Abstract

Masyarakat desa Pasar Rawa Kec. Gebang, Kab. Langkat Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Umumnya berprofesi sebagai nelayan, dan petani. Pemulihan hutan mangrove di desa Pasar rawa Kecamatan Gebang semakin luas. Saat ini telah mencapai 1.053 hektar. Luas hutan mangrove 1.053 ha ini cukup untuk membudidayakan lebah madu hutan bakau. Pokok Permasalahannya adalah ketersedian nectar dari bunga pohon mangrove yang melimpah belum dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat. Tujuan dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk menumbuhkan keinginan masyarakat untuk membudiayakan lebah madu hutan bakau sebagai sumber pendapatan masyarakat. Metode yang diguanakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah ceramah dan diskusi. Hasil dan pembahasan masyarakat megerti membudidayakan lebah madu hutan bakau sebagai sumber pendapaan. Kesimpulan dengan membudidayakan lebah madu hutan mangrove ini masyarakat memiliki sumber pendapatan yang baru, terpeliharanya hutan mangrove yang sangat penting bagi kelestarian lingkungan hidup.

Abstract

The increasing number of motorized vehicles in urban areas significantly impacts air quality and public health. Gasoline engine emissions, including CO, HC, and NOx, contribute to pollution issues such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and secondary organic aerosols (SOAs). Understanding these factors is crucial for developing effective emission control strategies. This study investigates the effect of ethanol-blended gasoline on vehicular emissions, focusing on CO, HC, and NOx. The research aims to optimize fuel mixtures to reduce harmful emissions while considering environmental and health impacts. The study uses a quantitative experimental design, combining laboratory tests with field trials on 10 vehicles under controlled conditions. Results show that ethanol-blended fuels significantly reduced CO emissions, from 2.4 g/km (E0) to 1.5 g/km (E30). A moderate reduction was observed in HC emissions, from 0.55 g/km (E0) to 0.40 g/km (E30). A slight decrease in NOx emissions was noted. Ethanol's oxygen content improves combustion efficiency, reducing CO and HC emissions, but may slightly increase NOx due to combustion temperature changes. This study highlights the potential of ethanol as an environmentally friendly fuel alternative, with further research needed to address NOx-related challenges

Abstract

This Community Partnership Service is a concept of applying entrepreneurship courses in the Entrepreneurship Management Study Program at the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Al Azhar based on the Community Empowerment Program, it is expected that the Management Study Program will know the importance of entrepreneurship in improving business and continue to the community in Manunggal Village, Deli Serdang Regency. The method that will be used is the experimental learning method and the concept of literature study on entrepreneurship and SWOT Analysis. The delivery is in the form of lectures, group discussions so that people can actively participate in this activity. In the training, the material presented: The concept of entrepreneurship. After the activity was carried out, it was found that the participants were quite responsive and enthusiastic in following the training material, as evidenced by the many questions asked by the participants and there was a business plan made to make it after the next Batch series at Universitas Al Azhar

Abstract

The availability of clean water in high-density urban areas is a pressing concern, as evidenced by the limited infrastructure and significant water wastage, which can reach 30%. This research aims to optimize the water-saving plumbing system in Brimob Sampali Flat in Medan through an integrative approach of applying modern technology and community education.This research utilizes a mixed method of qualitative (observation, interview) and quantitative (Likert scale questionnaire, digital measurement) data collection. The research process is outlined as follows: first, the existing conditions are analyzed; second, a new plumbing system is designed; third, water-saving technologies are implemented, such as gray water recycling systems and dual flush toilets; fourth, the effectiveness of the system is monitored and evaluated.The study population consisted of 30 residents of the Brimob Sampali Flat in Medan, and their pre- and post-implementation water consumption data were compared to measure the impact of the system.The results indicated that the implementation of the water-efficient plumbing system led to a 33.52% reduction in water consumption, while the integration of the gray water recycling system augmented this reduction by an additional 58.17%.The educational program was found to have enhanced residents' comprehension of water conservation, as evidenced by an average Likert score of 4.03 out of 5. Moreover, satisfaction with the novel system attained an average score of 4.1, signifying a positive response.The novelty of this study lies in the integration of water-saving technologies with an educational program designed specifically for the local Indonesian context, providing a holistic model that can be replicated in other regions to address clean water issues in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

The technical training on determining the ripeness of oil palm fruit aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of students in the field of agriculture, particularly in the management of oil palm crops. The training focuses on teaching the correct techniques for determining the optimal harvesting time to improve production efficiency, ensuring higher quality oil and reducing production losses (losses) typically associated with improper harvesting. This study presents a novel approach by combining theoretical learning on ripeness criteria with hands-on practice in the field. This approach allows students to gain practical experience in oil palm fruit harvesting, using appropriate tools such as egrek, chisel, and others. Unlike traditional training methods that mainly focus on theory, this study involves active participation in fieldwork, providing a comprehensive learning experience. The methodology employed in this community service project combines theoretical lectures and direct field practice. The training begins with lectures on the introduction to oil palm, the botany of the plant, ripeness criteria, and harvesting techniques. Afterward, participants engage in hands-on practice in the field to apply the knowledge of ripeness criteria and harvesting techniques. The harvesting process is then evaluated based on two main factors: production losses and the quality of harvested palm fruit, including oil yield and oil quality. The training proved to be effective in enhancing participants' understanding of the correct ripeness criteria and harvesting techniques, leading to a significant reduction in production losses and an increase in oil quality and yield. Evaluation results indicated a 30% reduction in production losses after implementing the techniques learned in the training. Furthermore, oil extracted from fruits harvested at the ideal ripeness stage showed the highest yield and quality. This training provides a significant contribution to improving the sustainability and productivity of the palm oil industry in Indonesia by enhancing the skills of students and workers in the industry, which ultimately benefits both the economy and the global palm oil market.

Abstract

This community service aims to integrate Fiqh Muamalah Amaliyah based on Maqashid Sharia in addressing inflation as a contemporary economic challenge that affects public welfare. High inflation reduces purchasing power and widens social inequality. Therefore, fiqh muamalah, grounded in Islamic values such as justice (al-‘adl), public benefit (al-maslahah), and protection of wealth (hifzh al-mal), is used as a normative and applicative approach. The program was implemented in Manunggal Village, Deli Serdang, involving women from the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) through three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The service earning methods included interactive lectures, literature study, group discussions, and SWOT analysis to understand the potential and challenges of household businesses. The results showed improved participants’ understanding of Islamic economic principles, the emergence of new business ideas based on Islamic ethics, and the development of practical guidelines for dealing with inflation. Evaluation was conducted through pre-tests, post-tests, and participatory observation, indicating the effectiveness of this approach in fostering Islamic economic awareness at the grassroots level. This community service highlights the importance of fiqh muamalah as an adaptive and contextual solution to local economic dynamics, while also promoting sustainable family economic empowerment.

Abstract

The grafting degree of maleic anhydride onto cyclized natural rubber is generally still low. This is due to the lack of electron density of the maleic anhydride double bond so that its reactivity is low. This research aims to increase the grafting degree by the addition of a styrene comonomer. Grafting of maleic anhydride onto cyclized natural rubber had been performed in an internal mixer 150 oC and 80 rpm in the presence of styrene comonomer. The grafted product was analyzed by Fourier Transform Infra-Red to determine the presence of maleic groups and Differential Scanning Calorimetry and Thermalgravimetric to investigate its thermal properties. Fourier Transform Infra-Red spectra confirmed that the grafted product of maleic anhydride onto Cyclized Natural Rubber formed with absorption at 1700 cm-1, 1850 cm-1 and 700 cm-1. The higher concentration of maleic anhydride reacted the higher of grafting degree of maleic anhydride with the high intensity of absorption at 1700 cm-1 and 1850 cm-1. Differential Scanning Calorimetry spectra showed that the glass transition temperature of maleated Cyclized Natural Rubber products increases, the more comonomer are added the higher the glass transition temperature of the product. Generally, based on the Thermalgravimetric spectra, the thermal properties of grafted product does not change significantly compared to the blank sample.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui formulasi sabun yang optimal dengan penambahan minyak VCO dan minyak kelapa sawit terhadap pH sabun, warna, aroma, tekstur dan penerimaan keseluruhan pada pembuatan sabun susu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap Faktorial yang terdiri dari dua faktor perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Penilaian uji organoleptik yang akan dinilai oleh panelis tidak terlatih sebanyak 30 orang meliputi warna, aroma, tekstur dan penerimaan secara keseluruhan sabun susu kambing. Hasil uji pH sabun dengan berbagai konsentrasi VCO dan kelapa sawit berpengaruh nyata, sedangkan hasil uji pH sabun susu dengan lama pengadukan berbeda tidak nyata. Pada uji organoleptik pengolahan sabun susu dengan berbagai konsentrasi VCO dan minyak kelapa sawit berpengaruh nyata, sedangkan hasil uji organoleptik sabun susu dengan lama pengadukan yang berbeda tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap warna, aroma, tekstur dan penerimaan secara keseluruhan sabun susu kambing. perlakuan yang paling disukai oleh panelis adalah penambahan VCO dan minyak kelapa sawit dengan konsentrasi sebanyak 30% + 70%.
