Abstract

Gelatin is a substance resulting from the partial hydrolysis of collagen consisting of animal cartilage, skin, and bones from water-soluble polypeptides. The problem formulation in this study is what DNA analysis methods can be used to detect pig DNA in food gelatin. This study aimed to collect, review, and conclude information regarding the most widely used DNA analysis method to detect pig DNA in food gelatin. From the results of the literature study, it can be concluded that the most widely used extraction method in the analysis of porcine DNA in food gelatin is the DNeasy® Mericon Food kit extraction method for good purity results, there is the foodproof® III Kit method, the universal Wizard KIT Promega®, the DNeasy® Mericon Food kit, and the Column based FavorPrep™ Food DNA Extraction Kit. The pig DNA analysis method is widely used in conventional PCR. Sensitivity, fast testing time, and gh acporcine gelatin sample was identified by the appearance of a band on the electrophoresis results. Abstract

Indonesia merupakan produsen ikan terbesar dari produk kelautan dan budidaya air tawar. Sisik ikan merupakan limbah ikan yang telah banyak dipelajari pemanfaatannya, salah satunya untuk pembuatan gelatin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh suhu ekstraksi yang berbeda terhadap kualitas gelatin sisik ikan air laut (Lates calcarifer/kakap putih), dan ikan air tawar (Oreochromis niloticus/nila merah). Metode penelitian ini adalah membandingkan kualitas gelatin dengan ekstraksi menggunakan teknologi sonikasi dengan variasi suhu ekstraksi, yaitu 55, 60, dan 65 °C. Gelatin dari sisik kakap putih dengan suhu ekstraksi sonikasi pada 60 °C memiliki rendemen tertinggi sebesar 14,79%, dengan kadar air 10,61%, kadar abu 1,79%, pH 4,86, viskositas 4,41cps, dan kandungan Cu dan Zn masing-masing sebesar 4,61, dan 2,99 mg/kg. Gelatin dari sisik nila merah dengan suhu ekstraksi sonikasi pada 65 °C memiliki rendemen tertinggi sebesar 11,62% dengan kadar air sebesar 9,05%, kadar abu sebesar 2,70%, pH 5,09, viskositas 1,61cps, dan kandungan Cu dan Zn masingmasing sebesar 11,88 mg/kg dan 2,59 mg/kg. Hasil karakterisasi gelatin kedua sisik ikan tersebut mengikuti standar SNI dan GMIA. Rendemen gelatin sisik ikan air laut (14,79%) mempunyai nilai lebih besar dibandingkan gelatin sisik ikan air tawar (11,62%). Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa kedua jenis ikan tersebut menghasilkan gelatin yang memenuhi syarat standar dan suhu ekstraksimemberikan pengaruh rendemen terhadap hasil gelatin kedua ikan. AbstractIndonesia is the largest fish producer derived from marine products and freshwater aquaculture. Fish scales are fish waste that has been studied for its utilization, one of which is for gelatine manufacture. This study aims to determine the effect of different extraction temperatures on the quality of gelatine scales of seawater fish (Lates calcarifer/white snapper), and freshwater fish (Oreochromis niloticus/red tilapia). This research method compares gelatine quality with extraction using sonication technology with extraction temperature variations, namely 55, 60, and 65 °C. Gelatine from white snapper scales with extraction temperature by sonication at 60 °C has the highest yield of 14.79%, with water content of 10.61%, ash content of 1.79%, pH of 4.86, viscosity of 4.41cps, and content of Cu and Zn respectively of 4.61, and 2.99 mg/kg. Gelatine from red tilapia scales with extraction temperature by sonication at 65 °C has the highest yield of 11.62%, with water content of 9.05%, ash content of 2.70%, pH of 5.09, the viscosity of 1.61cps, and content of Cu and Zn was 11.88 mg/kg and 2.59 mg/kg, respectively. The results of this study can conclude that the two types of fish produce gelatine that meets the standard requirements, and the extraction temperature affects the gelatine yield of the two fish.

Abstract

The development of analog curcumin compounds by modifying the structure of monocarbonyl into an analog indazole of curcumin (AIC) is recognized to have a great potential. Still, only a few reports have been available. Rarely occurring in nature, indazole molecules are typically created through chemical synthesis. Therefore, this study aimed to synthesize six new AIC compounds with a particular focus on testing in vitro antioxidant activity using the DPPH and FRAP methods, as well as anti-inflammatory activity using the protein denaturation method. The results showed that the compounds formed had high anti-inflammatory activity but low antioxidant activity. All synthesis products produced higher anti-inflammatory activity than standard diclofenac sodium and curcumin compounds. Specifically, compound 3a showed the highest anti-inflammatory activity with an IC50 = 0.548 ± 0.062 μM. Therefore, it was concluded that compound 3a has the potential to be further studied for anti-inflammatory activity.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penggunaan minyak alami pada lilin sebagai aromaterapi dapat mengatasi penyebaran demam berdarah dengue (DBD). Pelatihan tentang pembuatan lilin aromaterapi sebagai antinyamuk sehingga masyarakat dapat mencegah gigitan dan perkembangbiakan nyamuk dengue serta memproduksi produk kesehatan secara mandiri. Mitra merupakan 20 peserta ibu-ibu PKK Perumahan Grand Metro Sodong 2 RW 9, Tigaraksa Tangerang. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang pentingnya kesadaran kesehatan lingkungan dan pencegahan penyakit DBD dengan memanfaatkan tanaman sekitar menjadi produk kesehatan yang bermanfaat serta bernilai ekonomis. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dalam bentuk ceramah edukasi dan pelatihan pembuatan lilin aromaterapi. Pelaksanaan pelatihan dibagi menjadi beberapa tahap yaitu pretest, penyampaian materi, pelatihan, uji hedonik, serta posttest. Pelaksanaan kegiatan telah berlangsung sangat lancer dan baik. Semua peserta sangat antusias selama pemaparan materi dan pelatihan pembuatan lilin aromaterapi. Hasil uji hedonis terpilih lilin aromaterpi minyak sereh yang terpilih sebesar 45% responden. Terjadi peningkatan pemahaman para peserta dilihat dari nilai test pada data interprestasi tinggi (nilai ≥ 80) dari 16,67% meningkat menjadi 36,67%.Abstract: Using natural oils in candles as aromatherapy can overcome the spread of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). Training on making aromatherapy candles as mosquito repellent so people can prevent bites and breeding dengue mosquitoes and independently produce health products. Partners are PKK mothers of Grand Metro Sodong 2 RW 9 Housing, Tigaraksa, Tangerang. This activity aims to increase public understanding of the importance of environmental health awareness and prevention of dengue disease by utilizing surrounding plants in health products that are useful and economically valuable. This service activity is done through educational lectures and training in aromatherapy candles. The implementation of training is divided into several stages, namely, pretest, material delivery, training, hedonic test, and posttest. The implementation of activities has been very smooth and good. All participants were very enthusiastic during the presentation of the material and the training on making aromatherapy candles. The results of the hedonic test selected lemongrass oil aromatherapy candles, which were selected by 45% of respondents. There was an increase in the participants' understanding, as seen from the test scores on high interpretation data (≥ 80) from 16.67% to 36.67%.

Abstract

Background: Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) jurusan Farmasi ditargetkan menghasilkan lulusan tenaga farmasi yang siap pakai di dunia kerja untuk membantu pekerjaan tenaga teknik kefarmasian dan Apoteker di Apotek, Klinik atau Rumah Sakit. Salah satu mata pelajaran untuk meningkatkan kompetensi pemahaman senyawa obat dengan adalah kimia, dimana salah satu fokus pembelajarannya mengenali materi terkait atom-atom penyusun struktur kimia, dan jenis-jenis ikatan penyusun senyawa beserta tatanamanya. Oleh karena itu tujuan pengabdian masyarakat kami kepada siswa SMK Farmasi Swadaya Global School adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman mata pelajaran kimia dengan menggunakan aplikasi-aplikasi kimia di gawai yang dapat membantu mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Pemahaman kompetensi kimia dengan memperkenalkan dan wokshop penggunaan beberapa aplikasi kimia pada proses pembelajaran mata pelajaran Kimia di SMK Farmasi. Metode: Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dalam bentuk ceramah edukasi dan workshop penggunaan aplikasi kimia. Adapun tahapan kegiatan dibagi menjadi beberapa tahap yaitu pretest, penyampaian penyuluhan, workshop, serta posttest. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan untuk menilai pengaruh pemberikan edukasi tentang jenis-jenis aplikasi kimia yang bermanfaat pada siswa SMK Farmasi. Hasil: post-test menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada data interprestasi tinggi (nilai ≥80) dari 6,67,0 % meningkat menjadi 26,67 %, dan terjadi penurunan pada data interprestasi rendah (nilai < 60) dari 76,67 % menurun menjadi 33,33 %. Hal tersebut menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman tentang topik pelatihan. Hasil pengolahan data pre-test dan post-test sebagai profil pengetahuan peserta pemahaman terkait penggunaan aplikasi kimia pada siswa SMK Farmasi. Kesimpulan: Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian edukasi dan pelatihan aplikasi kimia meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap pengenalan senyawa farmasi.

Abstract

Erythrina variegata is one of the plants that have efficacy as thrombolytic agent. Isoflavonoid compound has the potential to accelerate the changes of plasminogen which plays important role in the forming of fibrin, that causes the formation of fibrin clots that can clog the arteries thus causing myocardial infarction. This study aimed to look at the activity of isoflavonoid compounds from Erythrina variegata bark which are expected to be candidates for thrombolytic drugs. This research aims at looking for the interaction of isoflavonoid compounds of bark  which is expected can be thrombolytic drug candidates. The method used in this research was the molecular docking with Autodock Vina and PyMOL software. The results showed that the value of ΔG binding affinity as ligands standard streptokinase -8.4 kcal/mol and isoflavonoid derivatives that have ΔG binding affinity value was lowest for the folitenol -11.5 kcal / mol and orientanol C -11.4 kcal/mol. Can be concluded that isoflavonoid derivatives in Erythrina variegata have better binding potential compared to streptokinase as standard ligands.

Abstract

Marshmallow is a foam that contains aerated sugar, which is stabilized with gelatin or egg albumin. In this research, a Fourier Transform Infra-Red (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy combined with the Chemometrics methods is developed to distinguish the presence of porcine gelatin in marshmallows, which can then be used to identify halal products. This method provides fast and rapid testing of halal products. Marshmallows were made with varying concentrations of bovine and porcine gelatine as the reference. Commercial marshmallows were collected in the online marketplace by purposive sampling. Isolated gelatin was analyzed using the ATR-FTIR spectrophotometer, and data analysis was continued using PCA (Principal Component Analysis). The results showed that bovine gelatin absorbed at a wavenumber of 1638 cm-1, while porcine gelatin produced a sharp absorption at 1697 and 1654 cm-1. The results of PCA analysis show that 100% of bovine gelatin marshmallows (S100) have areas different from marshmallows containing a mixture of porcine gelatin. The PCA results of four samples (A1, A2, A3, and A4) show they are in the same area as 100% bovine gelatin marshmallows (S100). This shows that it is suspected that the four marshmallow samples tested did not contain porcine gelatin. The multivariate regression curve showed that the pattern of linear absorbance changes along with porcine gelatin concentrations with the highest coefficient equation is from wavenumber 1093.97 cm-1.   Keywords: ATR-FTIR, Bovine gelatin, Chemometric, Marshmallow, Porcine gelatin

Abstract

Perkembangan produk halal dewasa ini sangat meningkat seiring dengan semakin tingginya kepedulian Masyarakat, khususnya muslim terhadap pola hidup sehari-hari. Undang-undang tentang Jaminan Produk Halal (JPH) yang mendorong munculnya lembaga-lembaga independent atau yang ditunjuk pemerintah dalam memfasilitasi pengakuan kehalalan produk tersebut. Produk kesehatan halal adalah produk yang dalam pembuatan serta pengemasannya mengikuti proses halal sesuai prosedur yang ditetapkan pemerintah melalui Sistem Jaminan Produk Halal (SJPH). Pengenalan produk obat dan kosmetika halal bertujuan untuk mengedukasi masyarakat dalam menggunakan produk yang digunakan sehari-hari dan menjadi kebutuha utama setelah makanan yang berdampak pada kesehatan tubuh. Penting bagi masyarakat mengetahui kehalalan setiap produk yang mereka gunakan dan menghindari rasa khawatir dari terpaparnya barang syubhat dan najis/haram. Edukasi diberikan dengan cara tatap muka langsung dan menyampaikan informasi lewat brosur serta media sosial, serta dilakukan penilaian sebelum dan setelah peserta mendapatakan edukasi. Berdasarkan hasil yang diamati selama kegiatan berlangsung, terdapat peningkatan pemahaman peserta atau warga terkait informasi dan cara memilih obat dan kosmetika halal, sehingga meningkatkan keamanan dan rasa nyaman bagi warga.

Abstract

The potential of velvet apple plants (Diospyros blancoi A. DC) is large, further research is still needed to determine the anti-inflammatory effect on velvet apple stems (Diospyros blancoi A. DC). The purpose of this study was to determine the anti-inflammatory activity of 96% ethanol extract of velvet apple stems against the reduction of lymphocytes, monocytes, and neutrophils. A total of 25 male white rats of wistar strain were divided into 5 groups, namely the negative control group, the positive control group (Na diclofenac), the group given 96% ethanol extract of velvet apple stems with several doses, namely doses of 125 mg / kg BB, 250 mg / kg BB and 500 mg / kg BB. All test animals were made air bags on days 1 and 3, then on day 6 test preparations and carrageenan induction were carried out. On the 7th day blood was taken through the retroorbital sinuses, then the calculation of lymphocytes, monocytes, neutrophils using a microscope was carried out and the data were analyzed using One-way Anova and Kruskal Wallis test. The results showed a higher percentage of negative lymphocytes, monocytes, and neutrophils compared to the treatment group. In the treatment group, the dose of 500mg/kgBB had a significant decrease in the percentage of lymphocytes, monocytes, neutrophils compared to the negative group (p<0.05) and was not significantly different from the positive control group. Ethanol extract 96% velvet apple stem dose 500 mg/kg body weight has the greatest anti-inflammatory activity against decreasing the percentage of lymphocytes, monocytes, and neutrophils. DC) yang besar, sehingga perlu penelitian lebih lanjut untuk mengetahui efek antiinflamasi pada batang apel beludru (Diospyros blancoi A. DC). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui aktivitas antiinflamasi ekstrak etanol 96% batang apel beludru terhadap penurunan limfosit, monosit, dan neutrofil. Sebanyak 25 ekor Tikus putih jantan galur wistar dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif, kelompok kontrol positif (Na diklofenak), kelompok yang diberi ekstrak etanol 96% batang apel beludru dengan beberapa dosis yaitu dosis 125 mg/kgBB, 250 mg/kgBB dan 500 mg/kgBB. Semua hewan uji dibuat kantung udara pada hari ke-1 dan ke-3, lalu pada hari ke-6 dilakukan pemberian sediaan uji dan induksi karagenan. Pada hari ke-7 diambil darah melalui sinus retroorbitalis, kemudian dilakukan perhitungan sel limfosit, monosit, dan neutrofil menggunakan mikroskop. Data dianalisis menggunakan One-way Anova dan uji Kruskal Wallis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jumlah limfosit, monosit, dan neutrophil kelompok kontrol negatif lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelompok perlakuan. Pada kelompok perlakuan, pemberian ekstrak dosis 500mg/kgBB mengalami penurunan persentase jumlah limfosit, monosit, neutrofil terbesar secara signifikan dibandingkan kelompok negatif (p<0,05) dan tidak berbeda bermakna dengan kelompok kontrol positif. Ekstrak etanol 96% batang apel beludru dosis 500 mg/kg BB memiliki aktivitas antiinflamasi terbesar terhadap penurunan persentase jumah limfosit, monosit, dan neutrophil. Abstract

The low level of awareness among Muslims regarding the use of safe and halal cosmetics necessitates public awareness education. The purpose of this activity is to educate partners to recognize and choose safe and halal cosmetics, while also becoming agents of change for families or relatives by providing accurate information in choosing safe and halal cosmetics. The educational method is carried out in the form of lectures and simulations of halal cosmetic products. The stages include: pre-test, counseling, simulation, and post-test. Evaluation of the activity is carried out by measuring the level of knowledge and achievement of predetermined objectives. Students demonstrated enthusiasm and active involvement during the activity. The analysis results show an increase in knowledge of the Medium Level from before (40%) and after (60%) the activity. In addition, direct observation also indicates an increase in involvement and deeper understanding among participants. Based on this, it is concluded that education through lectures and simulations introducing safe and halal cosmetics can improve the understanding of students at SMK Swadaya Global School in East Jakarta.
