, penggunaan Instagram yang terlalu lama ditemukan memiliki pengaruh tidak langsung terhadap self-esteem penggunanya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji perbandingan sosial dalam memediasi hubungan antara intensitas penggunaan media sosial Instagram terhadap self-esteem dari emerging adult. Penelitian ini melibatkan 259 responden yang merupakan emerging adult (18-25 tahun) pengguna Instagram di Indonesia. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Intensitas penggunaan media sosial Instagram diukur menggunakan Social Networking Time Use Scale (SONTUS), self-esteem diukur menggunakan Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, dan perbandingan sosial diukur menggunakan Social Comparison Scale. Analisis data menggunakan bootstrap melalui aplikasi Jamovi 1.6.23. Hasil menunjukkan adanya hubungan tidak langsung antara intensitas penggunaan Instagram terhadap self-esteem penggunanya yang dimediasi oleh upward social comparison.

Abstract

Toleransi ambiguitas dan usia diduga memiliki hubungan interaktif yang berpengaruh terhadap rasa ingin tahu individu. Penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa usia berpengaruh secara negatif terhadap rasa ingin tahu individu, namun ada juga beberapa penelitian yang menunjukkan hasil yang tidak konsisten. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) apakah ada hubungan antara toleransi ambiguitas dan rasa ingin tahu; dan (2) apakah usia berperan sebagai moderator pada hubungan antara toleransi ambiguitas dan rasa ingin tahu. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode cross-sectional survei secara daring. Sebanyak 196 partisipan berusia diatas 18 tahun (M=29.4; SD=12.5) menjawab pertanyaan dari skala Curiosity and Exploration Inventory-II dan skala Multiple Stimulus Types Ambiguity Tolerance-II. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan teknik moderated regression analysis dengan metode bootstrap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa toleransi ambiguitas memiliki efek yang kuat dengan rasa ingin tahu secara signifikan. Sedangkan, hasil moderasi antara toleransi ambiguitas dan usia memiliki efek yang tidak signifikan.

Abstract

Program Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka merupakan program Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka yang memberikan kesempatan bagi mahasiswa untuk melakukan pertukaran pelajar di perguruan tinggi lain di Indonesia. Ketika mengikuti PMM, mahasiswa perlu beradaptasi secara psikologis dan sosio-kultural terhadap lingkungan barunya. Namun, penelitian mengenai adaptasi akademik masih cukup terbatas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mempelajari gambaran adaptasi akademik yang dilalui oleh mahasiswa PMM. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Partisipan diperoleh melalui teknik purposive sampling. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur dan Focus Group Discussion. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan mahasiswa melaporkan dapat beradaptasi dengan baik terhadap lingkungan akademik barunya. Meskipun begitu, ditemukan juga permasalahan-permasalahan yang datang dari perbedaan sistem perkuliahan di PT tujuan.  Permasalahan adaptasi akademik yang ditemukan di penelitian ini dapat dijadikan bahan acuan untuk perguruan tinggi dalam mengakomodir kelancaran adaptasi mahasiswa PMM terhadap lingkungan akademik baru mereka.

Abstract

Mass psychogenic illness is a phenomenon that occurs every year in Indonesia, mainly in schools and factories. In the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, this phenomenon is classified as dissociative disorders. However, the Indonesian diagnostic manual of mental disorders (the PPDGJ) classified the phenomenon as a conversion disorder. The confounding diagnosis will likely result in less effective and less humane interventions. This study aims to determine the symptoms experienced by individuals experiencing mass psychogenic illness, therefore contributing to the current literature regarding the proper diagnostic of the spirit possession. Samples (N=55) were assessed using the Dissociative Disorder Interview Schedule based on DSM-5. The Beck Depression Inventory and Wong-Baker Face Rating Scale are also used to supplement the data. Findings indicate that the subjects fit the diagnostic criterion of several disorders, namely somatization (experienced by 98.18% of individuals), major depression (49%), trance (69%), childhood physical abuse (35%), and borderline personality disorder (47.2%). However, only 14.54% of subjects fulfilled the diagnostic criterion of dissociative amnesia, 7.27% for diagnostic fugue, 3.63% for depersonalization/derealization, 5% for dissociative identity disorder, 11% for other specified and unspecified dissociative disorder. These findings showed that mass psychogenic illness is likely the manifestation of distinct and separate mental disorders, notably that of somatization disorder, trance, borderline personality disorder, and major depressive disorder, and exclusively those of dissociative disorders.

Abstract

Background: Changes in the financial governance status of more autonomous state universities require readiness for change in the management of state universities. Academic staff is an HR group that carries out administrative tasks in the state university’s management. The first factor of readiness for change individuals must have is to know that change will be beneficial for themselves and the organization. Aim: This study aims to determine the role of perceived impact of change on readiness for change in academic staff. Method: This research is a quantitative study with 254 subjects selected using Holt’s RFCQ adaptation scale and Vakola’s perceived impact of change adaptation scale as research instruments. The data were analyzed using a simple linear regression analysis technique via IBM SPSS. Findings: Perceived impact of change is proven to affect readiness for change in academic staff. If members perceive that change is positive and beneficial for themselves and their organization, they will be more ready to accept change. In addition, demographic factors have no effect on readiness for change.

Abstract

Competitive state anxiety influences cognitive, emotional, and athlete behaviour while they have to perform perfectly in a competition. This study was conducted to analyze the effect of Mindfulness Sports Performance Enhancement (MSPE) training on competitive state anxiety of karate athletes in Surabaya. The research method used is quantitative with an experimental design. The sample in this study was 28 Karate athletes from Dojo Shiroite and INKAI in Surabaya. Those samples were selected using quota sampling. The intervention provided was an MSPE intervention adapted from Mindfulness Sports Performance Enhancement (MSPE). The data collection method was carried out using a competitive state anxiety scale adapted from The Revised Competitive State Anxiety Inventory – 2 with 17 items. The data were analyzed by paired t-test with SPSS 26. The result showed a significant decrease in the average competitive state anxiety by 9.25 points. This condition is supported by the decrease in cognitive anxiety and somatic anxiety dimension by 7.76 and 3.86 points. The decrease was also followed by an increase in the self-confidence dimension by 8.21 points. The findings in this study show the importance of continuous mental mindfulness training to improve athlete performance by overcoming competitive state anxiety. This research can also be a reference for practitioners and researchers. MSPE training can be developed as an effort to improve or solve problems related to an athlete's condition.
