Abstract

This study presents a bibliometric review analysis of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) integrated project-based learning (PjBL) used in promoting meaningful physics learning at the secondary education level. It aims to provide in-depth information about the research landscape of STEM-integrated PjBL models in physics learning outcomes in senior high schools and its contribution to implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia. For this purpose, 72 articles published between 2013 and 2023 from the Scopus database were selected based on predetermined criteria. The selected articles were analyzed regarding publication trends, key research themes, citation analysis, and keywords. The findings of this study highlight a network of actively participating authors, institutions, and research groups in this field. In addition, this comprehensive review offers an understanding of the current state and opportunities in this research field and identifies further exploration areas and gap analysis. The implication of the results of this literature review is to critically know the existence of a gap analysis so that one of the next studies is to be able to develop a STEM integrated PjBL model with a contextual, cultural and multidisciplinary approach to promote sustainable development.

Abstract

Sustainable environmental literacy is an important competency in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially for prospective science teacher students. This study aims to identify the need for sustainable environmental literacy as a basis for developing measurement instruments that are relevant to the context of education and global environmental challenges. This study uses a descriptive approach by compiling indicators based on cognitive, affective, and psychomotor dimensions, and considering aspects of social awareness and real action. The results of the analysis show a gap between students' pro-environmental knowledge and attitudes and their actual behavior in everyday life. This finding emphasizes the importance of instruments that are able to describe environmental literacy conditions holistically to support transformative education and form agents of change who care about environmental sustainability.

Abstract

This research aims to improve student environmental knowledge and literacy with natural products experiment activity worksheets. The methods used in this research are pre-experimental. The subjects of this research are 15 students from an Islamic high school. The research results show that natural products experiment activity worksheets effectively improve students' learning outcomes. The research results indicate that the pre-test results obtained an average score of 50.8, indicating that students needed help understanding the material before using natural products' experiment activity worksheets. Post-test results showed an average score of 80.5, indicating that students experienced increased learning outcome scores. The average normalized gain score is 0.59, indicating a medium increase in chemistry learning outcomes. The self-assessment questionnaire on environmental literacy, conducted after using the integrated natural products experiment activity worksheets, showed that knowledge had an average score of 4.33 and was rated as excellent, behavior had an average score of 4.31 and was rated as good, and attitude had an average score of 4.37 and was also rated as good. Overall, students' environmental literacy was rated as outstanding, with an average score of 86.74%.

Abstract

Education is one aspect that needs to be improved in building quality Human Resources (HR). Life in the 21st century requires important skills that must be mastered by everyone, especially students, in order to face existing challenges. Numeracy literacy is part of the basic literacy in 21st-century skills that must be possessed. This study aims to develop a PBL-based chemistry learning module to equip students with numeracy literacy skills on the topic of colligative properties of solutions. The difference lies in the content of the developed module, the material, and the abilities studied, where no previous similar research has examined the development of a PBL-based chemistry learning module to equip students with numeracy literacy skills on the topic of colligative properties of solutions. In this module, PBL syntax is used as a guide in the implementation of learning (material descriptions, case studies, and formative tests of numeracy literacy), and numeracy literacy becomes a reference for the content to be included in the module. The method used in this study is the Research and Development (R&D) method. The development research conducted refers to the 4D model according to Thiagarajan, which consists of Define, Design, Development, and Dissemination. A small-scale trial involved 8 students from class XII MIPA with the criteria of having studied the colligative properties of solutions. A large-scale trial involved 36 students of class XII-E as the experimental class and 36 students of class XII-D as the control class, selected using a purposive sampling technique with consideration from the teacher. The results are: 1) the module is declared feasible with the results of media and material validity of 100% (very valid) and the results of readability and implementation getting a percentage of 92% (very good); 2) the module is declared quite effective with classical learning completion in class XII-E of 50%; and 3) the module received a positive response from teachers and students with a teacher response value of 93% and a student response value of 78%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the PBL-based chemistry learning module is feasible and quite effective for use in chemistry learning, especially the colligative properties of solutions.

Abstract

Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach is very important to adopt because it is able to integrate cultural values and experiences of students into learning, thus creating an inclusive, relevant, and adaptive learning environment to the needs of students. This study aims to explore the application of the Culturally Responsive Teaching approach in learning Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) in Elementary Schools. The research method chosen is a systematic literature review by analyzing 1,011 articles from the Scopus and Google Scholar databases published in the 2020-2025 period. The results of the analysis of various articles, the application of the Culturally Responsive Teaching approach in IPAS learning can increase motivation, participation, 21st century skills, and learning outcomes of students, especially in the context of cultural diversity in the classroom. The research gap that can be filled based on the results of the analysis is the application of the Culturally Responsive Teaching approach in IPAS learning not only on the learning outcomes of cognitive aspects but also affective aspects and 21st century skills as a whole . In addition, the Culturally Responsive Teaching approach encourages teachers to be more innovative in designing learning strategies that are adaptive to the needs and characteristics of students. Thus, Culturally Responsive Teaching can be a strategic solution in developing science learning that is in line with the demands of 21st century education in Elementary School.

Abstract

The integration of computational thinking (CT) into elementary education is increasingly viewed as essential for developing students' problem-solving and digital literacy skills. However, effective implementation of CT-based instruction through coding remains varied in practice. This study aims to synthesise empirical evidence on how coding supports CT development in primary school students. A systematic literature review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines, with an initial identification of 1145 records from Scopus and Google Scholar. After removing 104 duplicates, 1041 titles and abstracts were screened, and 113 full-text articles were assessed for eligibility. Based on the inclusion criteria, five empirical studies published between 2021 and 2025 were selected. Thematic analysis revealed that instructional approaches such as unplugged activities, educational robotics, and pair programming effectively enhanced core CT skills—abstraction, decomposition, and algorithmic thinking—while also promoting student engagement and collaboration. However, persistent barriers include limited teacher readiness, inadequate assessment tools, and unequal access to technology. The study concludes that early exposure to structured coding interventions positively influences CT development. To ensure sustainability and equity, future efforts must focus on teacher training, culturally responsive pedagogy, and integration of CT into the broader curriculum. This review provides a focused synthesis that can guide educational stakeholders in designing and supporting effective CT instruction at the primary level.
