Abstract

Every year the number of climbers increase, there are at least 70,000 climbers including researchers. The increase in the number of climbers will certainly increase the mortality risk of hypothermia. At least 18 people died from hypothermia in 2014 to 2015. The risk of hypothermia can be reduced by handling such as providing warmth to the patient. Warmth can be created by using a tool that produces the right heat, easy and safe to use, easy to carry and also affordable. This is the basis for researches to conduct research on designing heating products in tents as an effort to prevent hypothermia. This research uses the QFD (Quality Function Deployment) method in processing the results of the consumers voice, design the product concept, screening and selecting concept and analysis the final product design. Based on the data collection and processing that has been carried out, there are 10 criteria for consumer needs and interests for product, including practical tools to carry, safe to use, can warm the body to have additional functions as cellphone chargers. While the alternative concept chosen in the form of cylindrical tube, using a Li-ion battery, and a frame made of polypropilene plastic. From the chosen concept, then a heating lamp model is designed in the display when used and stored.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Muun Donuts in Lhokseumawe is a producer of fresh donuts (a perishable product) that faces daily operational challenges in the form of unpredictable fluctuations in daily demand. The lack of a standard numerical benchmark for determining daily production capacity creates the risk of dual losses, such as waste of raw materials (overstock) and loss of potential profit (stockout). The objective of this study is to determine the optimal production volume and predict the expected maximum profit. This study integrates a time series forecasting approach with the newsboy problem method. The results show that the optimal single-base production quantity for the company is 24,550 pcs. The distribution of optimal production allocation per period throughout 2026 ranges from 23,902 pcs to 25,199 pcs per month, equivalent to an average daily dough conversion of 14 kg to 16 kg per day. Aggregately, the implementation of this proposed integrated method is projected to generate a total expected profit of IDR 1,119,489,296 per year, or yield an annual total profit increase of IDR 25,914,296 compared to the company’s current policy. This stochastic approach has proven effective as a foundation for management’s tactical decisions to reduce food waste while maintaining the quality of customer service.

Abstract

The oleochemical industry carries high occupational safety and health (K3) risks due to its use of chemicals, high pressure and temperature, and complex production processes, one example being the Fatty Alcohol Plant at PT Bakrie Renewable Chemicals. This study identifies potential hazards, assesses risk levels, and analyzes control measures for chemical exposure using the Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) method, applying a descriptive-qualitative approach through field observation, interviews, document review, and literature study. Seven risk-prone activities were identified: chemical receiving, storage, raw material transfer, vapor leakage and ventilation, heating-cooling operations, distillation-purification, and maintenance, with two activities falling into the high-risk category, four into medium, and one into low. The highest risks were found in chemical vapor leakage (R=15) and process heating (R=12). Risk control follows the hierarchy of control: engineering controls, administrative controls, periodic inspection, ventilation improvement, gas detectors, preventive maintenance, and personal protective equipment (PPE), measures that reduce workplace accident risk while improving industrial environmental management.

Abstract

King Koffie is a business engaged in the production of ground coffee and coffee roasting. In its production activities, the company relies on coffee bean supplies from several suppliers, each with different characteristics. Currently, the supplier selection process at King Koffie is still carried out conventionally and largely depends on subjective considerations, such as the closeness of relationships and long-term cooperation, without a systematic evaluation. This study employs the ORESTE method to determine the priority ranking of suppliers. The evaluation criteria include quality, price, responsiveness/service, and delivery. The ORESTE method is applied to identify the best Arabica coffee bean supplier based on the priority of criteria established by the business owner. The results indicate that the weights of the criteria are 0.5208 for quality, 0.2708 for price, 0.1458 for responsiveness/service, and 0.0625 for delivery. These findings show that quality is the most important criterion in the supplier selection process. The preference values calculated using the distance score are 2.182367621 for Supplier A, 3.183554881 for Supplier B, 2.419090234 for Supplier C, 2.92661611 for Supplier D, and 2.686041486 for Supplier E. Since the supplier with the lowest preference value is considered the highest priority, Supplier A is identified as the best supplier with a preference value of 2.182367621.
