Abstract

This study aims to improve students' high-order thinking skills through Project Based Learning in Class VIII at Mts Baitul Makmur, Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu. There were two cycles in this research. Each cycle applies a project-based learning model and consists of four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting.  The research subjects were 26 students of class VIII B at MTs Baitul Makmur Rejang Lebong. Data were collected through observation, field notes, documentation, and tests. The results showed that the implementation of project-based learning could improve students' high-level thinking skills. This is indicated by an increase in the percentage of higher-order thinking skills from pre-cycle (cycle 1 pre-test) of 48% (poor) to 73% (enough) in cycle 1. Then in cycle 2, it increased to 82% (good). Furthermore, there was an increase in student learning outcomes through the Project Based Learning model in Class VIII, Mts Baitul Makmur Rejang Lebong. In the pre-cycle, the average score of students' mathematics tests was 53.54, with classical completeness of 4%. In cycle 1, the average score increased to 76.62, with a classical pass of 73.08%. It increased in cycle 2, the average score being 80.12 with a classical pass of 85%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of relational elementary students in understanding the concept of real numbers. This research is an exploration of the research subject. The subjects of this study were students of MIN 2 Bengkulu Selatan. There is one realistic student in this research. The researcher is the main instrument in this research which is supported by an interview guide and an assignment sheet on the concept of real numbers. The data were analyzed qualitatively. The results of this study are that students with relational abilities can combine separate pieces of information to produce the completion of a task. Therefore it is suggested to teachers and researchers of mathematics education to explore students' mathematical cognitive processes before determining the learning strategies to be carried out.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to test the compatibility of theoretical and empirical structural equations on the relationship between mathematical connection skills, mathematical reasoning, and mathematical problem-solving abilities of junior high school students. This is an ex-post facto research at SMP N 1 Bengkulu City. The population of this study was 296 people, and the sample was selected through a simple random technique of 100 people. Data collection techniques through tests with three research instruments. The three instruments are a mathematical problem-solving ability test, a mathematical reasoning ability test, and a mathematical connection ability test that have been valid and reliable based on expert tests and field tests. The data was tested using the Lisrel 8.8 application program. The results of the study are the P-valued of  0.05, RMSEA ≤ 0.08; NFI ≥ 0.90, NNFI ≥ 0.90; CFI ≥ 0.90; IFI ≥ 0.90; RFI ≥ 0.90; RMR ≤ 0.05; SRMR ≤ 0.05; GFI ≥ 0.90; and 0.8≤AGFI≤0.9; then the fit test for the complete structural equation model is good fit. It means that the theoretical structural equation model is compatible with the empirical structural equation model. Thus, the overall fit test of the model shows a fit model, and it can be concluded that the empirical structural equation model is compatible with the theoretical model.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to Determine the implications of the results of this study on learning mathematics. The research of data were Obtained from observations, interviews with traditional South Bengkulu cake sellers, and interviews with mathematics teachers. The results Showed that various research activities Showed that the elements of mathematics in cultured activities could be implicated in mathematics learning items, namely looking for Certain patterns to Determine the elements in the circle and activities by using cultured Contexts students could find concepts in finding the circle area circle. Students' activities in finding concepts can develop critical and creative thinking and can improve the character of love in the local culture. So that teaching materials using cultural Contexts can be practiced and developed in mathematics learning in junior high schools (SMP) in the 2013 curriculum. This study produces a mathematical syntax with ethnomatematics learning approach.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different stages of geometric thinking in terms of understanding the concept of geometry and formative evaluation. The sampling technique used in this study was simple random sampling, so that a sample of 90 students. The research instrument is a test of the ability to understand geometric concepts, a geometric thinking level test and formative evaluation. The panelist test was carried out using the Aiken and Hoyt formula to determine the validity and consistency of the instrument, while the test was to determine the difficulty index, discriminating power, validity and reliability of the instrument. The data analysis technique used discriminant analysis. The results showed that (1) understanding of geometric concepts significantly affected the differences in students' geometric thinking level achievement, (2) formative evaluation significantly influenced students' geometric thinking level achievement differences, (3) discriminant function equation D = -11.743 + 0.0034X1 + 0.125 X2 to predict the achievement of geometric thinking level, (4) The percentage accuracy of the discriminant function equation in predicting the difference in the achievement of students' thinking level is 98.9%.

Penilaian peserta terhadap pelaksanaan kegiatan PkM sangat baik, dengan skor di atas empat pada skala 5.Abstract: As one of the determinants of student success in understanding number operations, the teacher must understand number operations well so there are no conceptual errors when teaching. This community service program aims to strengthen the understanding of number operations material for teachers in Bengkulu City. The method used is training. The material provided in the training consists of square roots, multiplication, and division of integers. The training participants were 25 teachers at SDN 20 and SDN 60. Evaluation of community service activities using tests and filling out questionnaires. Test to see the activity's success in increasing the teacher's understanding of the number operations material. Questionnaire to see the teacher's response to the activity. The evaluation results showed an increase in teachers' understanding of cube roots and multiplication and division of integers. The greatest increase in teacher understanding of root material at the 3rd power of 0.8 is in the high category. Meanwhile, the increased understanding of other material is in the moderate category. Participants' evaluation of the implementation of community service activities was very good, with a score above four on a scale 5.
