The low ecoliteracy of students impacts students' low awareness of the environment. This study aims to analyze the ecoliteracy profile of junior high school students. This research is a descriptive study conducted on the seventh-grade students of junior high school with a total of 80 students consisting of 33 male students and 47 female students with purposive sampling. The instrument used in this study was an ecoliteracy test in the form of multiple choice and 20 essay questions. The data collected was analyzed descriptively quantitatively by calculating the percentage of students' acquisition of ecoliteracy and then categorized. The results showed that the average ecoliteracy of students was 50%. The average addition of ecoliteracy on each indicator knows environmental problems (75%), having an action strategy on environmental problems (50%), following up on environmental problems that occur (45%), and having quality in responding to environmental problems and personal attitudes good at 30%. This proves that the level of student ecoliteracy is still relatively low, and efforts need to be made to increase ecoliteracy in students.

Literasi sains siswa Indonesia hasil penilaian PISA masih rendah. Permasalahan serupa juga terjadi di Kabupaten Sukabumi. Oleh karena itu guru-guru Ilmu Pendidikan Alam (IPA) khususnya yang tergabung di Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran IPA Kabupaten Sukabumi perlu memliki pengetahuan tentang literasi sains yang baik. Tujuan dari kegiatan pelatihan penyusunan RPP dan Asesmen literasi sains adalah menentukan literasi sains guru serta meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam menyusun RPP dan Asesmen berbasis literasi sains. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dengan memberikan pengetahuan tentang literasi sains, aspek-aspek literasi sains, dan praktek penyusunan RPP dan Asesmen Literasi Sains. Literasi sains guru diukur menggunakan tes literasi sains. Adapun untuk menentukan pengetahuan guru terhadap literasi sains dan asesmennya menggunakan angket terbuka. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan literasi sains guru IPA Kab. Sukabumi termasuk kategori tinggi dengan rerata 86. Perolehan tertinggi pada aspek konteks adalah konteks sosial, aspek konten yaitu jaring-jaring makanan, dan aspek kompetensi adalah menjelaskan fenomena ilmiah. Guru-guru IPA juga terampil menyusun RPP dan soal literasi sains dengan kategori baik.

This study aims to analyze the middle school of science the textbook based on science literacy. We used descriptive analysis to explore the domain of science literacy at 3 middle science textbooks. Observation Sheet that contain the domain of science literacy (adopted from Chiappetta, Fillman Sethna) is used to capture the present category of science literacy (body of knowledge, way of investigating, way of thinking, and interaction of science, technology and society) in any textbook. The results showed that middle school science textbooks have not yet provide a balance between body of knowledge, way of Investigating, way of thinking, and interaction of science, technology and society. The Middle science textbooks still dominate with science as a way of knowledge. Middle School science textbook that used to support science teaching should be provide balance on all four aspects of science literacy. Therefore, The development that focusing on middle school science textbooks based on science literacy need to be implemented.

This research was conducted to produce an Argumentation Assessment based on Scientific Social Issues. This study uses the R&D method. This research is in the Develop stage, namely conducting expert validation and limited trials. The SSI-based argumentation instrument trial was conducted on 15 and 30 grade IX students of SMP Adik Irma Jakarta. Data collection techniques were carried out by written tests and assessment of argumentation test questions. The assessment of argumentation test questions is given to material experts and 10 teachers. The CVI test was conducted by ten teachers, in an average CVI score of 0.9 with a very appropriate category. The first trial was conducted with ten written tests, resulting in six assessments that were declared valid and reliable with a validity test value > 0.514 and a Cronbach's Alpha reliability test score > 0.514. Furthermore, the second trial was carried out on thirty students with five assessments, resulting in Validity Test scores > 0.361, Reliability Test scores > 0.361, and the developed assessment was able to measure students' argumentation skills at level three according to the Toulmin Analysis Pattern (TAP). The conclusion is that the assessment developed can be used by teachers to measure students' argumentation skills.

This study aims to enhance students’ creative thinking skills through the biotechnology module based on socio-scientific issues. This is pre-experimental research with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The learning is carried out online using the Zoom meeting application, which is familiar to the students. The instrument for collecting data is a valid creative thinking skill test sheet. The students’ responses were analyzed using a questionnaire. The data analysis was done by descriptive quantitative and inferential. The result of the inferential statistical test shows that there is a significant effect of using SSI-based biotechnology modules on students’ creative thinking skills. The SSI-based biotechnology module is effective to improve creative thinking skills, indicated by the N-Gain value is 0.63 in the moderate category. The learning implementation has an average value above 75%, indicating that the learning process is carried out very well. 87.50% of the students gave excellent responses to the use of the SSI-based module in learning. There is an increase in the N-Gain value in creative thinking skills, so we can conclude that the biotechnology module based on the socio-scientific issue is effective to improve creative thinking skills

This research aimed to analyze the science assessment in Junior High Schools in Tangerang Selatan City using scientific literacy competencies. This study used a descriptive method by collecting questions for the final semester assessment from four schools in Tangerang Selatan City, Indonesia which were determined by random sampling. A total of 180 science item test from four schools in Tangerang Selatan City, Indonesia were analyzed using scientific literacy competency indicators contained in the 2018 PISA framework. The results showed that only a small proportion (7.22%) of the items contained scientific literacy competencies. The items used tend to directly ask students' mastery of concepts and do not present data/information that students need to investigate on the items. Most of the questions presented are in the form of concept/definitions so that it does not require students to think at high levels, especially at the reasoning stage.

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is very important for environmental utilization while protecting environmental conditions. Therefore, learning needs to facilitate students to have sustainability awareness and critical thinking skills. This study aimed to analyse critical thinking skills and sustainability awareness among junior high school students through the use of teaching materials in science learning. The samples of the study were 213 students and six teachers of junior high school in Bogor municipality. The data collection technique was a Likert scale questionnaire to determine sustainability awareness, a reasoned multiple-choice critical thinking skill test, and an open questionnaire to explore the need for teaching materials. The results showed that the average sustainability awareness of students was 3.65, which is included in the moderate level. The acquisition of each component of sustainability awareness was sustainability practice awareness (37.95%), behavioural and attitude awareness (70.63%), and emotional awareness (86.92%). The average score of students 'critical thinking skills was 28.68%, which indicated the level of students' critical thinking skills was in a weak category

Scientific literacy defines as multidimensional skills that students should have to prepare a life after school. One thing that can improve scientific literacy is the quality of teaching materials. Teaching materials are one of the main components in learning including living cell matter. Currently, teaching materials that are widely used in Indonesia are still in the form of printed teaching materials and according to PISA results, these teaching materials have not a significant impact on students' scientific literacy. Nowadays, technological advances are very rapid and have a very positive impact on life, including in education. One of the benefits is the integration of interactive multimedia as the basis for teaching materials. The purpose of this article is to analyze the students' needs regarding interactive multimedia-based teaching materials containing scientific literacy in the learning of the living cells matter and to analysis of scientific literacy aspects in the previously used teaching materials. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques using questionnaires and interviews. The research subjects used were 3 Biology teachers and 81 students of class XI of science program at one of high schools in Sukabumi City, Indonesia. The results showed that students need interactive multimedia-based teaching materials containing scientific literacy on living cell matter and currently the teaching materials that students use have several components that are not as expected and the components of scientific literacy in these teaching are still not balanced. Therefore, it is necessary to develop interactive multimedia-based teaching materials containing scientific literacy on living cell matter to improve students' scientific literacy.

The research aims to analyze the teaching materials needed by the teacher and the level of students' scientific literacy in the science learning process in the COVID-19 pandemic era. The descriptive quantitative method was utilized in the present study. The subject of the survey is 35 science teachers in Bogor and 150 grade VIII students at one of the junior high schools in the Bogor district. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires and scientific literacy tests. The collected data were analyzed quantitatively by calculating the percentage acquisition of students' scientific literacy then categorized. The study results revealed that the teaching materials used were not proportional in containing aspects of scientific literacy; 50% of students have scientific literacy ability in the low category, 40% in the moderate category, and 10% in the high category. The questionnaire results indicate that the factors affecting students' scientific literacy are their interest in science, learning motivation, teacher strategies in learning, and the facilities.

This study aims to develop diffraction and light interference practicum kits to improve the mastery of concepts and students' critical thinking skills. The research method begins with needs analysis, design, expert validation, testing to students, and application of practicum kits in learning. The instruments used were expert validation sheets, concept mastery tests and critical thinking skills, observation sheets of teacher and student activities, and student response questionnaires. The results of the study showed the validator's assessment for the content validity aspect and construct validity practicum kit was 91.3%. As well as the N-gain from the initial test and the final test mastery of the concept of 42% (sufficient category) and critical thinking ability by 45% (sufficient category). Inferential statistical test results show that there were significant differences between the initial test scores and the final test of mastery of concepts and critical thinking skills. This result was supported by student response questionnaire after learning with an assessment of 97.3%.
