Abstract

Ecoliteracy and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) have received attention in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students' understanding of the environment and sustainability awareness needs to be instilled through the Phenomenon Based Learning model. This study aims to improve students' ecoliteracy through Phenomenon Based Learning on the material of the interaction of living things and the environment. The research used quasy experiment method with research design Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The research subjects were junior high school students in grade VII.  Data collection techniques used tests, questionnaires, interviews and observations. Data analysis was done descriptively, N-gain calculation, and Mann Whitney test. The results showed that the average N-Gain of ecoliteracy for affective, psychomotor, spiritual, and cognitive aspects were 75.02%; 45.84%; 79.73%; and 73.31%, respectively. Mann Whitney test results showed significant differences in student ecoliteracy in experimental and control classes. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of learning using the PhenoBL model can improve student ecoliteracy with high categories for affective, spiritual, and cognitive aspects, while the increase in student ecoliteracy in the psychomotor aspect is classified as moderate.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the profile of scientific literacy abilities in science subjects with material on climate change for class VIII students at SMPN 3 Cileungsi. The research was conducted using the ex-post-facto method on 76 respondents. Data collection was carried out using an interview guide sheet and a scientific literacy test which consisted of competency aspects in explaining scientific phenomena, evaluating and designing scientific investigations, and interpreting scientific evidence and data. The scientific literacy data was then analyzed using quantitative descriptive tests. Based on the results obtained, the average scientific literacy score was 31.58% in the low category. The highest level of knowledge was in the low category in 47 respondents with a score of 61.8%, while the highest score was in the 29 respondents with a score of 38.2% in the medium category. The low scientific literacy abilities of students are influenced by several factors such as learning resources that lack scientific literacy coverage, evaluation questions that do not refer to scientific literacy indicators, and digital teaching materials that are able to increase scientific literacy. Based on the data obtained, it can be concluded that students' scientific literacy in climate change material is still relatively low.

Abstract

Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) is a quantitative data analysis technique to determine the significance of differences in more than two means of dependent variables. The Manova requirements test includes multivariate normality test with Mardia test and covariance matrix homogeneity test with Box's M test. There are several Manova test statistics, namely Wilks' Lambda, Pillai, Lawley-Hotelling, and Roy's Largest Root. The difficulty of multivariate analysis in calculations that are too complicated has been solved by the existence of statistical software that is increasingly sophisticated, so that it is able to explain the changes or effects of the treatment given and its interactions. The purpose of this study is to analyze the use of Manova in MIPA and health education research. The method used is literature review. The results showed that the use of Manova test in Thus, although both involve scientific approaches and data analysis, health and education research have different methodological characteristics and variable focus.

Abstract

This study aimed to produce electronic interactive teaching material that can build students’ eco-literacy of climate change. This study used ADDIE design, which began with analyzing needs as a reference and consideration for compiling electronic interactive teaching materials on climate change (e-ITMCC). This study began with analyzing needs as a reference in designing e-ITMCC. Furthermore, a feasibility test was carried out on the e-ITMCC design. Feasibility tests are conducted by material content and multimedia experts using expert judgment sheets. Research instruments use tests, questionnaires, and observations. e-ITMCC was declared suitable for use based on expert judgment and the acquisition of CVR and CVI of teacher assessment results. This e-ITMCC effectively applies them in science learning in junior high school class VII. The implementation results showed that the student's eco-literacy increased after studying climate change with e-ITMCC. Students also responded very well to the use of these teaching materials.

Abstract

Various online media platforms, such as Google Classroom, Zoom, and WhatsApp, have been widely utilized to optimize teaching and learning activities. However, these platforms have not yet integrated inquiry-based learning into the science education process, resulting in limited engagement of students' critical thinking skills. Consequently, there is a need to develop an Inquiry-Based Environmental Pollution Learning Website (WPPLI) as a learning medium to address students' needs for more effective learning. This study aims to: (1) determine the feasibility of the WPPLI as an educational tool, and (2) analyze teachers' and students' responses to the WPPLI. This research employs a Research and Development (R&D) methodology, utilizing the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) design model. Data were collected through media and content expert validation forms, as well as teacher and student response questionnaires. The results indicate that the WPPLI has been deemed suitable as a learning medium based on validation by media and content experts, with respective scores of 94.02% and 97.77%, both categorized as "Highly Suitable." Field testing of the WPPLI revealed average responses of 96.83% from teachers and 81.55% from students, both falling within the "Excellent" category

Abstract

Science literacy is a skill that students need to have to face the challenges of the 21st century. One aspect that can improve science literacy is the use of teaching materials. The purpose of the study was to analyze the opportunities and challenges of improving students' science literacy using teaching materials. The research method used was a systematic literature review with a preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis (PRISMA) flowchart. The results showed that opportunities to improve science literacy are done through various ways including the use of teaching materials, in-depth review of books, and the use of technology. However, learning that involves science activities is still few and more conceptual. In addition, the teaching materials used only contain subject matter and examples of problems and solutions, without encouraging students to find learning concepts. The conclusion obtained is that teaching materials that can be used to improve science literacy include comics, multimedia, books, e-modules, worksheets, and mobile-based learning media.
