Abstract

Objective: To analyze the level of teachers' work motivation after the COVID-19 pandemic in vocational high schools in East Padang and to examine its implications for improving educational quality. The findings are expected to provide evidence-based recommendations for strengthening teacher motivation as an essential component in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. Method: A descriptive quantitative research design. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire distributed to teachers at vocational high schools in East Padang. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques to determine the level of teachers' work motivation based on several motivational indicators.  Results:  The findings indicate that the overall level of teachers' work motivation reached an achievement score of 78%, which falls within the fairly high category. Responsibility, perseverance, independence, and work enthusiasm contributed positively to teachers' motivation; however, several aspects still require improvement. The study also highlights the important role of school principals in enhancing teachers' motivation through supportive leadership, adequate facilities, and appropriate incentive systems. Strengthening teachers' motivation is expected to improve teaching quality and student learning outcomes, thereby supporting the realization of inclusive and quality education. Novelty: The study provides recent empirical evidence regarding teachers' work motivation in the post-COVID-19 educational context at vocational high schools in Indonesia. Unlike previous studies that primarily examined teacher motivation before or during the pandemic, this research specifically focuses on post-pandemic conditions and emphasizes the importance of school leadership in sustaining teacher motivation. Furthermore, the study links teacher motivation with the achievement of SDG 4, highlighting its contribution to improving educational quality and promoting sustainable educational development.

Abstract

This research is based on the suboptimal fine motor skills of children in activities involving eye and hand coordination, such as sticking, cutting, and arranging objects. This study aims to improve children's fine motor skills through collage activities using fish scales in early childhood at Asyifa Kindergarten, Seberang Musi District, Kepahiang Regency. The study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with the model from Kemmis and Mc Taggart which is implemented in two cycles. The research subjects are children aged 5-6 years at Asyifa Kindergarten, totaling 10 children. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, documentation, and assessment of children's performance. Data analysis is carried out descriptively quantitatively and qualitatively. Before the study was conducted, there was only 1 child who was at the BSH value, after the study, the child's fine motor skills were at 40% because they had not reached the minimum completeness value, so the study was continued with cycle 2. After cycle 2, the child's fine motor skills increased to 80% in the second action, so the study was stopped because they had reached the minimum completeness value. This study concludes that fish scale collages can significantly improve children's fine motor skills, concentration, and interest in learning through engaging media utilizing natural materials from the surrounding environment. Keywords: fine motor skills, collage, fish scales, early childhood, Classroom Action Research.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of a school principal's professional competence in enhancing the quality of instruction and the effectiveness of school management. According to the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture (Permendikdasmen) Number 21 of 2025, professional competence is a crucial attribute that every principal must possess to advance their school. This quantitative descriptive study aims to describe teachers' perceptions regarding the professional competence of principals at state senior high schools (SMA Negeri) in Padang City. The study population consisted of 1,024 teachers from 17 state senior high schools. A sample of 157 teachers was selected using multistage stratified random sampling a combination of cluster sampling and proportional random sampling. Data were collected using a validated and reliable 30-item questionnaire based on a 5-point Likert scale, covering six indicators: curriculum development, student-centered learning, instructional supervision, fostering innovation, entrepreneurial values, and transformational leadership. The results indicate that the learning dimension received a score of 4.56 (competent) and the school development dimension received a score of 4.52 (competent), resulting in an overall average score of 4.54 (competent). These findings suggest that, in general, principals have effectively demonstrated their professional competence, although areas such as curriculum evaluation, literacy strengthening, and collaborative supervision require further reinforcement.

Abstract

Teacher job satisfaction (TJS) is a pivotal determinant of academic quality, influencing teachers' motivation, commitment, and professional performance. This study examined the influence of Principal Supportive Leadership (PSL) and Teacher Work Climate (TWC) on TJS among public junior high school teachers in a city in West Sumatra, Indonesia. A quantitative explanatory design with a survey method was employed. Using the Slovin formula and proportionate stratified random sampling, 330 teachers were selected from a population of 1,898. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires utilizing a five-point Likert scale and analyzed through descriptive statistics, simple linear regression, and multiple linear regression, following classical assumption tests (normality, linearity, and multicollinearity). Results showed that PSL had a significant positive influence on TJS, and TWC also significantly influenced TJS. PSL and TWC simultaneously had a significant positive influence on TJS. These findings indicate that supportive leadership and a positive work climate are complementary factors that enhance teacher job satisfaction. This study contributes empirical evidence to educational leadership research. It offers practical implications for school heads and policymakers in fostering leadership practices and organizational climates that support teacher well-being and sustainable school improvement.
