Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning learning model on the mathematical literacy abilities of Class VII students at SMPN 20 Seluma. The research method used in this research is the analytical method. The type of research carried out was a quasi-experimental design with The Nonequivalent Posttest-only Control Group Design. In this study, the population was all class VII students at SMPN 20 Seluma with two sample classes selected using the purposive sampling technique. The sample class is the experimental class, namely Class VIIB, with 15 students with Problem Based Learning and the control class, namely Class VIIA, with 15 students with expository learning. This research instrument is a test of mathematical literacy skills which consists of formulating problems (formulate), applying concepts (employee), and interpreting the results of the solution. This test was carried out after the learning model was applied to both sample tests (posttest). The post-test results in the experimental class with Problem Based Learning obtained an average student score of 71.33, while in the control class with expository learning the average student score was 60.67. Data analysis was carried out using an independent t-test on the post-test results with a significant level of sig. (2-tailed) = 0.046 < significant level (and which shows that there is a difference between the results of mathematical literacy abilities between students with Problem Based Learning and expository learning. The results of the research can be concluded that there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning learning model on the mathematical literacy abilities of Class VII students at SMPN 20 Seluma

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of habits of mind and self efficacy on students' critical thinking. A quantitative approach with an ex post facto method was employed for this research. The population consisted of students from SMP Negeri 6 Bengkulu City totaling 103 students. Instruments utilized included a critical thinking test, a habits of mind questionnaire, and a self efficacy questionnaire. Multiple Linear Regression was employed for data analysis. The results indicate that habits of mind and self efficacy significantly and positively influence critical thinking. The independent variables, habits of mind and self efficacy, explained 26.2% of the variation in the dependent variable, critical thinking, while the remaining 73.8% was influenced by factors not included in the study model

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Project Based Learning model assisted by Student Worksheets (LKPD) on the mathematical literacy skills of tenth-grade students at SMK Negeri 7 Rejang Lebong. The research method used in this study was a quantitative approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The research design used was a post-test-only control group design. In this study, the requirement was that both classes were homogeneous based on the number of students and the average grades of the odd semester final assessment for the 2023/2024 school year at SMK Negeri 7 Rejang Lebong. The test was conducted on statistics material, specifically the measures of central tendency of grouped data. The data collection technique was carried out through tests by providing a test instrument consisting of a set of questions. The test was given in the form of an essay. After conducting validity tests, reliability tests, discrimination index tests, and difficulty index tests, it would be determined whether the question items could be used, used but revised first, or not used. In this study, the t-test was used as the hypothesis test.

Abstract

The capacity to comprehend concepts and reasoning in students when addressing mathematical problems is notably low, resulting in a significant number of students who struggle to independently tackle practice problems. This study aims to examine 1) the effect of the Generative Learning Model on the conceptual understanding abilities of eighth-grade students at SMPN 14 Bengkulu Tengah, 2) the effect of the Generative Learning Model on the mathematical reasoning abilities of eighth-grade students at SMPN 14 Bengkulu Tengah, and 3) the effect of the Generative Learning Model on both the conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning abilities of eighth-grade students at SMPN 14 Bengkulu Tengah. The sampling technique employed is nonprobability sampling, specifically utilizing saturated sampling (census). The data analysis method applied in this study is the MANOVA technique. The findings indicate that 1) the Generative Learning Model significantly influences the conceptual understanding abilities of eighth-grade students at SMPN 14 Bengkulu Tengah, with a significance value of > 0.05, 2) the Generative Learning Model significantly influences the mathematical reasoning abilities of eighth-grade students at SMPN 14 Bengkulu Tengah, with a significance value of > 0.05, and 3) the Generative Learning Model significantly influences both the conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning abilities of eighth-grade students at SMPN 14 Bengkulu Tengah, with a significance value of > 0.05

Abstract

In the current digital era, the implementation of blended online learning faces challenges in understanding students' perceptions and its impact on learning outcomes, particularly in Abstract Algebra. This issue is crucial to investigate, as the shift in teaching methods can influence the comprehension of complex algebraic concepts. This research aims to investigate students' perceptions and learning outcomes in abstract algebra courses of blended and asynchronous online learning. The research method used was quasi-experiment. The subject of 27 students is available without being randomly selected. Research instruments using questionnaires and tests. The test consists of eight essay questions. The questionnaire includes 27 closed-ended questions and six open-ended questions. The results showed that students perceived Abstract Algebra subjects as difficult or very difficult. Most students needed help to study the module due to material difficulty thoroughly. In addition, asynchronous online learning is ineffective compared to blended online learning. All students wanted the tutorial asynchronous and synchronous combined (blended online learning). Most students carry out online learning at home using a smartphone device. Students who use blended online learning obtain significantly higher learning outcomes than students who only take it asynchronously.
