Abstract

Jatinangor Urban Farming (JUF) faces challenges in enhancing brand awareness despite utilizing Instagram as a marketing platform. This study aims to analyze the implementation of social media marketing strategies in increasing brand awareness for Jatinangor Urban Farming through Instagram and to formulate strategies for optimization. The research employs a qualitative approach with SWOT analysis to evaluate internal and external factors influencing digital marketing strategies. The findings indicate that Jatinangor Urban Farming has implemented social media marketing based on the dimensions of online communities, interaction, sharing of content, accessibility, and credibility. However, its execution remains suboptimal. The brand awareness level of Jatinangor Urban Farming is still at the brand recognition stage, necessitating additional strategies to enhance brand recall. The SWOT analysis positions JUF in Quadrant I, signifying strong internal capabilities and significant external opportunities. Therefore, the recommended strategies include strengthening brand identity through educational and interactive content, optimizing data-driven digital marketing strategies to enhance monetization and marketing efficiency, and structuring content management through a content guideline and content calendar. By implementing a more structured strategy, Jatinangor Urban Farming is expected to enhance its brand awareness, visibility and competitiveness in the market.

Abstract

Women's international mobility in agriculture-based rural areas represents a socio-economic transformation that reflects evolving gender roles within farming households. This study investigates the historical trajectory and underlying dynamics of female international migration as a livelihood diversification strategy in the Cikalong District, Tasikmalaya Regency, Indonesia. Utilizing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with former migrant workers, labor brokers, local officials, and community leaders. Findings indicate that economic hardship was the primary driver of women's mobility. Initially confined to domestic roles, women began assuming the role of primary income earners by migrating abroad, predominantly as domestic workers. The success of early migrants catalyzed further migration, creating a self-reinforcing cycle. Beyond enhancing household economic resilience, this mobility reshaped intra-household gender relations. The study emphasizes the strategic role of women in rural livelihood systems and calls for inclusive, gender-sensitive rural development policies.

The findings of this study show that 58% of small agro-industry entrepreneurs have successfully adopted better technology than the generation before them, which has had positive implications for increasing their business profitability over the past three years. Policies designed can focus on improving the quality of corporate capital (economic capital, social capital and human capital) which is expected to be able to bridge the problems faced by small agro-industries in rural areas.

Abstract

While the number of female-gendered small industry entrepreneurs is growing, research in this area has not kept pace. This article critically reviews the current situation of women entrepreneurs in rural areas. We analyze the social, cultural, organizational and individual barriers that women entrepreneurs may face. This study interviewed 23 women entrepreneurs who own small agro-industries in Tasikmalaya district, a pilot project area for small agro-industry development in West Java. Our findings show that self efficacy is a common individual problem among rural women entrepreneurs, in addition to their suboptimal organizational capacity. Meanwhile, social and cultural barriers are currently minimal in rural areas. To improve self-efficacy, a personal approach is needed in the form of training, mentoring, and social support. Meanwhile, to improve organizational capacity, it is necessary to strengthen structural aspects such as management, technology, networking, and financing. We argue for the need to adopt more critical approaches, such as feminist discourse analysis and critical socio-technological perspectives to inform future research, and explain various phenomena related to women's entrepreneurship that have not been adequately studied.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Lengkong Village, Cipeundeuy District, Subang Regency, West Java Province, from February to April 2024 with the aim of analyzing the social and economic impact of rubber plantations on the surrounding community. The sampling method used was purposive sampling, namely selecting 10-15% of the available sample population. A total of 15 tapping workers were selected as samples, which is 10% of the total 150 tapping workers in Lengkong Village. Meanwhile, 15 households around the rubber plantation were also taken as samples, in line with the number of tapping workers sampled. The main data analysis was carried out using a qualitative approach, where the results of interviews and observations were recorded in detail in field notes, which were then analyzed descriptively. The research results show that there is a socio-economic impact from the presence of rubber plantations for the surrounding community, both tapping workers and non-tapping workers. This impact can be seen through increasing welfare through the various facilities provided. These facilities include housing, health services, education, places of worship, sports facilities, employment opportunities and sources of income. All facilities provided by the company are intended for the general benefit of the surrounding community, marking mutually beneficial cooperation between the rubber plantation company and the surrounding community.

Abstract

Agro-small industry entrepreneurs as a social group are integrated into a social structure. In sociological studies, the presence of this group of entrepreneurs also shows their social structure. To better understand the social reality of entrepreneurs in carrying out their production processes, the concept of Production Mode is known. This research aims to explore the production modes that occur in the next generation of small agro industries in East Priangan. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected by interviewing four owners of the next generation of small agro industries who have survived across generations. Thematic analysis with N-vivo version 12 software was used to analyze the data obtained. This research reveals that there is more than one mode of production that coexists in agro-small industries in East Priangan, so the concept of social formation is more appropriate to use. The social formations most commonly found in the third generation are "modern commercial hybrid" and "commercial".

Abstract

This study aims to explain the definition of agricultural entrepreneurship and the skills that farmers must have for their agricultural development. Furthermore, this study tries to look at the obstacles faced by farmers and their implications for agricultural policy in general. This study used a literature study approach related to fruition, focusing interest on entrepreneurship and agricultural skills. In this study, researchers have provided an overview of the main topics in the agricultural entrepreneurship literature and suggested that some limited trends appear in the literature, such as the diversification of farming and agricultural entrepreneurship. The author found that there are some critical, reflective, and reflexive materials, and we see that there are some technical things that we take from the non-agricultural business sector for use in the agricultural sector, especially those related to developing the entrepreneurial capacity of farmers. The author concludes that the main challenge for the agricultural sector is to provide opportunities for farmers to be able to develop their entrepreneurial skills. This will certainly require support from various stakeholders, namely their role in providing coaching and mentoring for farmers, as well as opening economic access for farmers so that they can optimize their potential for farm development. It is hoped that this will be a contribution to this research for the agricultural sector in Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper aims to find out the actors that play the most role in the entrepreneurial ecosystem of young farmers in West Java. The analysis tool used is centrality analysis based on network theory, using the Gephi 9.2 application. Informants and respondents in this study consisted of actors involved in the entrepreneurial ecosystem of young farmers, including young farmers, government, financial institutions, universities, markets and social communities. The determination of informants is determined purposively, namely by looking at their role and involvement in the business process of young horticultural farmers, spread across Garut Regency, Cianjur Regency and Bandung Regency, West Java. Indicators of the degree of centrality, centrality of proximity, centrality of intermediaries and Eigencentrality, show that social societies are actors that consistently interact and connect a lot with young farmers. The social community acts as a liaison actor between young farmers and other agricultural stakeholders, always providing positive motivation and encouragement for farmers in agricultural activities. Social community actors must remain involved in horticultural agribusiness in West Java, especially champion farmers, community leaders and agricultural communities. Social community actors not only provide support in the aspects of labor and social capital, but become important actors in creating a conducive and productive farming climate, thus becoming an attraction for the younger generation of agriculture.
