Abstract

Desa Buahan, Kecamatan Payangan di Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali merupakan desa Agraris dengan sebagian besar penduduknya bermata pencaharian sebagai petani dan peternak. Peternakan khusunya sapi dan babi banyak terdapat di daerah ini dan sangat potensial untuk dikembangkan sebagai sumber energi cadangan khusunya biogas yang diperoleh dari pengolahan limbah peternakan melalui digester anaerobic. Biogas sudah umum digunakan untuk memasak namun penggunaan biogas lebih lanjut untuk pembangkit listrik tenaga biogas perlu dikembangkan dan disebarluaskan. Hal ini disebabkan ketersediaan energI konvensional semakin langka yang menyebabkan harga listrik terus meningkat. Pengabdian ini bertujuan membangun pilot proyek pembangkit listrik tenaga biogas untuk memperkenalkan dan menyebarluaskan teknologi pembangkit listrik tenaga biogas skala rumah tangga yang terjangkau biayanya dan mudah teknologinya di Desa Buahan, Kecamatan Payangan, Gianyar, Bali. Selanjutnya kegiatan ini berhasil membuat pembangkit listrik tenaga biogas dengan kapasitas 1000 watt dengan berbahan bakar biogas dan sudah terpasang dengan baik dilengkapi dengan rumah genset. Penelitian ini juga menghasilkan Kompor biogas tunggu ganda untuk dapat digunakan memasak dengan menggunakan biogas.

Abstract

Biogas produced from cow dung at the Tulus Nadi Livestock Farmer Group in Banjar Gambih, Buahan Village, Payangan District, has been used as cooking fuel. However, the high sulfuric acid (H2S) content of biogas can reduce fuel quality and shorten the life of the biogas stove because H2S causes the components of the biogas stove to rust. This service aims to reduce the H2S content of biogas through the adsorption method, which employs activated carbon as an adsorbent. The service includes practice and instruction in desulfurizer installation, maintenance, and activated carbon regeneration. The test results show that the breeder understands and can use the desulfurizer tool effectively. The desulfurizer can reduce the H2S content to 95.9%, allowing the biogas produced to be used optimally for daily cooking purposes. Keywords: Biogas, adsorption, activated carbon, livestock waste

Abstract

Mouse has been an animal model that is very sensitive towards the Toxoplasma gondii infection. This research infects 30 mice with free-range chicken heart inoculate and the detection of T. gondiiby immunohistochemistry on the infected mice. The purpose of this study is to track T.gondii antigen expression by immune(cyto)histochemistry in mice. Observation over mice was conducted over 10 weeks. After 10 weeks, the mice are examined for its peritoneal fluid by microscopic and immunohistochemistry examination. Continued by the examination of internal organs to track the expression of T.gondii antigens by immunohistochemistry. The study result showed microscopic examinations on peritoneal fluid did not found any cyst or tachyzoites form of T.gondii. Examination of peritoneal fluid by immunohistochemistry was found to detect expressions of T.gondii antigen. Examinations of the mice’s internal organs detected expressions of T.gondii antigen only in the brain by immunohistochemistry examinations.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Kalianget, Seririt, Buleleng, Bali. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi pertumbuhan ukuran lingkar tubuh kerbau yaitu lingkar leher depan, leher belakang, lingkar dada, dan lingkar pinggul kerbau jantan selama penggemukan. Kerbau yang digunakan sebagai objek penelitian adalah kerbau lumpur (Bubalis bubalus) dengan kisaran umur 11-74 bulan. Data diambil dengan teknik sampling jenuh yaitu teknik sampel yang diambil adalah semua kerbau jantan yang digemukkan selama tiga bulan yang memenuhi persyaratan untuk diteliti dari segi kesehatan dan keadaan fisiknya. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara bertahap, pada tahap pertama diukur 20 ekor kerbau jantan, selanjutnya setelah satu bulan dilakukan pengukuran tahap kedua, dan selanjutnya tahap ketiga setelah satu bulan tahap kedua dilakukan. Total data yang diperoleh dari ketiga tahap pengukuran sebanyak 60 buah data. Data yang diperoleh akan dianalisis dengan regresi model power dengan persamaan alometri Y=aXb. Hasil analisis menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan koefisien korelasi yang nyata antara lingkar tubuh kerbau selama penggemukan. Pertumbuhan dimensi lingkar tubuh dimulai dari lingkar dada, kemudian diikut lingkar pinggul, lingkar leher depan, dan lingkar leher belakang. Lingkar leher depan dan belakang potensi pertumbuhannya lebih tinggi dari pada lingkar dadar dan lingkar pinggul. Dengan mengetahui potensi pertumbuhan lingkar tubuh ternak, maka peternak bisa mengetahui kapan sebaiknya ternak tersebut dipotong.

Abstract

Leukocytes, are a crucial component of the immune system, protecting the body from infections such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. This study aims to determine the histological structure of granulocyte white blood cells—basophils, eosinophils, and neutrophils—in young and adult Sumbawa horses. Blood samples were taken from 10 young and 10 adult Sumbawa horses, and histology preparations were made using eosin and methylene blue staining (MDT IndoReagen®). The histological examination and cell counts were conducted using an Olympus CX33 microscope, and data were analyzed with the T-test. The results showed that the histological structure of granulocyte leukocyte in both young and adult Sumbawa horses consisted of round cells with visible cytoplasm and nucleus. Neutrophils have 3-5 lobes with highly variable nucleus shapes and pale pink cytoplasm. The mean number of neutrophils in young Sumbawa horses was 34.20 ± 5.613%, while in adults it was 54.00 ± 6.324%. Eosinophils have a nucleus with two segmented lobes and very clear purplish-red granules in the cytoplasm. The number of eosinophils in young Sumbawa horses was 10.90 ± 2.726%, higher than in adults at 4.10 ± 1.595%. Basophils have very clear purplish-blue granules, with one nucleus filling almost the entire cytoplasm. The mean number of basophils in young Sumbawa horses was 0.20 ± 0.421%, and in adults, it was 0.10 ± 0.316%. In conclusion, the histological images of granulocyte leukocyte in Sumbawa horses show very clear granules, with the number of neutrophils young horses being lower than in adults and eosinophils being higher in young horses than in adults (P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the number of basophils (P>0.05). Further research is needed to compare the histology and agranulocyte white blood cell counts in Sumbawa horses to obtain more comprehensive information.

Abstract

Newcastle Disease (ND) is a viral disease that affects poultry, including broilers. One of the preventive measures is vaccination; however, its effectiveness remains suboptimal, necessitating an alternative approach such as green meniran (Phyllanthus niruri Linn.) extract to enhance antibody titers. This study aims to determine the differences in antibody titers in broilers administered green meniran extract at different doses for two weeks before the ND booster vaccination. The study involved 30 broilers aged 1 to 32 days. The experimental design followed a Completely Randomized Design with a hierarchical pattern consisting of three treatment groups. Serum samples were collected one day before the ND booster vaccination (17 days old), oneweek post-booster vaccination (25 days old), and two weeks post-booster vaccination (32 days old). The serum samples were tested using the Hemagglutination Inhibition (HI) assay. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and regression analysis. ANOVA results showed that the treatment group (P2) receiving green meniran extract at a dose of 6 mg/kg BW/day exhibited a significant increase (P<0.05) compared to the treatment group (P1) receiving 4 mg/kg BW/day. Regression analysis indicated that each group experienced an increase in antibody titers up to the fourth week post-booster vaccination. The findings suggest that different sampling times significantly (P<0.05) influenced the antibody titers formed. In conclusion, green meniran extract as a natural immunostimulator can enhance the immune response in broiler chickens. The combination of green meniran extract at doses of 4 mg/kg BW/day and 6 mg/kg BW/day for two weeks with ND booster vaccination proved to be more effective in increasing ND antibody titers in broilers than vaccination alone.
